I think it was the cost and the Italian counterpart studios fking it up

Massive fire broke out and gutted the set, too :(
Commentaries from the production team said the Italian studio was charging absolutely extortionate fees.

Poor Lucius Vorenus just couldn't catch a break, always having the rug pulled under him.
Even if you're not a history buff, stream the first episode on HBO Max. Chances are you'll binge the rest.

Loved watching this show. The original boundary pusher for GOT showing the male nudity and sex scenes. Loved it!

HBO was known for plenty of nudity well before Rome. Was it female only?

It's a good show but why does everyone have a British accent? Kind of ruins the authenticity a bit for me. They should be speaking with Italian accents, preferably in Latin (with English subtitles). Funnily enough, when I used to read Asterix comics as a kid, I always imagined Caesar speaking with a British accent. No idea why.
