CommBank Yello Changes from 01 October 2026

Just saw the update on the app.

CommBank Yello is evolving to a points program to give customers more flexibility and choice in how they're rewarded. From 1 October, eligible customers can earn points across eligible banking products or shopping brand offers. Customers will no longer be provided with cashback. Points can be redeemed for gift cards, travel, cash, airlines, rewards programs and so much more. Perks like presale access, competitions and discounts will still be available.

  • Our accumulated points will be worth about 17% less under the new scheme when it comes to gift cards. $50 of Myer gift cards is a total of 10700 points in the current scheme but 12500 points under the new. That means the transfer results in a loss of value of approximately 17%. Reference https://www.commbank.com.au/commbank-yello/commbank-yello-ch…

This is never mentioned in any of there communications which I find false and misleading.

Sucks big time, I haven't used my points in recent times as the only gift cards available are of zero interest to me. All the ones I wanted disappeared eg. jb hifi, good guys

Will be complaining to CBA tomorrow, and then Fair Trading and Ombudsman.

  • $10.9 billion in cash profits, the largest of Big 4 banks, yet the first to scrap cashback. Shame, CBA, shaaayme.
Hoping they'll also award points for fee-free CBA debit cards and not just credit cards.

  • You missed the bit about the CC fee.. not longer waived if you spent XXX each month! starting from Jan 1st 2027.

    • And now adding in Foreign Exchange Fees. I will be cancelling the CommBank credit card and moving elsewhere.

      • Keen to know where you will be moving to. It's time for me to find a better credit card too.

    • Which card? The diamond one?

    • Where is this stated? Can’t seem to find it.

  • UP! Bank now has cashback. I'll be hitting them up from now on.

  • Customers will no longer be provided with cashback.

    then

Points can be redeemed for gift cards, travel, cash

    🤔

  • I regret staying with cba for so long but all the other banks are just as bad, if not worse….

anyone know what will happen to the award points I've gathered so far? should I use them up before this change happens?

I was hoping they would bring back the discounted apple giftcards but I guess that's never gonna happen now….

  • I’ve been enjoying the $5 cash back at Coles each month for awhile. Doubt there will be bonus points offers that match that. I guess I’ll close my Smart Access account.

  • I cannot add tags for some reason ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • So do they still have tiers? Minimum spends and so?

Wasn't that great to begin with, probably even worse now.

    • Tiers like Yello, Yello Plus, Yello Gold are still there

  • Is the new CBA Yellow Pts program better then the old CBA Awards program? Is the like for like or the Pts devalued now?

    • Devalued. In the old version, it would take ~20,600 points (from memory) for a $100 Coles gift card. Now, in teh new program, if you convert those points into Woolworths Everyday Rewards points, you get $68.66 from the same amount of points.

  • Pretty disappointed with the changes. In the old version, it would take ~20,600 points (from memory) for a $100 Coles gift card. Now, in teh new program, if you convert those points into Woolworths Everyday Rewards points, you get $68.66 from the same amount of points.

I hate that I forgot to get a final $100 Coles gift card before 1 Oct. That's a loss of about $32 :(

  • the cashbacks were useless anyway. went from waste of time to another waste of time

    • the cashbacks were useless anyway.

I just got another $10 Coles cashback on the weekend…

  • so I used to have auto transfer Yello point to QFF but now need to pay $149 annual fee for this function (previously $90). Now Yello have new reward program partner to Woolworth rewards. I can to transfer yello point directly to Woolworth points, then Woolworths points to QFF. Aka 3000 Yello= 2000 Woollie=1000 Qantas Points. TBH, the rate is the same, but I save the $149 fee. The only downside is there is no auto transfer from Yello to Woolworth points but that's OK; I don't mind doing it once a year before I redeem QFF for flight.
