  • I switched to Felix because the Telstra tower near my house was over capacity and Telstra told me they weren't going to upgrade the backhaul.

I've been quite satisfied, when downloading files speeds start much higher than 40Mbps before settling down towards 40. Slightly worse reception but it's fine. Was worried I'd get booted from the network when my WiFi was down and I used hotspot for a month (300GB+) but no warning emails or anything.

Use the referral box for 4 months at half price instead of 3

    • Same.
Telstra have zero interest in mobile customers (they see the 4G/ 5G network as their NBN support network) . Even have it in writing.

How did Felix go with Streaming etc?
      No idea how streaming works?
For example, Prime- Does UHD throttle back to 1080 if the connection isn't fast enough?

      • Fine for YouTube etc. Only had to drop the quality manually a few times on high bitrate Plex streams but apps generally work fine with their automatic switching

  • are they going to re-offer the 6 month one ?

    • Just do the 4 months with a promo, leave for a day then jump back on for 4 months on another promo code

      • You can only use one code either felix50 for 50% discount or a referral code

      • How do you leave for a day?

  • Just a reminder. You can use the referral link above to get one extra month (4 months instead of 3) at half price. Referee gets 50% off for 4 months. Referrer gets $10 credit.

  • I'm using this for home internet via a cheap $250 pixel with 5G. Works decently well.

    • been running this for 3+ years now at my parents house ahah

    • I was using a $50 prepaid optus phone, plugged into home wifi/router.
      You don't need 5G for 40Mbps.

      • I previously had the Samsung A8 tablet. It maxed out at 20Mbps.

The cheap pixel deal came up and figured it was a sign.

        • You did well, I was just adding info for others.

    • Which device is it? Does it support 5G SA or NSA? @Churna please provide your feedback as well.

      • Pixel 7 with an asus router. No clue if it's SA or NSA and can't be assed to check.

  • How long before they raise prices on the unlimited plan 😬

  • This is cool, what is the upload speed like? Is it 40mbps upload too?

    • Yes 40/40

  • For the unlimited data plan, do Felix still cut you off if they detect you're using it as a home internet replacement?

And are there ways to stop them detecting you're using their service as a home internet replacement, perhaps by using a VPN?

    • They will pause your service.. and when you call them up, they will say you have to place it within a mobile device capable of receiving calls.

    • They can detect the IMEI number if it's associated with a phone or a USB/standalone modem. This is IIRC their main way of detecting if you're using it as a home internet replacement.

So I recommend USB tethering a disused 5G phone with travel router, like the GL.inet Beryl AX.

      • Thanks, that sounds like an easy solution, and a rather capable router. I assume the USB-A socket on the router, in addition to tethering, will also keep the mobile charged.

Do you know if Felix will notice when two movies are being streamed through the device at the same time, and use that to flag the account as "being used as an internet replacement"?

        • Nah it'll be fine. I've been using it for the past couple of years, with a phone tethered to a TP-Link Deco mesh wi-fi system. No issues at all streaming across multiple devices at the same time.

      • Just a FYI for others, the Flint 2 can also do the same, have tested it.

  • If you need to keep your phone line active when traveling abroad, Felix has a good international roaming add-on: $20 for 100 calls, 100 texts, and 4GB of data, valid for a year. I swapped to them for a month when traveling in South Africa in addition to using a Saily eSIM for data (4GB isn't a lot when the family is sharing it).

    • It also has a pause feature that's very handy, you can still receive text messages as well.

  • $7 cashback on shopback for unlimited plan until 25th August

    • Which wouldn’t stack with the code. Way worse deal.

      • I used code Felix 50 for 50% discount and 7% was tracked at shop back.

        • tracked, yeah. doesn’t mean it will confirm.

  • As an FYI - Felix Mobile uses the Vodafone 4G and 5G network in Australia.

  • Doesn’t refferal system give 50% off for 4 months?

    • Thanks. Added

  • 40Mbps, is it slow ?

    • depends what your definition is slow is.

Back pre NBN I had a adsl2+ connection in my home

      a whopping
2mbps download and 0.5 maybe 1 mbps upload on a good day.

$69/mth 48 mth contract my parents were paying xD

      • Luxury. Wait till I tell you about the modem speeds in 19980 to access bbs…

  • i need something temporarily, do they allow you to use modem if just doing for the 25gb plan?

  • Anyone had issues in the past where the referral code didn't work properly?

I used one from the forum and it worked for the first month, but subsequent months were full price. I think it's because a majority of the codes on OzBargain are no longer active users.

    • If you miss the payment it apparently does cancel the discount.
