Absolute dogshit quality.
The Skeletool is a handy little EDC tool, I've usually got mine in my work bag. NFI about the smaller one
It's basically just a knife with a bottle opener on the clip, useful if you need a knife, but pointless to carry if you've got the bigger Skeletool
Pun intended??
is this one of those tools that you buy once and last forever or just overhyped marketing?
I've had my leatherman MUT for 15 years, and aside from losing one of the bits it's still in excellent nick. Can't speak for this specific model but their warranty is pretty robust.
lifetime warranty until they go broke?
+1 for the warranty.
Found a broken one on the beach that was bent and has a piece of the pliers missing. They just replaced it with a new one. No questions asked.
What a find!
no invoice needed?
so you stole it?
Yes I bought one, it’s now 10 yo and still as new, wait, it’s literally new, haven’t touched it since I got it.

I own an old Schrade multi-tool and carry it on my belt at work. Have done for years. I use it multiple times, every single day. The single handiest piece of equipment I have ever owned.
I bought the skeletool about 10 years ago, and it's still in excellent condition. I don't beat it up, but it's used fairly regularly and has held up very well. It's all metal and pretty solid, so you'd have to try pretty hard to damage it.
Better value for most than the $400+ one that was listed here earlier in the week.
I had a special edition Skeletool from the UK and am a bit underwhelmed. It's a great looking bit of kit and compact, but not especially durable.
A rivet popped out of the side meaning the bit holder no longer works, and the tip of the knife snapped after a tiny bit of levering. I didn't keep it in bubble wrap or anything, but thid was far from the kind of abuse I've seen the older models tolerate.
"the tip of the knife snapped after a tiny bit of levering"
Mate, it's a knife, of course you're likely to kill it doing crap like that.
The rivet popped after only a little bit of throwing it at a brick wall.
I've always liked the idea of multi use knifes but nowadays it is illegal to carry one without some sort of 'lawful excuse"
Qld has a fairly large "lawful excuse" carve out, at least for some knives
2A person may carry a pen knife or swiss army knife for use for its normal utility purposes.

I get the convenience of EDCs, I have a few Leatherman and Swiss Army Knife myself, mostly for the novelty factor.
But don't pack them day to day and never felt I needed it when out and about, and usually have the proper tools for the situation anyway.
What sort of use cases do people carry them for? Do you randomly find wires to cut and screws to tighten throughout the day?
Probably makes more sense for trades and handyman type situations, then again they should have the tools they need on their tool belt, not a make shift multitool because too lazy to walk back to the ute.
They're mostly for when people had land and fences
Bending wire pulling screws from your tires etc
Not really applicable for the modern suburbanite
Thanks for the heads up op. Its been a useful tool, went to get another this morning. Looks like at most Costcos already.
Picked it up this morning. It’s light, and has the right set of tools for camping without having junk I don’t need. It’s not suitable around the house, garden or garage, but will be fine for hiking.
The mini knife is kind of meh. I was hoping that it might be useful as an apple knife, which is my main use case for a folding knife these days.
My test unit was a Cosmic Crisp, a larger variety that has only recently landed on retail shelves. It’s crispy and juicy.
For slicing apples, I give this knife a 3 out of 7. For reference, 1 is a hammer, and a 7 is a mythril blade forged in Morria.
It’s too short to reach across the full apple, and the wedged profile just cracks the slice. This also means you get chucks and apple juice all over your hands, which is somewhat inconvenient when you’re trying taxiing down a runway with a trainee pilot.
If you enjoy eating a slice of apple while on the go or in the office, I’d recommend buying a folding serrated Victorinox knife, which I rate as a solid five out of seven. They are long and flat, so they slice rather than cleave, and are only around $30 so you won’t feel bad when you inevitably lose it or surrender it to customs.
The obsession with EDC style blades is (IMO) stupid, as most people don’t ever need to gut animal, sharpen a spear, or heroically free someone from a parachute harness. For hiking, you really just need something to help prepare meals with, like cutting open a bread roll, or slicing a delicious apple.
Great deal. Picked one up this morning. I already had a Skeletool but it won’t hurt to have a second one. I didn’t have the KBX before. It appears to be the exact same blade as the Skeletool, which is fine, just a little small. As said above, it’s good for opening packages.
This is a handy multitool, besides the knife it’s got a great set of pliers and interchangeable bits for the driver and it’s very light. Having said that, I carry the Victorinox Swiss Tool Spirit which runs laps around anything from Leatherman as far as quality goes. It’s a bit chunkier, but if you don’t mind that bit of bulk to get those extra functions and you’re willing to spend a bit more, you can’t do better than that imo. The Skeletool is a great starter piece though, and if you don’t need those extra tools then it’s perfect.
had them in Coomera yesterday also
