Mahindra XUV700 AX7 $29,990, AX7L $33,990 Drive-Away (2025 Models) @ Mahindra

1671

The Mahindra XUV700 is being offered with a $10,000 discount in base AX7 trim, bringing its price down to $29,990 drive-away. The top-spec AX7L has received a slightly smaller $9000 discount, slashing the price to $33,990 drive-away.

That makes both members of the XUV700 lineup significantly cheaper than the Chery Tiggo 8, which was Australia’s cheapest seven-seater at $38,990 drive-away until Mahindra announced a $37,990 drive-away offer for the flagship XUV700 AX7L in July 2026.

The latest discount offer is valid until October 31, 2026, and applies only to vehicles built in 2025.

  • Nice!

    • No ancap rating……….

  • Note: these are already 1 year old cars. Not significantly cheaper than the Chery Tiggo 8 as 2025 Tiggo 8 are $33,990. $38,990 is for brand new 2026 cars.

applies only to vehicles built in 2025.

25% off the price of 1 year old stock says a lot about the popularity of Mahindra in Australia.

    • i think this is not the worst thing in the world

like its going to use fuel being a turbo 2.0 pushing 1.8 tons but what universe can you buy a cheap 7 seater for $30k

      stop havin' kids i guess

7yrs on it plus roadside plus fixed price servicing

      • Only 4 years capped price servicing, not 7

    • 1 year old means they are stale and less tasty.

    • Toyota Camrys are hell older and everyone loves them.

      • what? I think shxhshzhz literally means they are reducing 2025 cars - as in the actual car was made a year ago and has been lying around the lot / in storage unsold …. that'd be rare for Camrys - particularly if hybrids

  • petrol :-(

    • yeah that's why these things are on runout

like who is entertaining close to 2 ton turbo petrol suvs that will easily blow thru 12 litres in town

at $1.50 i could do it… but $2 and up???

i'm sure these are shitted out in factories for (profanity) all and there's fields of these things in ingleburn or some shithole gathering dust

      • Official consumption is 8.3L/100km but it seems it could be 10-11L if urban and as low as 7.7L as per carexpert test for highway driving.

That said CarsGuide saw 11L at the bowser yet the car computer showed 8.5L.

        • Always a good sign (that last bit)

      • No body is building a 7 seat hybrid or plug in at this price point.

Which only leaves diesel, which is $2.55+ / L at the moment.

    • Not a bad thing at the moment.

      91 RON is 198.5 c/ L at my local, while Diesel is 255.5 c/L.

Diesel is 29% more expensive. (and they tend to cost more to service too)

And it looks like the prices are going to continue to diverge based on what is going on in the world.

8.3 L/100km Combined rating on petrol is looking fairly attractive for a 7 seat SUV these days, assuming one doesn't have the budget to get into a Toyota hybrid, or something plug in.

But as always with with petrol turbos, you need to stay off the boost (RPM below 3000 or so at all times) or they will drink like crazy.

    • This one is Indian

        • lol SB

        • Well we don't have Japanese backed Australian car manufacturing anymore…

      • How can you tell?

        • It is turban charged….

          • @jv: jv-tech just kicked in yo

          • @jv: Nice one!

          • @jv: Nice one, cobber!

          • @jv: no jv its curry charged, special gas shoots out the back like nitro when u press the button

      • Holden -American, not Australian.. It's a GM pretending to be Australian.. That's the simple reason they where able to snatch it away from Australia.. Let's come out of hangover..

    • Nah, Holdens are the ones in landfill. Lol

    • I really want to buy Australian epic made cars but where they are?

      • you need a time machine and they werent that 'epic' really

        they did epic skids though

      • As per above, mostly landfill.

The ones on the road are mostly driven by rev head bogans on Centrelink.

        • That's not necessarily true. There are lots of collectors for the classics (they fetch big money) and plenty of cashed up retirees buying them
You see them out and about on Sundays.

