  • What size are these socks, OP?
Also, you might want to double check images on your website before posting because AI makes mistakes. There are multiple typos on the label of the socks

    • Hi! Thanks for asking and good eye on the label mockups!

      1. Sizing:
Our Merino Essential Socks are designed with elastane arch-stretch for a comfortable unisex fit:

      Fit Range: AU/UK Men’s 7 – 11 / Women’s 8.5 – 12.5 (EU 40 – 45).

      1. Regarding the images & label:
Spot on — those initial studio pack shots were digital concept 3D renders generated during our pre-launch mockups, which led to a few funny AI typos on the printed text on the cardboard sleeve!

Rest assured, the actual socks and physical packaging are fully finished with accurate branding, genuine care labels, and the proper 70% Australian Merino / 27% Nylon / 3% Elastane composition. We are currently shooting the final on-foot lifestyle photos to update the site shortly.

      Appreciate you pointing it out!

      • I’m not sure why you seem to have such hostility towards us, or why you feel it is appropriate to use this kind of offensive language.

To clarify, Merino100 and Southmer are both businesses operated by us, which is exactly why they share the same address.

Our group purchases approximately 10,000 tonnes of Australian wool each year. Merino100 represents our wool fabric products for the international market, while Southmer is our brand for finished wool and Merino products.

Our products are backed by internationally recognised certifications, including RWS, Woolmark and OEKO-TEX, and we take the quality, traceability and integrity of our products very seriously.

You are absolutely entitled to question our products, pricing, business structure or anything else, and we are happy to provide a factual explanation. However, I do not understand why that requires personal insults or abusive language towards us.

If you have a genuine concern about our products or business, please raise it specifically and we will be happy to address it with facts.

          Where's Lianju Group, Merino100 and/or Southmer?

          • @Big L: I’m amazed by how persistent you are in your bias against our company, so I feel I have to respond once again. Our certification number is 0030001639, and it can easily be found using the link you provided.

            • @Lingstech: I'm surprised that you responded after saying you wouldn't engage

Edit: JIANGSU JIANLU WORSTED CO., LTD isn't easily found. But obviously an impressive company:

Jiangsu Jianlu Group is a provincial wool spinning enterprise group which was established in year 1986. Now there are over 3,000 employees in Jianlu and its total assets is RMB 300 million. It is the designated uniform fabric provider of the General Logistics Department of PLA, Railways Ministry, Public Security Ministry, Supreme People's Court, State Commerce and Industry Administration and State Taxation Administration. The group has six subordinate branches, namely, fine spinning, wool top, cotton spinning, apparel and knitting wool. The production capacity of the group is 5 million meters of worsted wool fabric, 1500 tons of wool top, 5 million meters of jeans fabric and 300,000 suits of dress. Jianlu has received the ISO9002 Certificate, its marketing network covers over 70% of China and it's competing on the international market.

              • @Big L: If you have any questions or concerns about our product quality, promotional offers, pricing, or certifications, I am of course more than happy to answer them. However, if you resort to personal attacks or abusive language towards our staff, or simply assume without justification that our products must be of poor quality because they are made in China, I will not engage with such comments. We will retain records of the relevant comments and reserve the right to take further action where appropriate.

                • @Lingstech:

We will retain records of the relevant comments and reserve the right to take further action where appropriate.

Hmm what do you mean by that?

                • @Lingstech: Take action please.

My comments aren't because the products are made in China. It's because you're trying to represent the company as Australian, using a poorly generated AI website run out of a suburban office with a bunch of other poorly AI generated sites or distributorships. Charging a premium based on the smoke and mirrors that it's Australian is disingenuous.

                  • @Big L: Just to clarify, we have never claimed that our products are Made in Australia. Southmer is an Australian-owned brand, and the country of manufacture is clearly disclosed as China.

We’re happy to discuss the product itself — including its materials, certifications, quality and pricing — but we don’t think it’s fair to characterise transparent country-of-origin information as “smoke and mirrors”.

                    • @Lingstech: Being an Australian brand and being Made in Australia are two different things. Apple, for example, is widely recognised as an American brand, while its products are manufactured in multiple countries outside the US.

                      • @Lingstech: You can't even manage your login - are you lingstech or Southmer today?

Point out on the Southmer website where it's clearly disclosed as made in China.

                        • @Big L: I’m not sure what my login has to do with the product or this deal.

The country of manufacture is clearly stated on the product label as Made in China. There has been no attempt to hide or misrepresent where the product is manufactured.

