but should one update it ?
Why not? I have one and it run perefectly fine on iOS 26, can't imagine any different for iOS 27
iPhone 4 would like a word.
@ricadam: The iPhone 4 famously became slower than my nan in the express lane at Coles when it got updated to iOS…I think 9? Maybe 11? Doesn't really matter which version, but when it got it's last update, the phone became, in most people's opinion, unusably slow.
Edit: It was version 7. My God, I'm old. I bought a 4S (think it was an S) around 2013/2014 at Cashies to play San Andreas because my then current phone, the Xperia Play, was too long in the teeth to play it.
@TheDukeOfNukem: IOS 27 is going to run a lot faster than previous versions because they’ve optimised the CPU scheduler/ram better. Ppl say up to 30% faster app launches
@TheDukeOfNukem: Cool, so how is that relevant now to this iOS version and this phone?
Apple were caught out, the latest OS versions have been very good on old phones these days.
that's the real question
Should probably get 28 too given it was in products released in 2022.
i just looked online and it says I can pickup at Sorell TAS tomorrow, so I would assume at least that store has some for anyone interested
If you’re in north west WA: Broome and Karratha have supply. Hedland does not. 🥲💔
Omg cheaper than last time
Insane price.
I see a couple on eBay at ~$130 delivered, good condition/highly rated sellers. Coles is better for returns of course but yeah, wouldn't call this insane?
Out of stock :(
After a bigger screen.
Then get 2
Tape em together and you've got an iPhone SE Ultra.
fold em and you have the apple iphone fold se
I picked up an iPhone 17e on eBay with a $500 buy it now, I feel I lucked out on that one
From smallest to largest screen:
Is mini not smaller than se? As per the body around the screen?
yup, mini is smaller device physically but larger screen than the se :)
Still showing in-stock for me for delivery (Newcastle NSW) at 7am.
Not buying, but if you're interested and it shows out of stock maybe keep refreshing.
Battery life?
Poor
I had a new one of these the battery was terrible. I couldn’t imagine how bad it would be second hand.
how terrible? this is suppose to be almost new like according to the comments
I think they were saying in other words is that even when new, the battery life was terrible
yeah, i know. but how terrible is terrible? last barely a day? or half a day?
Is there a way we can check stock other than setting different click and collect stores?
Call customer service or call each store directly.
Even that didn't seem to work. Allowed me to order, then got cancelled hours later.
Perfect kids first phone ?
I’d say so, for the price. Especially if you have other Apple phones and can use iMessage, easier access to Find My, etc.
Perfect but 64gb will fill up quickly if they like to take photos and videos.
My kids survived their first years of phone with whatever old iPhone I had in the drawer.
- Battery life wasn’t a concern - they were either home or at school (or random sport/activity).
- Screen size not important - at that stage you’re trying to discourage them using it.
- Speed not an issue, all you really want them to have access to is iMessage / WhatsApp so they can message their friends.
Indeed
Have eSim?
Yes, this is still my main phone!
I bought one yesterday for a future trade in. The phone itself has scratches on two corners, and the battery health is 85%. Both the front and back are in perfect condition. This is the third one I’ve bought. The first two were both in perfect condition, with battery health of 98% and 91%, respectively.
Why have you bought 3? Something wrong with the first 2?
Don't forget codes new and bag for free shipping and bag fee. Has to be first online order which is likely if you're using shop30.
There is also shop25 for some people
What can i use this phone for ? like any apple offers apps which are cheaper to buy compared to google store ?
what ever you use a phone for. its a phone. it does phone things.
does this count for the spend $50 for 4 weeks and get $50 off offer?
I really hope with battery technology advances we go back to phones that are this thin and light. Using this and having it in the pocket is really such a delight compared to the bricks we have to lug around now.
I thought it was just consumer demand for screen real estate making small phones not as profitable
Yeah could be. Also with more and more features/spyware being crammed into OS' and Apps there is a much higher demand on batteries overall. Consider something like an iPhone 8 back in the day could get you through a day's charge with reasonable use but now something that size would severely struggle considering all the extra things the phone is doing.
Interesting question though what came first, the load on the battery or the demand for the screen?
Battery life is also strongly impacted by 4G/5G coverage and usage.
I typically have my phone on 4G only, and switch it to 5G only when needed (i’m not a big media consumer).
Last week I was in an area with bad network coverage and needed some transport information - heavily drained the battery in that 1hr period.
@braddsey: Do you actually notice a difference with 5G? I've recently switched back to a 4G plan after losing a work funded 5G one and I genuinely notice no difference whatsoever.
