  • I wished Milwaukee had this kind of deal too..

  • Might be time to upgrade for my 36V mower. Two 4Ah batteries managed to do about 80% of the lawn.

    ⚠️ Excludes toy/replica/non-18V batteries.

I bet people got their Makita battery shaped bit holders and tried trading them in.

    • two 4Ah way cheaper though. $29 after claiming $50 trade in? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/969153

so you can have four of them for $60. if you trade in two battery.

I have been seeing a lot of these ozito battery deals and seems like 5.2Ah so expensive but not sealed either just like 4Ah not sealed.

      • 5.2Ah are better batteries than 4Ah.

Battery Max W Approx current at 18V Energy
        2.0Ah 450W 25A 36Wh
        2.5Ah 720W 40A 45Wh
        3.0Ah 900W 50A 54Wh
        3.0Ah sealed 900W 50A 54Wh
        4.0Ah 900W 50A 72Wh
        4.0Ah sealed 900W 50A 72Wh
        5.2Ah Plus / Ultra 1260W 70A 93.6Wh
        6.0Ah Max / 4-6Ah Multi 1350W 75A 108Wh in 6Ah mode
        8.0Ah Max / 5-8Ah Multi 1350W 75A 144Wh in 8Ah mode

        • Better batteries but NOT a better discount.

          • @Snoovey: How do we get two 4Ah batteries for $29? They're ineligible.

            • @Clear: ok serves me right for commenting on power tool deal. all I have is the Ozito drill I bought $30 few yers ago. 😬 (it's good quality btw, battery still charge and lasts great, maybe because I only use it very short time and charge it for 10 min just before I use it)

someone else replied to me about the $50 trade in, and it sounded like to me "during the promotion period" you could trade in any ozito battery , and get a $50 coupon. I didn't know it doesn't apply to everything. well I learned something at least.

      • What's the difference, sealed or not sealed?

        • None, other than having an IP57 rating. Same 21700 cells, same size & weight etc.

        • I saw a youtube video of someone in australia opening them.

the "Sealed" batteries have goop on all the metal parts inside, like on the chip board connecting wires and the chip board to all the batteries etc.

non sealed batteries have no goop. so moisture can get in the gaps and it can rust over time. not that I heard or read anyone complaining about problems caused by rust btw.

I commented before, the batteries from other companies like Makita, all have goop on them inside. so it's a ozito budget price thing.

          • @skibidigrimacmoggr67: Not totally correct. Makita12V & 18V batteries may have "goop" but they are not IP rated.

Their batteries actually have an internal path for air to flow through them, as their fast chargers have a fan that pushes air through the batteries to cool them when on charge.

I believe Makita were the 1st to implement this as part of their fast charging.

No idea about the 40V stuff though.

            • @revheadgl:

Makita12V & 18V batteries may have "goop" but they are not IP rated.

but pretty sure guy in video who is familiar, said yes goop is better than no goop when it is about moisture.

I believe Makita were the 1st to implement this as part of their fast charging.

yes my friend uses makita (18V) batteries, and they said the fast charger they got included has two fans to cool two batteries.

it even keeps cooling them after finished charging. they said they feel better not pulling the battery off straight after it's finished, because the fans keep coolign the hot batteries.

              • @skibidigrimacmoggr67: Indeed, the fans run on for a bit after the battery is fully charged.

                • @revheadgl: good design. 👍

meanwhille free ozito "fast" charger they got bundled with battery, has no fan. and the battery doesn't even "click" into the charger? it just slides and is not locked by the button. I guess it makes it "faster" to remove it. 😅

                  • @skibidigrimacmoggr67: I reckon so. My oldest Makita batteries are from 2015 and they still work.

                    • @revheadgl: I read a comment somewhere on ozb long time ago. maybe it was you 😅.

they said as long as you charge Makita 18V battery straight away after seeing 3/4 lights remaining as much as possible, they will last many many years.

                      • @skibidigrimacmoggr67: Probably not me. I have a very different take on battery charging & health from the common wisdom. I mostly keep them all topped up but cycle them.

