[SUBS, Prime] Ballistic (2026) - Movie Streaming @ Prime Video

460

this will be the last sub deal post promise.

so I watched the trailer for this ages ago, and the story seemed really good. it is shame it's getting ratioed in reviews, but I'm still wanted to watch it.

When a soldier's mother discovers the bullet that killed her son in Afghanistan was made at the factory where she works, she sets out on a path of revenge against those responsible.

    1. Friendly fire isn't
    • incoming bullets have right of way

  • I read supergirl will be on hbo sometime this month.

    • Ir there an R rated vesion ?
      Asking for a friend

  • Is that TLDR spoiler friendly?

    • it's about as spoiler friendly as the synopsis below it. but if you consider watching the trailer not spoiler friendly, then maybe it isn't spoiler friendly yeah.

I just realise now it's quite as long as the actual synopsis, only 1 or 2 words shorter. so I will delete it for that reason. thanks for bringing to my attention.

      • Cersei is back!

  • I don't watch too many movies but when I see an IMDb 4.5 rating I know it's a MUST WATCH.

    • what I find weird is people who say they don't watch movies unless 9.5+ on imdb.

but at the same time say this niche black and white movie with no sound from the 1950's is a "misunderstood masterpiece". 😭

      • 6.0 is the cut off IMO…be cautious anything under under 6.4.

A lot of crap limited theatre run and/or straight-to-stream movies are made these days, with truncated budget and time allocations where most $$ goes to B grade or has been actors for a few days work.

        • Seems like AI written slop scripts are getting the greenlight these days too.

          • @ASR-Briggs: We had slop scripts many decades before AI could write one

        • I think half of these are solely made/funded as tax write-offs and never intended or needed to perform. I guess it creates jobs…

          • @fookos: yep - mostly made in countries that give massive credits/concessions to employ local industry.

up front $$ from streaming services given to producers/actors/writers, crew/catering is cost neutral and profit is in the from of paying subscribers.

          • @fookos: On point

        • tbh I used to get a lot of comments like this (refering imdb). and many they said 9.0+ or 9.5+ only worth watching.

but 6.0 is still two numbers, which you use to decide whether to watch a movie or not and skip it.

so why there is a cutt off?? to me using two numbers from imdb to decide if a movie is good to you or not (subjective), is like believing everything you see on facebook??

          • @skibidigrimacmoggr67: i dont do facebook - so no worries there :)

I figure shills and those who perpetually look for offense cancel each other out in any given rating system, not just IMDB

Then you are left with passionate part-time movie buffs who feel stongly enough to vote either way. This only gets more true as a film ages.

If it's around 5-6/10, its a pretty average movie.

Unless you have seen every other film interests you, I personally would seek a better rated film from the part-time movie buff community, unless it's part of a series you are in to.

And I would also add that more often than not modern straight-to-stream films are trope laden, sluggish, and instantly forgettable - I usually watch, delete, and wish I had spent my time watching an old 6.5+ classic that I havent seen in decades.

seriously good for you. it's known as the "angry app" now because it works so hard to keep it's users angry (engaged). tbh those doing the worst right now probably signed up fb when zuck released, and still have the app installed today. 💁‍♀️

I'm not talking about shills and movie buff in particular. but just the "overall majority opinion" on something subjective like movies, I think is not always 100% correct.

If it's around 5-6/10, its a pretty average movie.

idk as I said I don't pay much attention to rating. but I have watched 5-6 imdb and thought it was amazing! top tier! I have watched 8~9 imdb movie and thought it was boring or extremely meh and predictable. just why I don't trust ratings I guess it doesn't always agree with me.

more often than not modern straight-to-stream films are trope laden, sluggish, and instantly forgettable

I agree. but I can usually tell those movies straight away from the trailer. plenty get release regularly on Netflix and Primevideo.

              • @skibidigrimacmoggr67: be keen to hear some examples of 5-6 IMDB you enjoyed, may be i missed some gems?

outside of silly comedy/horror/superhero franchises, i rarely watch under 6

                • @QuickToThePointless: sorry I can't think of example right now. it's like asking me to rememeber every single movie I liked, and which had a imdb of 5-6, I have to search and look them all up.

it just so happen that I saw the imdb rating, before or after I clicked "watch". as I said I don't look up rating often.

just my opinion is that it's very easy, to point to a number such as 9/10 and say it's a great movie, and recommend. but at times the number itself can be changing you opinion on it. it's also quite common for people to like something, because the majority likes it.

for something subjective, it's confusing to me.