@LanceVance: I've noticed a difference in reverse - Vodafone has 5G network coverage in my area but connectivity is so impressively bad that it performs worse than GPRS / EDGE back in them days. Had to switch to 4G only on my phone to get a stable connection, and even then the connection speed still feels atrociously slow. Pretty pissed about that because I bought a year long prepaid sim…
@anonym: Vodafone in general seems to be a bit poopoo. I bounce between tonnes of phones, currently on a year long Kogan (Voda MVNO) and they FINALLY shipped the keyboard part of my Ikko Mind One the other day (BlackBerry clone, doesn't matter) and despite doing everything and I mean everything, I can't get the SIM to work on there. It shows up, it says Vodafone, all that, but can't make or recieve calls / texts, no internet ability, nada.
Never had an issue of the sort on any phone with any network before this particular one. It's anecdotal and one off, sure, but it's still compounding to your claim. Something's poopoo at Voda.
@LanceVance: Yep, I do notice the difference. My battery health has reached 90% (iphone 15).
When it was 100% no issue, but now it’s not as good I definitely notice the difference.
was here and oos at 7am. saw spun's comment saying to refresh. manage to get order on app. also put in another delivery address and refreshed until it allowed order.
Showing "unavailable"
I picked one up two days ago for $139. Coles online applied a coupon for me. I can't remember what it was. Pristine condition..Battery on 99 health. Also included a Boost prepaid SIM for a month with Data etc included.
Got one McLaren Vale SA (and that's my second closest store, bonus).
It was black, to the right of the front camera is heavily scratched but very little on the actual screen area, 100% battery.
I was scheduled to pick up my Click & Collect order at 12:00 today and I'm currently outside the store, but I received an email about 15 minutes ago saying my order was cancelled. When I tried to place the order again, the SHOP30 promo code wouldn't work anymore.
I am on a same boat here - mine got cancelled without any reason and lost the promo code. Did the store have a stock in the first place?
Yeah they did that to me with the last iPad mini deal, had to make a new account to get the promo code to work again.
I contacted customer service and got the SHOP30 code again, then made the purchase. I used the same store and the same credit card, and it seems to have worked this time. I’m supposed to pick it up today — they won’t cancel it with 15 minutes left like last time, right.
It got cancelled again. This time they cancelled it with 50 minutes left before pickup.
What's going on with them!
I tried a different store, a different card, and even changed the payment method from credit card to PayPal, but it got cancelled again just 10 minutes before pickup. If they’re going to cancel, they should do it earlier.. I really don’t understand why it keeps getting cancelled right at the last minute. I’ve deleted the Coles app. From now on, I’m only going to Woolworths.
Just picked one up in Craigmore, SA. Created a new account to use SHOP30 and got it for $119. Great condition with 98% battery capacity. Perfect for a backup/spam phone, thanks OP.
were you able to pick the color?
Didn't even think about picking the colour to be honest, the one I recevied was white. The box has the colour labelled on it so if the store has multiple in stock, you might be able to ask to pick from what they have.
very disappointed with the condition of this phone (got from Coles, Manuka, Canberra). Completely covered in scratches, and the battery health is already down to 82%. There is plastic peeling out from the seam between the screen and the case, suggesting a low-quality aftermarket screen replacement. Is it possible to return and get refund?
Yes: "30-day satisfaction guarantee (return to any Coles Store)"
Return was easy
Did you return to Coles?
@OzSikh: Yes, they had one in stock, the one I had, they couldn't replace it so I got refund. Getting iphone with non OEM screen and 82% battery, I can do better on FBMP
@salehiam: Agree but I'm surprised that you were able to return back at Coles, I was under impression that you need to contact the Boost directly.
@OzSikh: They make it very clear on the box/pamphlet inside the box that Boost actually has nothing to do with them besides supplying branding.
It's some second hand dealer as the supplier and Coles is the retailer. You can return it to either of them.
wonder if I can return it for another color
Been that price for at least a week. Cex is cheaper
if you say $230-$270 is cheaper, sure.
Order just got cancelled :(
Order got cancelled !!!
Can you return the boost prepaid for saving $39?
Just order one now for pickup in Geelong for $119.
Never had an iPhone. Worth it for a secondary emergency phone if something goes wrong with my pixel.
Thanks
As someone that's had different Pixels over the years……. there's always something bound to happen with a Pixel
I've done this also. Kids are on iPhones. So I can control them with this little one. Great little system.
I purchased two of these units, and both displayed a battery life of 85%.
is that bad? for 120 dollars this is a perfect secondary phone, how do u even find stock tho
I resisted the urge and instead, channeled my energy into eating chocolate.
Hi All,
Couldn't locate stock for this se model. Instead there is similar refurbished Iphone 13 128gb at $299 before applying any coupons. Is it worth to put extra 150$?
Where is it showing as $299 for you? It’s coming up as $499 for me
It's in store only I think. Can't use any of the online coupons. Could purchase discounted gift cards if you want to go this route.
Yes it's in-store. Found this when I called the store to check the stock for SE model.
My order just got cancelled :(
Will receive iOS 27 btw.
