  • This is the usual price?

    • No

      • Then, what is?

        • You can get two of the $399 frames for $199. I'm wearing multifocal so I need one for seeing far and one for working on my workstation, and this is the best deal to have rimless frame.

          • @Lomax: Hi,

$199 No get two $399 frames.

            $199 select two $199 frames.

            • @jamestan5001: I just checked Specsavers here and it is confirmed that I can get the titanium series (rimless, original price $399) two for $199. You may need to check with other Specsavers staff to confirm.

              • @Lomax: Hi 👋
                Good Evening

                Thanks for your information 👍
I will try asking specsavers staff🙂

                All the best 🤩

  • I used to use https://au.eyebuydirect.com/ but then found https://www.veloreyewear.com.au/ accept health funds because online purchases are way cheaper…

e.g. Velor I got 2 pairs of multi-focals with transitions for $200 which my health fund 100% covered… Similar from Specsavers would be double - although having a shopfront is useful.

Without prescription eyebuydirect is even better and warranty is good - when I had a frame hinge failure they replaced the whole glasses, lenses and all, no questions asked - I ordered a replacement frame and moved over the lenses myself saving a lot. By comparison I needed to argue with specsavers to get a repair for a similar failure.

    • Do you know what brands of lenses do they use (eg Shamir, Varilux)?

BTW, I was told by a staff at Specesavers that some of their discounts could not be applied when claiming health fund rebates. It's sort of a bait and switch.

      • If you claim manually after purchase, rather than telling Specsavers you have insurance, then they can't play games like that can they?

        • Do you mean submitting the claim yourself by sending the receipt? Have you done that and was it straight forward?

          • @EarlyBird: Usually straightforward, most have an app, you just take a picture of the invoice using the app and submit.

But if they have already told you that it is not eligible for health fund claim, then the invoice may not show claimable item numbers, i.e. useless and not claimable.

You need to ask them what item numbers they put on the invoice and then call your health fund to confirm if the item numbers are covered.

      • have always been looked after there, no tricks.
maybe it's your health fund or try a better specsavers store?

        • Generally agreed but had a staff member give me the run around on a second pair when I decided not to pay the extra for both pairs to have the protective layer. All of sudden, the second pair was 'no longer available '.

If you can, always get the same type, as one can possibly be used to fix the other or if you can get the same type over successive glasses, you may be able to put the newer glasses in an older frame if they break.

The other one is they tell you the glasses the frames are easily replaceable long term and then you break them, go back and 'Sorry, we no longer stock those frames'.

Not sure about others experience with replacing screws repairs, had been good in the past, but read one of their internal circulars to staff about no same day fixes if more than 2 minutes to complete and booking in to repair the next two weeks. May be store specific.

But some glasses repair screws on AliExpress. Especially if they have screws. Look for a circular one. Sale in 3-4 days.

    • What crucial measurements that I need my local optometrist to check so that I can input that information for online shop like veloreyewear to build?

      • PD pupil distance

  • I'm conflicted on this as there has been some stories recently where Specsavers have prioritised profits over patient care. But hell of a deal.

    • I mean they are a business and need to go through patients. Last year I had an eye test, they were patient and happy to answer all questions. I then declined buying glasses and they were fine with that. A few months ago I went back and bought glasses. Again they were happy and patient and answers all questions.

    • I worked in the optical industry for years but eventually got fired and that's when I finally left for good. Really dark practices and a lot of misleading uninformed customers

    • Maybe but I used them this year and the eye test was very comprehensive and there was no hard upselling. I'm happy to keep on using them. I'm not sure if this is a deal though as this is usually the price I get through HBF.

    • Of course they do, they only give patients 20min or less of chair time and while independent practices actually give a comprehensive 30min eye test. Some of them even turn you away if you're not buying glasses. Here are the recent articles on Specsavers if people want to have a read

      https://archive.is/20260823124508/https://www.smh.com.au/nat…

      https://archive.is/20260715200640/https://www.theage.com.au/…

      • My last experience wasn't great. Halfway through the appointment itself the optometrist starting discussing discounts etc. Don't believe my lasted even 20 mins.

      • That’s because they have dedicated optical assistants doing the pre-tests for them. It’s actually more efficient this way.

      • Not my experience in different stores.

  • Zenni ftw

    • If you want to go really cheap (e.g. backups) and have the same myopia diopter values (e.g. -3.00 on both eyes) you can get prescription glasses really cheap on AliExpress. Like $10 a pair.

