  • This one higher cashbackwith no fee, but shorter time to spend 4.5k. Free travel insurance too..
    https://www.anz.com.au/personal/credit-cards/low-annual-fee-…

    • hmm what is the easiest way to spend $4.5k ?

      • Pre pay bills, utilities, health insurance, buy colesworths card for the family shopping

        • What it i buy amazon or jbhifi giftcards? Will that work?

          • @averycarson: As long as the retailer lets you pay for the giftcard by credit card anything will do.

Auspost doesnt let me, buy giftcards with cc

But colesworth or online gift card stores ok

        • will buying a colesworth gift card be considered a cash advance?

          • @ajaxsprayandwipe: Does count under cash advance, confirmed with customer service and their updated T&Cs. Even buying a GC from AfterPay/Prezzee triggers as cash advance and interest is applied.

            • @The Front Man: hmm weird @cski what do you say ? giftcard = cash advance?

              • @McMaferMur: I imagine that is a new thing but colesworth instore purchase would certainly not be cash advances

                • @cski: if just groceries true not cash adv, but giftcard need staff to activate, so they could theoretically flag them as different type of transactions

                  • @McMaferMur: When using self serve the task for colesworth staff is write an expiry date on the gift card, then ok to continue.

      • Line up any planned holidays a year out and start booking. Flights and nonrefundable hotel bookings are some of the easiest ways to rack up mad levels of spend instantly.

Easiest in terms of a single transaction - Cathay business class return with a HK stopover like BNE-HKG-TPE is $4.7k.

      • We are basically 1000 a month on groceries for two adults, throw in a few medical appointments / household purchases / a couple of dinners, coffees etc and I’m comfortably there.

      • Just book something in Airbnb for 5 months later
When you get the reward, then cancel the booking!

    • your card is much better, no annual fee first year

      1. Offer is for new and approved applicants and is limited to one offer per applicant.

ANZ may vary or end this offer at any time without notice. Not available in conjunction with other offers, packages, or promotions, or when transferring from an existing ANZ credit card. The time it takes to process, approve an application, and deliver or activate a card can vary and there may be delays.

Eligible applicants must meet the spend criteria within 4 months of the date of approval. The date of approval of an application is the disclosure date specified in your Letter of Offer. Eligible purchases include purchases made using your ANZ Credit Card Account but exclude specific purchases as set out in the ANZ Credit Card Conditions of Use (PDF). Excluded purchases include, for example, fees, cash advances, cash equivalent transactions, balances transfers, premiums paid for ANZ credit card insurance, transactions for gambling or gaming purposes or reversed or refunded transactions and will not qualify. The $450 will generally be credited to your ANZ Credit Card Account within 3 months of meeting the spend criteria. The $450 credit will be applied to the purchases balance and does not constitute a payment under your Credit Card Contract with ANZ. You will not be eligible for the $450 back if your ANZ Credit Card Account is cancelled, suspended, transferred, or you have breached the ANZ Credit Card Conditions of Use (PDF).

      1. The ANZ Platinum annual fee will be waived in the first year. In each subsequent year, if eligible purchases of $20,000 or more are processed to your ANZ Platinum Credit Card Account during the relevant annual period, your next annual fee will be waived.
      • Yeah I think I'll go for this one instead.

    • Min credit limit is 6k while op’s is 1k. Might matter to some if they have lots of cc already. I have 3 atm but am due for a new one, wish these had rewards points.

    • velocity points option?

    • Deserves a new post.

    • I just applied a few days ago for their Platinum card. I was looking for a card with complimentary travel insurance since HSBC is closing up shop in Australia including their credit cards which I had no annual fee and complementary travel insurance.

This is the best I could find, no annual fee first year. $87 a year after that (waived if spend is 20k or more)

$450 cashback is a bonus. Only downside you can't earn rewards points.

Thought I'd share for those who is also affected by HSBC closing up in Australia.

      • I was also looking for a replacement but wanted one that did earn some sort of points :(

        • Unfortunately, I couldn't find one with points and reasonably low annual fee.

  • No restriction if you have the card previously ?

    • Pretty sure it's 24 months.

      • that long? usually 6 or 12 months

        • Sue ANZ

        • Not these days. Minimum one year. But lately it's been extending. This card is particularly vague
          5. Offer is for new and approved applicants and is limited to one offer per applicant

      • No its not for the non rewards CC like ANZ FIRST OR LOW FEE CC

  • Anyone know if there is a min salary to get this card?

  • What's the earn rate for points for say gift cards? Need to churn to something after Coles MasterCard slashed their earn rates by half!