I never let them go flat. I pull them off the tool when they start to sag.

I also leave them stored fully charged.

The only tool batteries I have had fail were 2 or maybe 3 Milwaukee & 2 very early Ryobi li-ion, and that was while in regular use.

Contrary to anecdotal reviews, my 4yo cordless Dyson V7 is still working just fine with being kept topped up and used almost daily with its original battery.

                        • @revheadgl: Interesting. I thought that 80% charge was better for storage but could be wrong.

                          • @Naigrabzo: long term storage is better at 40% to 60%

                        • @revheadgl:

my 4yo cordless Dyson V7 is still working just fine with being kept topped up and used almost daily with its original battery.

I also have the V7 for many years now.

I never used the dock (if you do you charge straight after every use). instead got used to how long I used it for every time, and charged it roiughly 50%~100% when needed. sometimes drain until it stops for longer vacuums.

since it was bought battery lasted very long, maybe 3~4 years. but yes it died and I bought a replacement battery from Dyson. that one still going fine.

                          • @skibidigrimacmoggr67: I have used the dock from day one. I made stand for the vac & the dock rather than putting holes in the wall.

I guess when the battery eventually dies I will just buy another. I don't feel the need to replace the vac as it still works perfectly for my needs.

                            • @revheadgl:

yes agree. disassemble and quick wash the bin and filter every 6~12 months and it looks good as new.

      • Trade in is only for the 5.2ah batteries

        • sorry my mistake. when another ozber commented about the trade in offer I misunderstood.

I assumed the $50 coupon can be applied to any Ozito product, such as heat gun, leaf blower with battery charger combo anything.

  • Just got these - my first 5.2Ah batteries. The guy on the checkout got a bit confused processing this, just checked my receipt and he only charged me $100.

    • Win!

    • You mean you didn't know how much he charged until you got your receipt?

    • Why'd they come up as $100?

      • The guy was taking instructions from someone else shouting over to him as to how to apply the discount. I think he just applied too much.

        • Thanks, I see! Was hoping it scanned like that lol

        • Need to find this guy….

  • Nice for using Ryobi 36V tools with adapters. Much cheaper than buying Ryobi batts

  • Trade with one of these: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/951565
    $30 profit.

    • profit is not buying or if you need to buy I'm sure you can find a dead 18v somewhere

  • Can we swap a Ozito battery and buy the Ryobi?

    • Pretty sure it's any 18v lithium battery?

  • How many batteries can I trade in? I have two 2Ah 18V Ozito batteries. Can I trade them in and get a 5.2Ah battery for $79?

    • T&C: We can do multiple trade ins within the same transaction. Keep in mind, it is a MAX discount of $50 per new product to be purchased. i.e. 2x battery trade in = $50 each off 2 new products ($100 in total), not $100 off one new product.

      • Could you buy two of these in seperate transactions?

Would that make each one $29.98 meaning you'd trade 2 in to get 2 for $59.96?

Edit: Nevermind, looks like you can only redeem the $50 off on the twin packs

    • Yes that's correct
Twin pack comes down to $79

  • Question for someone who has already done this, do you take the old battery in store go and get the twin pack from the shelf and when checking out hand over the old battery? Or is this something that needs to be done at the service counter?

    • Last time, I just went to the tool shop counter and asked for the 5.2Ah twin pack (they're usually locked up behind the counter). Then handed over the trade in battery, and showed them the promotion page from the Bunnings website. I think they had to look it up on a printed sheet or on the system or something, but it was dead easy

      • Thanks 👍🏼

    • Last year the twin packs were on the end of an aisle in the tool shop (facing the checkout probably for security). They had a piece of paper advertising the deal stuck on the shelf.

Took the old battery and the new twin pack to checkout. Manager had to come and give the OK before the discount was applied.

  • I just counted. I got 3 Ozito tools and 11 batteries.

    I need to stop :-\

    • you forgot to mention how many chargers.

the most popular ozb deal was the 2.5Ah + charger for $19 I think. new price now $25.