    • 69% (nice) on RottenTomatoes though, so obviously it's a cerebral masterpiece that the regular people just don't understand.

      • often I see bad rating also on movies where a animal dies, extreme cruelty/violence, or just something so difficult to understand that people don't get it, but they hate it. I mean if you don't get it I don't think you get to hate it or love it just my opinion.

if you want to test what "good/bad movie" is I suggest watch Antichrist. I did not get it so I don't have a opinion. but it was not easy to watch or understand.

    • I look at the ratio of critics reviews to audience reviews on rotten tomatoes . Weighted to the first lot tend to be snottyfests, weighted to the latter tend to be the good movies.

  • Cerise wtf you doing ?

    • Sarah Connor, trying to stop Skynet

  • Shame

  • Is this another 'girlboss the movie'?

    • More a convoluted process where a grief stricken mother blames the manufacturer of the bullet rather than the person on the end of the rifle that pulled the trigger.

  • this will be the last sub deal post promise

    Forever or a day 🤔

  • Nice to see we are still making movies about mothers protecting their kids or avenging them instead of strangling them.

    • Too soon

    • oh yeah you aware of that too.

ladies in hundreds all wearing the same colour clothes are lining up giving the "hero's welcome" when she is arriving at court. it reminded me of the ending of "American sniper". they are convinced it's not her fault and the husband manipulated her into doing everything. and there was that 50 60 year old woman who is now facing prison because she recorded all the jurors on her phone, in attempt to cancel all of them. she probably thinks she is hero too.

also more concerning, is the #Killallmen movement. apparnetly lots of ladies not happy when their gender of their child is revealed to them, and will abort it asap before telling anybody about it. thinking they did some justice in the world. this is the first I heard of such extreme sexism I have seen in western society. we are probably going to see more weird crimes like this.

      • I want to thank my mother for not strangling me and my brother when things got a little tough at home :D

        • I tried to reply this twice and kept forgetting it after log in.

Bonnie blue is the better mother.

  • Why last sub deal post promise?? I enjoy knowing what's coming up and also the comments that follow. Very entertaining and I can decide to watch or not!!

  • We're all someone's daughter
    We're all someone's son
    comes to mind.

  • Thought the main character was Sandra Bullock until she wasn't.

  • I watched it and don't get why such bad ratings. it was a decent movie definitely not 4.5 or whatever it was, I swear it was 4.1 before. for a 90 min movie it felt longer because the story was told pretty well and the acting was great. it didn't feel low budget or poorly written slop. if anything negative because it's short, seems like a lot of conversations could have happened, that were skipped over, and that would help feeling more for the characters.
part of me did want the alqaeda guy to be a spy for the intelligence, who tries to set her up or convince her to think a certain way, and then she finds out and goes ballistic! but no that didn't happen it's less of a thriller.

I can see many people not liking it though because of few reasons (potential spoilers).
1- she becomes anti faith, as shown in the early "meeting group" scene where others who lose their children say they put their faith in god. she can't understand why she could lose her son and still keep beleiving god. this is a big no no in US christians.

2- the story, and the ending text shows it's quite controversial because it's covering the topic of weapons manufacture and how the US makes a lot of weapons/bullets/missiles. (and they sell a lot of old weapons to small developing countries, and then some weapons end up with the enemy) US citizens don't want to hear this.

3- they try to gasp humanize a taliban/alqaeda person. again a big no no in US military christian familys. so I think majority of early audience was US based (released in the US) and gave a lot of negative ratings because these reasons.

4- recruiter scene is quite anti military and shows the brainwashing. it can never be the US military sent them to die or come back cripple, even if they suffer for the rest of their life, it is simple the military is always right and therefore he is glad he fought the enemy and will continue to recruit young people for military.

all this and maybe some people were expecting the mother to start jumping and kicking like jackie chan, and dodging and shooting non stop with infinite bullet to whoever got in her way. it's not that type of movie. it's not a action movie it is a real movie with real emotions (particulary grief) and how confused a mother can get not knowing what she really wants.
