  • Polyester fill. RRP is ridiculous.

    • Even $99 is ridiculous to me tbh.

  • Would not recommend, i purchased one. Zippers are sharp and entirely polyester.

    • have you used macpac as well and how do these compare to them?

      • Yes, Macpac is much better.
Superdry does not fit talller people nor people with a larger frame. For reference im 6ft4 95kgs and the XXL from Superdry is too small. Size L in the Macpac Halo fits me and has proper down..

        • Thanks mate - would stick to macpac then and buy another pair of it :D

        • Fit may be better for you, not quality, own a few Macpacs and I used to work for Superdry head office so I have had their clothes for many years. Quality on Superdry has always been superior.

      • I'm pasting my comment from when it was previously on sale:

I'm wading into this argument because I happen to own this jacket as well as multiple Macpac Halos (600 loft duck down jackets). With the Macpacs, they simply were not warm enough in winter in Japan. I had to have thermal layer (Uniqlo Heatech ultrawarm), a shirt and a thick woolen jumper, then the Macpac layer. With all of those layers, when outdoors at night in the wind, I still felt the cold. Then you go indoors and you have to take off all those multiple layers because it gets too warm. With this jacket, it was so warm that I did not need the thick jumper layer AND I never felt cold even at night. This significantly reduced the packing size, both in my suitcase but also generally day to day because when indoors I didn't need to take off a thick jumper and lug it around. So dismissing a jacket just because it has polyester filling might well work for your use case (@brandonstrandy), but it does not mean it won't suit others (in this case, my own use case).

Downsides? I found that I would get hot fast in this as it does not breathe like the down jackets. In my experience, this makes itself felt when going outdoors to indoors (with all the heating that is prevalent when indoors Japan). It was a small adjustment and I still felt it was a better jacket for my use than the Macpacs because if I stayed indoors for any length of time, I would inevitably have to take everything off anyway.

@hotdogwater25 has a good point. The zippers are indeed pointy.

        • Glad to read this. I defaulted to down feather jacket thinking it'd keep me extra warm during Japan winter. It did not and with the extra layers I had to wear I was sweating my balls off indoors. I just bought a new downfeather jacket thats supposedly better quality but I'm thinking I'll get a good quality polyester jacket instead.

          • @Dream-cast: It's more to do with the outer fabric than the fill. The superdry is completely unbreathable and more windproof. If you want something liek that they also make down in windproof external fabrics.

On that, there is nothing wrong with poly, it's just a lot heavier and tends to clump after a few washes.

    • Was about to buy their Fuji jacket but the polyester fill gave me the ick

  • They're trying to sell puffer jackets to OzBargain, but if you look at whole site almost every jacket of every type is at similar sale prices. I got the Hood Ultimate Embroidered Windbreaker on their last deal (when they also only linked a puffer jacket here) and I really like it.

  • not a good colour if you like pasta or burgers with the lot

  • Because it's okay for men to wear chicks clothes these days.

  • Today i learnt superdry is not japanese

    • Fun fact: Their original slogan "乾燥(しなさい)" was nonsense Japanese and completely missing when they expanded into the Japanese market because they very likely knew that. I don't see that slogan at all any more now that they're big enough to not need to pretend to be a Japanese brand. Their About Us page now says they are 'an authentic premium outfitter' which is pretty funny.

  • I have a super dry jacket from 7 years ago and the quality is 10x better than the generic Chinese jackets they’re churning out at the moment. Admittedly it’s still higher quality than uniqlo

Real shame, it was my favourite brand

  • Bought the non hooded one from last years sale - wasnt a fan. Jacket was a bit too long

  • $99 for a 100% polyester jacket? Now this is true expensive plastic.

    • FYI seen outlets of Macpac or something else with 10% down inside. $99 in Melbourne.

  • Used to be a fan of the brand's designs and styles like a decade plus ago, build quality was never great though even at that time. It was overpriced but I still bought some stuff on sale.

Nowadays it's even worse apparently in terms of build quality, I look at the designs now and they're not great (or perhaps my taste changed?)… it's not cheap, not good quality, not trendy, not anything really IMO.