      • How. Please

        • Search "myopia glasses" on AliExpress. The listings (Example) all have a whole bunch of numbers (Note minus = shortsightedness/myopia. plus = reading glasses) in the thumbnail. Also note the interpupillary distance (IPD) is 'standard' so so you might get a bit of eye strain if you have an unusual IPD.

If you got the same prescription on both eyes and your IPD isn't too out there, then it works great. If not then treat it as an emergency pair of glasses, if you break your main one.

          • @safrane: Thanks, Measuring the PD looks complicated. Never buy online just because of this part that worried me.

            • @a1234my: FYI my most recent purchase has an IPD of 62-64, and it works well for me. And you can always ask the seller.

Anyway they're cheap enough that I don't care much for a backup pair to leave in the office, or in the car.

  • Zenni, Eyebuydirect, Firmoo, All much better deals. Can get 2 pairs of prescription glasses on firmoo for less the $80, cheaper with codes

    • How do you get them to fit correctly though? I generally need my adjusted to fit.

    • You don't understand the point here. Specsavers can be covered by health insurance

      • Private Health insurance. So if they don't have any for whatever reason, then those places work. OR I buy mine on AliExpress and use the claimable part for contact lenses

      • I usually find specsavers et al cost me a ton out of pocket with things I consider essential for a +4.5/5 prescription like UV coating and lens thinning. Those things private health considers “non essential”. Buying from Eye Buy Direct even without claiming is generally less out of pocket expense for me.

      • You don't understand that not everyone has private health insurance and a super basic script that falls into the promo terms.

  • SpecSavers cheap deals always exclude what I want.

    • Yeah they've actually told me in-store, during previous promos like this, that they take the good stuff off the shelf for the duration of the promo (like the 3-piece rimless frames that I like).

  • Is it better to wait until black friday

  • Combine with NAB targeted offer ($30 off $120 spend). Check my comment for details - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/17857933/redir

    • Thanks. Will have to figure out how to stack with extras…

    • Came here to say this but you beat me to it

    • Cool. Getting paid $20 to get 2 pairs of mild prescription sunnies… Worth it!!

  • Just bought a myopia glasses from Aliexpress, lens 1.61 and frame from the same store, costs me $22, received within 9 days, prescription spot on, very clear and light. No more expensive glasses for me from now on, I get my prescription from Specsavers and check out the frame size suits you.

    • Could you please share the AliExpress site? I'm interested.

  • Does this work with private health insurance extras? I got 200 dollars for optical, does that mean it fully covered?

  • Brilliant thanks OP I'm going to get a couple of pairs of the Ultralights this time around, and use up my annual $200 optical benefit with HIF!

  • Offer available in-store for all prescriptions. Available online for prescriptions up to +/-6.

Probably requires high index lenses, which cost more.

    • Only if you buy online, no restriction instore

      • But you would need to pay extra for high index lenses right?

  • any? the ones im looking at is 2 for 299

    • Any frame with the price $149 or higher. I just went to Specsavers and got two titanium rimless model (original price $399) for $199 - and on top of that I have to pay extra since I need to have multifocal

  • 2 pairs of ultralight for $199 is really good price if private health insurance can cover it. Might try my luck.

    • Went in the other day, got a pair of ultralight rimless ($399) and another standard pair. Private health pays $180 so was only $19 out of pocket but paid with NAB and claimed private health after, so $30 cashback due making it $11 profit.

Pro-tip I found out, if you get rimless the anti-glare is free, as is lens thinning so as such the second pair can have those addons applied for free as well :). Didn't end up getting any other options, but will go back and get another pair after Jan (third pair is 50% off everything - frame and lens options).

      Pretty good deal

      • What kind of the lens thinning is it? Cause my prescription needs at least two steps of lens thinning

        • Don't know how many types there are, best ask them.