    • I have about a dozen tools and (now) 23 batteries.

i have 3 of these to hold some of them:

      https://www.bunnings.com.au/48-tools-ozito-battery-holder_p0…

They are expensive for what they are though but can't find them elsewhere.

      • I got you brother. Print this: https://www.printables.com/model/591031-ozito-pxc-battery-mo… make it 1% smaller. Batteries fit perfectly.

        • Thanks but that's gonna cost me north of $1000 for the printer :-)

I did originally buy some like this on AliExpress (they were clearly 3d printed) but found it a bit annoying doing 2 or 3 screws and wall plugs for each one. also trying to get them all level with each other on the wall was a pain too.

        • I made a design to mount them to Bunnings garage shelf posts. I should really upload that.
          Works super well.

    • I got 20 Ryobi batteries and still need more !!

    • WTF? do you need so many batteries??

  • I've been trying to flog off an old XU1 battery for a while. Always been tempted to just use it for this but then I definitely don't need any more Ozito (or Ryobi, or AEG) batteries to the point I'm still having to pay $100+. Maybe if they did more Ozito deals on tools more up my alley first lol

  • Personally can't find the need of these high capacity batteries, can't justify the cost over the 4.0Ah ones, and I already own plenty, unless there is another from 20% off to stack.

    • The impact wrench, angle grinder, and circular saw all benefit greatly from the 'ultra' batteries - it's the max amperage, not the extra capacity that makes them useful.

900W is the max power for the 4Ah, 1260W for the 5.2Ah batteries.

      • And even the routers which struggle on 2Ah and really need 4Ah.

      • Not all existing tools we bought years ago were designed to draw extra power when available. I could be wrong.

    • Yeah, not really needed for drills and sanders. They are great for lawn mowers and chainsaws that run out very quickly.

      • My lawn mower has spare slots to hold 2 extra batteries that can be swapped quickly when I need.

        • The steel deck self propelled versions uses batteries in pairs. A RH pair will hand over to the LH pair as the RH one dies.

  • Pricing is quite weird with this battery and its 3 SKUs that contain it.

    Battery on its own, $129
Battery with a fast charger, $79.98
    Battery twin pack, $179 /2 = $89.50ea or $64.50ea with battery trade-in

If you dont have an 18v battery, the cheapest 18v battery looks to be this 2.5ah from ozito for $24.98. Giving the twin pack deal a $25.02 discount at $77.01ea.

Better off just getting the battery with a fast charger kit if you dont have an 18v battery around to trade in as youll get 2 battery and 2 chargers vs 2 battery and 1 charger from the kit for trade in.

    • Pricing is quite weird with this battery

Thats bunnings for ya! Cheaper to often buy a battery and a charger then just the battery. So you end up with a charger that is often a waste because people already have heaps of them.

      • it's like the antithesis of the mentality of not providing USB chargers with consumer electronics because most people probably already have a drawer full of em

      • Going by the photo provided, the one with charger is an older model whereas the standalone battery is newer model. I picked up the twin pack today and they look like the ones without charger. The capacity LED are square instead of round and they feel lighter than the old 4.0Ah battery I traded in (which looks exactly like the 5.2Ah with charger in the photo).

      • Next: Trade in a charger for a battery

        • Now that I could get onboard with!

  • wish can trade in two old 18V batteries for one Ozito Twin Pack , to bring the Ozito pack down to $79.

Guess it is just a wish.

    • This is very much possible.

      • Limit: 1x $50 off per 18V battery + qualifying product (e.g. trade in 2 batteries, buy 2 packs, save $100).

2 trade ins have to be used on 2 separate packs.

  • Nothing in the terms and conditions mentions the batteries need to work?

So I could trade-in my non-working 18V Ozito battery it seems?

    • Correct

    • 100%. I've traded in aging batteries with no problems.

    • took a broken 2.5ah one in over the weekend no problem.

  • This works with the lawnmower which has 18V 2.5ah?the 5 ah battery

    • Yes. Any Ozito 18V will take the bigger battery.

      • Nah can I fit the 5ah battery in the lawn mower, or will it damage that?