          • @King Tightarse: Yes but those collectors arent revving it and doing skids on it, theyre kept in great condition and locked up in a garage. The bogans are the ones driving beat up holdens lol

        • I mostly see them in Qld. Land of bogans and rednecks.

      • Mate have you seen the Australian made rocket.

        • Rocket? That lettuce like thingy?

          The rocket lettuce is Australian?

      • ACE EV lol

        • I prefer to buy Australian, but this is overpriced and underwhelming. They can't even manage a decent website. Disappointing.

          • @Big L: They requested an Australian epic made car, so I linked an Australian made one that IMO is epically ugly lol

            • @Serapis: https://www.bolwell.com/history

Lots of niche manufacturers have come and gone. Funny thing is that Australia could have had Volkswagen at the end of WWII and knocked it back (after the UK and US did).

    • much like the pride and joy of one called "holden" ?

      trust the americans they say..
they will revive our national pride they say…
now its just going to appear in museums…
your closes ally doesnt always mean your true friend..the canadians are learning the hard truth. alteast thy have someone who;s got the balls to lead them away.

      • Thanks for that

    • theres one of you lot in every thread

keep fighting the good fight /s

    • It seems having a brain might be a burden to you.

    • Ok clueless boy 🤣

    • more clueless comment

      • pot kettle black

        • ~4 comments a day in the month that you've been online, and all of them moaning. Stay happy! 😄

          • @Big L: user name checks out big loser

    • Lol what a fail comment

      • shutupperyourgob

  • Couple of friends have the xuv and they are perfectly fine if you want a large ice car on a budget

    • mate. i'm in harris park to giraween and greystanes pemulwuy regularly and they are everywhere

      i mean these Mahinda shitters

if they were shit you'd hear about it in the forums and FB etc.

they are pretty reliable but agricultural esp. compared to the Chery Pro Max Ultra Dick 8

but 2 ton turbo 2.0s in this day and age of $2 petrol?

      • I own 10 yo Mahindra tractor and so do my neighbors. Not one problem with it. Tractors usually have a lot of problems.

        • Mahindra are an Indian powerhouse and have made cars since the 50's. They're also the biggest producer of tractors in the world. The issue is (IMHO) that they've only made passenger vehicles for the Indian market until recently, and lack the tech and polish of other manufacturers. They are supposedly reliable, probably because they're using agricultural tech.

Anyone in IT remember Tech Mahindra and how they went down? 😂

          • @Big L: Tech Mahindra has around 150k employees and last year revenue was US$5.9 billion.

They are on the Up.. Not sure what you meant "how they went down"

            • @I like GoodDeals: Sorry, it was Satyam - Tech Mahindra bought them, then quickly dropped the name.

              • @Big L: Yes..

Also, there is a Netflix documentary - Bad Boy Billionaires: India, which features Satyam and how they went down

                • @I like GoodDeals: None of them are clean, like most billionaire families

I read awhile ago that India would be the richest country in the world if they eliminated corruption

  • One of their dealership literally lasted less than 2 years near my house.

    • Lasted longer than the cars they sold.

    • Did they move after they found out they opened up next to you?

      • No, cos they opened a opposite someone who owns a dealership the size of a suburb.

        • That ol' chestnut - thought they'd get the foot traffic and overflow from the big mob

    • Err..

Mahindra: Its current Australian operation dates back to 2005, with the Pik-Up launched in 2007. Mahindra also had an earlier presence with Jeep-based models in 1990.

Chery: First entered Australia in 2011, withdrew in 2015, then returned in 2023 with factory backing

      • counterpoint: chery stockman

      • Worth also noting that the cars they left behind were ultimately mechanical write offs because any decent issues, you couldn't get parts.

  • New model on it's way so clearing stock I would assume.

Reviews on these are all solid - they are no world beater but they do the job well, especially at this price.

  • Doesn't this ten grand off just match the depreciation the car would have got anyway? 🤣

    • i think most people in this category dont give a flying shit about depreciation

you buy a $30k car… or a $33,990 car and you run it and do the maintenance for 7yrs and then either flip it for (profanity) all or drive it into the ground

      • 7 years! That’s optimistic.