          Or ask ai:

          Specsavers thinning rimless
Specsavers offers high-index "Thin + Light" lens upgrades starting at around $60 to pair with their Rimless Glasses and semi-rimless frames.
Specsavers Thin & Light Lenses for Rimless Frames
          • Design Support: Rimless and semi-rimless frames leave the edges of the lenses exposed, meaning higher prescriptions benefit significantly from high-index materials that reduce edge thickness and weight.
          • Pricing & Options: Thin + Light lens coatings and index upgrades start from $60 depending on your precise prescription strength and required lens index (such as 1.67 or 1.74).
          • Durability: Rimless ranges like the Ultralight Men's LITE 508 use secure plug-and-pin fixings engineered to hold lightweight treated lenses.
          If you'd like, please share:
          • Your approximate prescription strength (or if it's for high myopia/hyperopia)
          • Whether you need single-vision or multifocal lenses
I can give you a better idea of which lens index will work best for a rimless setup.

  • lasik is better

  • No Rayban or Burberry??

    • Thats premium brands. Go to OPSM for that. But the prices wont be anything close and your health fund wont cover nearly as much

  • Can you bring your existing frames to use with this deal?

    • No, the deal is for their frames. Would cost etc .

  • Any way to buy online with Specsavers with prescription and get it covered by insurance, maybe with subsequent claim? Or need to go in store?

  • As others have mentioned, Aliexpress is even cheaper.

I've bought a pair recently that included transition lenses for less than $10 a pair after coupons and cashbacks.

The markup on even the cheaper $39 Specsavers glasses is staggering. They cost probably a $1 to manufacture.

    • Could you share the aliexpress store you used please mate?

      • The store name is very easy to remember:
        GSBJXZ Glasses

Just remember to DM them after purchase or include the prescription details in the order details when buying.

  • This is probably as a result of all the bad publicity they've had lately… heh

KPIs to convert eye tests to purchases.
Bad treatment of a customer recently who ended up having an accident.

    • They have this deal a few times a year and have for many years now.

    • Eye tests are covered with private health, nothing sinister. Never any hard sells, most people go in because the want it need a new pair. The test is required if it's been over 1 year.

      • Optometrists are being pressured to hit sales targets, rush consults and turn away clinical appointments during peak spending periods at multimillion-dollar optometry chains that their employees say prioritise profits over health.

        https://www.smh.com.au/healthcare/revealed-the-optometrists-…

        Poor innocent G-Shock

        • Have you actually been to Specsavers and had an eye test ?

They just … give you an eye test exactly like @G-Shock said.

          • @Nom: When you get around to reading the article I do hope you enjoy it.

            • @bohn: Maybe missed reading it… they should've gone to specsavers

        • Jog on, works out well when private health covers it and need anyway.

It's the cheapest walk in store, go and have a look at OPSM.

  • In KL Bukit bitang there are more then 25 optical stores and they can make your single lense spec for MYR 30 ie about A$ 12, for that they will test your eyes and give you correct prescription glass all within 25 minutes flat.

    • Have to add the price of airfare..

      • I just want to say that we are rip off by the retailers items which we can get under $12 is charged in $100 as special. So when you travel make sure you take a break and get those items when you travel.

        • Maybe for certain things
It's easy to say something is the same as something at AliExpress, maybe helps if it's like for like and list the same brand.

There is also economies of scale. Specsavers are cheaper than most other optometrists, private health covers almost all anyway. Otherwise those cheap overseas options could be worth a punt.

  • Those with NAB, you can stack an extra $30 off 1x $120 in-store transaction after you activate the offer in NAB Goodies.

    • Debit card too?

Usually some better deals at end of year but if you can get any frames in store (incl $399 ones) and keep the lense options simple it's pretty good.

      • Yes, i only have debit and got the offer. T&C says debit/c included.
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/973344

        • Sweet, all helps.. cheers.
Still got a bit of time, been meaning to go have a look.

          • @G-Shock: In the comments there, ppl with private health cover are also paying with NAB then also claiming it manually afterwards with the insurer.

            • @payton: Yeah good tip, if you got no out of pocket you're not paying anything on the nab card.

It's pretty easy to to $120 out of pocket with lens upgrades etc.

  • How do you claim this online? Discount isn't getting added at the checkout.

    • Just go to a store, much easier.
you also need a valid prescription.

  • Does anyone know if this stacks with the 50% off lens options (when both deals are active at the same time?)

    • Click go to deal - t's & c's

Includes single vision lenses. Both pairs for same person. Use with other offers restricted.

Someone said can get 2 X $399 for $199 but don't think that is correct. Easier to pop by a store and have a sus.

      • They are 100% correct. Got the $399 pairs.

The staff even told me it was a great time to grab them before I even asked.

        • Yeah confirmed as well.
Only better times is when you can stack half price lenses, which I think you can.
