  • Please don't neg me (these aren't leather) but as I'm a REAL tightarse, no more leather for me!
Join me, friend, in this tightarsed-ness as I've just ordered this:

For under $20 it's a bit of fun.

    Or these (also PVC)

    • I won't neg you….tempted by a stand in until I can get the real deal!

      • Cool. Glad I saw your post, it reminded me to order that jacket.
They didn't have my size last year.

        • I missed out on the one in your first link…it was nice looking, let me know how it goes

        • +1

Well, to take advantage of Rivers' free shipping for orders over $100, the other half ordered several additional items (all crazy cheap). Some were even for me.
          They arrived Monday 01/04.

The jacket is XXL as I've settled into a middle-aged spread.
          And it's good!

I'll post a pic later if you like.

        • Awesome to hear that…. Do you have the model name for that jacket.

          Pictures would be great

        • It's the 2023MCOAT.
          PM'd.

        • For anyone else who may be interested next time they're in stock:

        • That jacket is back….but at $79.95 and only in "L"….I'm going to have to wait to see if they go on sale

        • Yeah $80 is bull. It's worth a try at $40 max IMO.
Weird that it was on "clearance" for $10 back in March!

        • I know…I will wait til it drops to at least 30ish then grab it

        • …and it has dropped to 39.95…I am going to hold out and see if it falls in price again

  • +1

The best way to get cheap, good quality leather is second hand. Because leather is so durable and styles haven't changed dramatically, you can get older pieces which still look great and stylish for like $50 at vintage stores (and less direct from salvos/vinnies).

    • Thanks for the tip…I will make sure I go and have a look next time I pass one

      • If you're in Sydney there's a bunch of places in Surry Hills. Try Mr C's Flashback, head downstairs - shitloads of coats and leather jackets from ~$30.

        • I will definitely check those out… Shame that working six days a week leaves me with little time

  • In case anyone else was watching… The Myer jacket turned out to be PU and I got sold by a cute smile to buy a Marcs "Mott" jacket for 425…after 15% off.

I failed as an ozbargainer there

I will still hunt the 2nd hand stores to try to redeem myself.

    • The Myer link you posted was PU for $179?
      Ouch.

      Upsold you hey?
Hope she was worth it ;)

      • Yep the Myer was PU….too expensive for PU. As for the smile….well worth it, my partner and another female friend approved of both the jacket and the smile so it must have been worth it.

  • For anyone else who is looking:

Here is another cheap PU alternative from Rivers

and one with a fake hoodie insert like the one I bought (also PU from Rivers)