      • I reckon they might give many many shits about it

  • At least it has a good size ice 2ltr with turbo far better than the 1. 1.4 suvs around gutless as .

    • Depends on the turbo and the tune. It comes down to the vehicle weigh, vs power and torque.
It makes 149 kW which is adequate but hardly astonishing and pulling around 1.8 tones of vehicle
      1-100 is 9.5 seconds,

      • yeah but 380Nm of torque

what moves heavy things? power or torque?

to me a 7 seater doing 9.5 is just fine and i like 'em fast

also look at the indian market… are they doing traffic light drags?

they want to equivalent of the 'muslim mover'

        • Lol what is that?

          • @King Tightarse: you never heard of a muslim mover?

its like a 1997 clapped out toyota tarago parked outside of a mosque

            inshallah brother

i live close to the minarets in far away exotic lidcombe

        • what moves heavy things? power or torque?

Power. Literally, objectively, provably power. Luckily this engine has fairly high power at fairly low RPM, which should make it reasonably responsive.

          70kW @ 1750RPM is decent.

          • @Dogsrule: Uh uh. Torque moves things from standstill. That's why heavy vehicles or haulers are usually diesel, because they create more torque.

Electric vehicles have instant torque, so they'll get off the mark faster than any (similar) ICE vehicle, yet they don't match for top speed.

"Power is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you go through it" - Gandhi

            • @Big L:

Uh uh. Torque moves things from standstill.

Things move because of work performed, specifically work over a period of time (power). How quickly they move (the metric of 'performance') is determined by how much power they have, and aside from torque, the other component of power is the quantity of angular displacement. This is represented by RPM. This is why in cars that have a choice of diesel engine or petrol engine, where the diesel engine has more torque but the petrol engine has more power, the petrol engined car has superior acceleration.

Yes, torque is one of the 2 components of power (the other being RPM) but power is the thing that moves the car. I could post the math proof, but you can do that yourself with AI.

Electric vehicles have instant torque, so they'll get off the mark faster than any (similar) ICE vehicle, yet they don't match for top speed.

EV motors have high torque and high RPM capability compared to an ICE, giving them both high average and peak power which is why they accelerate quickly. Their top speed issue is because of short gearing - they have a single speed gearset which is selected for efficiency at lower speeds.

  • if only they could tow a decent amount. 1.5ton for an ice suv is a bit sad.

    • They prefer Camry and Tesla over their own brand most of the time 😂

      • Well, that's probably because Maruti and Tata aren't sold in Australia.

        • Literally the same cars are sold under suzuki in both countries. And half of them are manufactured in India rather than Japan.

          • @bruhminister: Not true, Maruti sells a lot of models that are unique to India.

            • @MrZ: Nah. That wasn't my point. Of course they do sell market specific models. Was just trying to say that all the models they sell in Australia, are also sold in India. Not the other way around. Also Maruti as a name has been defunct for a fair bit.

      • Actually as someone of that origin there are 5 types -

        • Delivery drivers = Camry
        • IT guys = Tesla
        • Nationalists = Mahindra
        • Want people to think they're rich = exclusively BMW/ Merc ONLY
        • Are actually wealthy = Carsales low to high, first Toyota / Honda

99% of us are one of these.

        • I have seen this pattern as well, you are probably correct (though I've seen many Enginners of that origin driving Tesla's, not necessarily IT engineers.)

        • I currently drive a Nissan, and my last 2 cars were all Nissans as well. Which side of the debate do I end up on? 😉

      • Range Rovers as well.. wait does this make their own brand?

  • the other side:

    https://www.mitsubishi-motors.com.au/offers/outlander-25my-o…

lol 2025 base Outlander for $41k

    https://www.nissan.com.au/offers.html#category=Offer

    26 xtrail for $38k

    that's at least realistic

  • I remember when launch meant a 4‑month starvation period, now they’re flogging year old stock like it’s bananas at Coles
