  • that is a very long title without the capacity of the drive

    • My bad! Doing this on the fly. Updated!

  • thanks got 2

  • No DRAM cache?

Well they don’t care anymore, all the RAM contracts are pre fixed until 2029 so prices will only increase.

    • crucial gives so little fucs they pulled out and yet the are stilling selling ssds

      • Probably older stock that they're drip feeding out to keep prices high and profits maximised.

    • You dont need dram cache on nvme for PC.

    • Plenty of used 256 are available from people upgrading.

    • If you only need 256GB, you need 500GB

      • Probs best comment under this post tbh

        • 😂 It was mostly just a joke, but back when these were priced sensibly the sweet spot was 1TB, and 500GB was an absolute minimum for a main boot drive, since most home PCs need more than 256GB of software installed (e.g.: many modern games are more than 100GB by themselves, several exceed 200GB).

But if it's for an HTPC or a 2nd drive for a little extra working space (that needs the speed and so can't be a spinning platter HDD) then, prices being what they are, 256GB might be OK in some circumstances.

          • @ItsMeAgro: "It was mostly just a joke,"- It was totally a joke, and a good one at that.
I've lost count on the number of times I wished I'd bought larger than I did.

    • Can get P510 (Gen5) for $20 more - https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0DZ5ZK225 - which is actually a reasonable price (same price as April).

Worth it since it has way better endurance (220TBW vs 600TBW)

    • Only a small increase from the one I ordered for NAS oct'25 for $99. Sigh.

      • Compared to DDR5 ram it is.

    • It's out of stock, so likely they never updated the price.

      • It was in stock before and could add to cart

  • Wow, its been a while since I've looked. Expensive times. I think I paid 110 for a Crucial 1TB mid last year from Scorptec AU.

  • Im glad i bought x4 2TB nvme drives at $145 each 2 years ago

    • Braggart.

    • I paid $400 for 4TB Gen 4 Crucial 2 years ago and was crying at that price (This is when prices started to hike up). Now the same NVME is $979. Nutty.

    • Likewise with my 32GB of RAM for $70 last year

  • Game over man, game over. Soon everyone will have to subscribe to storage space. Once they figure out how to enable a subscription model for Ram, then it will proper game over.

    • In the future they might want us to use Cloud storage all the time and Cloud gaming/computing

    • We'll all be using thin clients on subs so yes, RAM will be a sub.

  • Damn. Really did not want to buy this but my mini PC's SSD decided to die 6 months past warranty…

    • Lol. Typical. No surprise there whatsoever. Enjoy the extortionate prices these days

  • just like how we get used to fuel price…..ffs

  • Bought one just as a backup as I don't have any spare M.2 NVME SSD if my current fails.

  • I heard Micron will stop Crucial brand and fully focus on AI supply to the big guys, might be an issue with the warranty

    • Crazy thing with warranty is they have the right to just refund you completely, if the item is no longer in stock, or the repair is too difficult, and this could mean if the item is too expensive bad luck.

  • Work in IT
You know things are getting desperate when you stockpile old OEM SSDs
Got a few 256/512GB drives now pulled from old laptops and mini pcs
Refuse to pay these absurd 5x prices
