  • Good luck getting tickets to a decent seat at the Odyssey yet alone on Tuesday at Sydney iMax

    • Are Odyssey Imax sessions still selling out? I looked up tickets a month back I changed my mind as soon as I saw the price…

      • They appear to be sold out except for the eye and next strain seats at the front. How bad are these seats? No one wants to sit through 3 hours of pain

        • Really really really horrible, speaking from experience

      • keep selling out due to travel agents booked all the seats for tourists groups.

        • They are ending the run to put endgame on also, even though it's selling out every session. Why not just keep it running until interest tapers off?

  • When are they going to ban these online fees…

  • Half price at Innaloo too.

  • Can we use gift card for half price tickets?

  • Is this proper IMAX or is it LIEMAX?

    • IMAX Sydney is proper IMAX.

      • How long has it been opened? I thought I heard a story on ABC say the only real place to watch it was in Melbourne?

        • Opened similar time as Melbourne int he late 90s but closed for years as they built apartments above it. When it closed they got rid of their original IMAX 70MM projector. So they are still a 1.43 IMAX site with an enormous screen (formally the worlds biggest but smaller than Melbourne after the reno) and a dual laser GT digital projector (same as Melbourne)

However Melbourne still has it's original IMAX 70mm film projector alongside being the largest 1.43 aspect ratio screen in the world which is why there's currently a lot of buzz about it being THE location to view The Odyssey as they received 1 of the 41 film prints that currently exist for this movie!

          • @Scurry: The Odyssey sucked balls. Like every actor was just annoyingly overacting to impress Nolan.

            • @Dollar Dreamer: Sadly 94% of critics and 97% of people disagree with you here!

          • @Scurry: I thought they used to make them all the same size so they could all be "the biggest screen in the world"

  • This is going to sound bitchy, but the last couple of times I went to the IMAX in Sydney taking advantage of this deal, it wasn't a great experience. The sessions on Tuesdays are generally pretty full, the reclining seats kind of suck they just sink in rather than properly reclining and there are generally a whole bunch of people there who are more interested in getting photos of themselves at IMAX rather than enjoying the movie.

It is utterly fantastic and worth every penny for loud concert movies. But I haven't loved it for normal movies that I wanted to watch, even at half price it's still $32.50 which is kind of expensive. If you are going to avail yourself of the offer best to go to the late 9:00 pm sessions which are usually a little emptier.

  • VICBIAS!!! :(

  • It's an absolute joke when you consider a full-price IMAX theatre tickets in Bali is only AU$6.50 (that's the weekend price, cheaper on weekdays). Even normal cinema tickets are at most AU$5.00, again cheaper on weekdays. In fact, a small Coke or medium popcorn costs more than the movie tickets itself!

    • I mean…. whats your point.
The median annual income in bali is $3,450 AUD.
Australian median income is $90,500 AUD.

So 26x difference. The fact that ticket prices in Australia aren't 6.50*26 = $169 means that we're getting a bargain here in Australia!

  • IMAX is coming to Event Cinemas Miranda (NSW) this December, just in time for Dune: Part Three. I assume it'll also be included in this offer.