    • There’s no earning rewards with this card.

  • NAB is still best one.

$1.5k spend, $350 cashback. No annual fee first year for existing customer.

Best part, no cooldown. I'm on my 3rd card in 12 months.

    • Wow… maybe i should follow i just closed mine 1 month ago.
did you get some kind of written confirmation from the staff there is no cooldown (iincase need to dispute)

      • You can check with their T&Cs on that card.

    • Oh wow didn’t know there was no cooldown. Can you have multiple open?

    • So you received 3 separate cashbacks?

      • I've received 2 separate cashbacks. Haven't met the spend on 3rd card yet. I had a month in between closing last card to opening a new one

        • Woah I didn't know this, genius move. Normal spending day to day and you get $1000 back. Better than a tax return!

    • Oh I thought nab cashbacks took 6 months to come through?

      • Yes it takes 150 days full to come out.

      • This one comes through on 4th statement

    • Thanks, i did see that it didnt mention any specific exclusion period. But was very hesistant to apply by some hidden mechanism to auto reject new applications, or dont give the cashback.
closed mine before to apply for this anz cc. Now that anz cc min spend is reached, gonna apply for nab cc again thanks to your comment confirming no real exclusion period and reward still come through.

  • With low rate cc like these where there is an annual fee, is it normal to be able to negotiate with the bank to waive the annual fee (at least for first year) off?

  • What's the best card with lowest fee and rewards program?

    • I am also looking for this, but every man and his credit card has a fee now

  • How long does it take to get the credit back? It allows 6 moths, but I can easily spend 5000 in 2 months or just 1 month with a large bill, so wonder if I can quickly churn and get out. Anyone know?

    • From what I've read from previous nab card posts, most comments mention receiving the cashback on the 6th statement (from meeting the spending req I imagine)

      • Oh that's bad, and deter me from applying this and lock myself in for 6 months! I would rather staying with my current NAB qantas (bonus churned already) and leave my option open for now, but thanks!

        • ANZ is usually quick. NAB might be the slowest.

          • @me1stt: Any past experience on how long ANZ takes? Thanks

    • NAB too 4 months to apply the cashback for me. Approve in mid Feb, cashback paid in early June

  • If you have recently held ANZ Rewards Platinum or ANZ Frequent Flyer Black are you still eligible for this? Or do you need to wait 18 or 24 months etc?

    • Also curious

      • ChatGPT says eligible.

Based on the current ANZ terms, you would still be eligible for the ANZ Low Rate offer even if you previously held an ANZ Rewards Platinum or ANZ Frequent Flyer Black card.

        The key difference is:

ANZ Rewards and ANZ Frequent Flyer bonus offers have a 24 month exclusion period. If you currently hold or have held any ANZ Rewards or ANZ Frequent Flyer credit card within the last 24 months, you are not eligible for those bonus offers.

The ANZ Low Rate $400 cashback offer does not include this 24 month exclusion. Its terms only say the offer is for new approved applicants and is not available when transferring from an existing ANZ credit card…

        • Hope so, will try later

          • @SAVE100IFDONOTBUY: This low rate card has no rewards earning and no such restriction in T&Cs. You can apply multiple times a year - close one and then reapply next day.

  • Title should say $342 after fees

  • I followed the thumbnail link to anpply and got approved. Then realised that op had the better deal written in the comment and I applied this one too (within 30minutes approval). ANZ rang me to check if it isn’t a duplicate. After clarifications I got approved both cards.

    • I just got approved the the platinum one, tempted to apply for this as well if can also get cashback.

  • Approved for the platinum one in the comments a couple hours after applying. Heads up they texted and called me immediately after to confirm something, then approved it BUT a following SMS asks me to visit an ANZ branch to confirm my identity before they send the card out (..and he said you can't use the card digitally before you receive the physical). I only have 1 ANZ branch "near" me which will be a pain to get to.. I wouldn't have applied if i had know beforehand lol.

  • Happy to help with the application process if anyone is local to Carindale 4152

    • Do you work for ANZ? If so, do you know if I apply for both the ANZ Platinum credit card and the ANZ Low Rate credit card if both cash back offer applicable or only applicable to the first card I applied for?

      • yes, and only applicable to the first card you applied for

        • Thanks for getting back to me. I contacted customer service and they told me since I applied for both cards. Both cards now are not eligible for cashback (even through 3 days apart from each other).

My interpretation from reading the terms is that the second card won't be eligible for cashback.

I challenged them, but it went back and forth for a bit so I gave up and ended up cancelling both cards.
