Hopefully some new factories will open in future to boost RAM production and bring down prices.

I did say "in future".
- 1

China is expanding its production isn't it?
Another industry that they will eventually dominate as corporate greed cedes long term interests for short term gains and screwing consumers.

@Kommodore: CXMT has absolutely exploded in terms of growth, they announced their revenue had growth 800% year on year in the first 6 months a couple of weeks ago.
But they can't grow fast enough, it's still looking like 2028 that they make a real impact, unless AI demand doesn't hit expectations. They may have preordered all the RAM but that doesn't mean they'll have the need to actually use it all.
- 1

@Kommodore: They will most likely be required to focus on their domestic market first, there's no way the CCP will allow domestic manufacturing to prioritise international customers.

@Kommodore: The memory monopoly and the high prices will attract competition despite the high barriers of entry required.

Or AI busted

All 4 memory makers ( have factories coming online next few years. All allocation from those factories have already been pre-purchased.)

If you record that and post it on OF, you could make some money to help you buy RAM.
- 2

You seen house prices?
- 4

And fuel prices? And almost everything else?

There's cusu ram on aliexpress for $100 cheaper than this.
- 2

Genuine cusu?
- 2

It is sold by CUSU Official Store that is a Silver AliExpress store. I have doubts that other than CUSU-Shenzhen Techwinsemi Technology Co., Ltd. is allowed to sell GENUINE CUSU RAM.

HODL

This is a genuine deal, and that's sad
Good to pair with a N150 based home lab
Edit N150 would need a SODIMM. Not sure what you'd pair this with- 1

Yikes…

Deals like this hurt my feelings. Please, do not post them. I remember purchasing first ROG mobos for over a couple of hundreds and that already felt pricey. Where the world now is against any sense to me.

A grand for 64GB RAM. Yikes. You can buy a PS5 for that price.
- 1

A PS5 has only 16gb of ram, if you wan to play games and use MS office, an xbox is an option.
(full office suite via browser and cloud) - 2TB storage model with the $400 cash back offer a few weeks back was about $650?- 1

Wow the DDR4s that I have stockpiled after COVID will have to run until 2030.
- 2

DDR4s i have bought during COVID are still kicking strong. Glad that i have maxed out every machine at home when 16GB was around 50-60$.
- 1

I maxed out 3 machines. 4x 32GB, 4x 32GB, 3x 16GB.
Somehow it turns out to be one of the few non money losing IT decision.- 0

Meanwhile you can buy 32GB of DDR3 for $140 if anyone still has an older system.
- 2

prolblem with ddr3 is that you are going to 4th gen cpus which are like more than a decade old
- 1

Nope, Aliexpress supplies modded laptop gen 9 or even gen 10 CPUs that work in 100-200 gen mobos with 1151, many of which are on DDR3.
- 1

I upgraded all my old laptops with Facebook marketplace RAM for a song a couple years ago. That was dumb. Wish I'd just put my money into Micron and Nvidia.

I'd honestly rather buy 16gb of DDR5 6000/CL30 for $383 https://amzn.asia/d/0dJBG8RU
In most cases it'd perform better and is "cheaper" aside from the amount you're getting of course. A bit of tuning it'd be fine.- 0

I WANT TO VOMIT!