If you have a genuine question about the product itself — its materials, quality, certifications, price or this promotion — I’m happy to answer it. But repeatedly focusing on my login, company associations or making insinuations unrelated to the actual product does not contribute anything meaningful to the discussion.

                          • @Lingstech: It's not a meaningful discussion, you misrepresent yourself and the company.

You still haven't shown where it's obvious on the website that it's made it china

                            • @Big L: Icebreaker, Arc’teryx and Louis Vuitton all have products manufactured in China. Country of manufacture is typically disclosed on the product label itself, just as it is on ours. So trying to portray “Made in China” as something we are hiding simply doesn’t hold up.

                          • @Lingstech: My friend, from now on I’m happy to respond to every criticism you make. Your comments consistently focus on things outside the actual product — which login I use, whether our website uses AI, or whether there are related companies. None of these points has any bearing on me or the quality of our products. In fact, every response gives me another opportunity to explain what our products actually offer. If you choose to share our conversations on social media, that may even help more people become aware of our products, so thank you.

First, Jianlu Group is one of the world’s leading wool textile manufacturers. The information you found yourself demonstrates the scale and capability of the group, and even when you questioned our use of the Woolmark certification, the relevant information was readily verifiable. We hold many of the internationally recognised certifications relevant to the wool textile industry.

Second, our products are made using Australian Merino wool, and our group purchases approximately 10,000 tonnes of wool annually.

Third, our products use RWS-certified 19.5-micron wool. Our scarf weighs 280 grams, rather than the lighter 150-gram construction commonly found in lower-cost products. This provides greater warmth and a softer feel, although naturally it also results in a higher production cost.

Fourth, this is the age of AI, and we embrace new technology. English is not my first language, so we use AI to assist our work in order to communicate more clearly and respectfully with our customers. I see absolutely nothing wrong with that.

                            • @Lingstech: Lying again, but I'm already used to it.

Jianlu Group is Chinese, yet you've said that Southmer is Australian owned.

The Woolmark licence is for Jianlu - not Southmer or Merino100. Jianlu isn't mentioned on the Southmer website, not any mention of China, Chinese or made in China.

You keep saying 'we', so it's Jianlu Group when it suits you, yet you supposedly represent the Australian-owned company Southmer, and you're using your other business login (Lingstech) to respond here.

I note that Lingstech wasn't too popular here either, so I'm surprised that you used the wrong account.

                              • @Big L: Come on, mate — at least bring something new to the discussion. We seem to be going around in circles.

Southmer is an Australian-owned company. If you have concerns about its ownership or corporate registration, those are matters of public record and can be checked through ASIC.

If you have questions about the actual products — the wool we use, specifications, quality, certifications, pricing or the promotion itself — I’m more than happy to answer them.

Otherwise, I think we’ve covered the company-login discussion more than enough.

  • Hi Rep, where are they made?

    • Hi, They are made in China using 100% Australian-sourced wool. All the wool we use is purchased from Australia.

  • -Buy cheap socks from China.
    -Setup website using AI.
    -Advertise on Ozbargain.
    -Profit.

    • AI?! Just because the scroll states that the wool is sourced in Austria and sold around the wold?

      • Austria/Australia. Potato/Tomato.
It's a small wold after all.

        • By the way, it's world not wold.

          • @Lingstech: Take a look at your website for a second opinion

    • I’m not sure why you seem to have such hostility towards us, or why you feel it is appropriate to use this kind of offensive language.

      • If it's a joke that you cut and paste the same response to this comment without offensive language as you did for mine (with suggestive offensive language), then that's funny.

If it's just more of the same like your business, website and products, it's pathetic.

        • Hi, I have taken screenshots and retained copies of the relevant comments. I have referred the matter to the moderators for review. I won't be engaging further.

          • @Lingstech: I'm sure they're doing overtime to please someone duplicitous who signed up to spruik their company.

  • We will retain records of the relevant comments and reserve the right to take further action where appropriate.

I was ambivalent to this post until i saw this… Is this a threat? Veiled legal threats seldom go over well here and is most often looked at like an own goal and are received very poorly, and most times it draws a lot of negative attention and doesn't work how you think it's going to work.

To stop from infecting yourself with a near fatal case of foot (or sock, perhaps) in mouth, you are better off reporting comments you consider "personal attacks" to the mods and walking away from your computer until you calm down.

Anyway, I was neither here nor there with this post, but now there are veiled legal threats being tossed about and other users comments, I felt that it's time to leave my vote.
