Was looking for some cheap windows into Europe for a white holiday season! So I ran all five Australian capitals against Stockholm, Copenhagen, Oslo and Helsinki across 880 date combinations. There is a genuine window in November 2026 where the Nordics come in under a lot of the Western Europe fares people are already booking.
Sample itinerary: Melbourne to Stockholm, departing Monday 26 October 2026, returning 16 November, Air China, 2 stops, 30h 15m. A$1,159 return.
Stockholm
- Melbourne $1,159 — Air China, 2 stops, 30h 15m
- Sydney $1,169 — Air China, 2 stops. Holds at this price on 1, 4 and 7 November, and $1,171 on the 16th
- Perth $1,480 — Qatar Airways, 2 stops, 21h 40m, the fastest routing on the board
- Brisbane $1,599 — 3 stops, 33h 45m
Copenhagen
- Melbourne $1,258 — Air China, 2 stops, 29h 45m
- Sydney $1,274 — Air China, 2 stops
- Perth $1,453 — Qatar Airways, 2 stops, 21h 45m
- Brisbane $1,486 — Qatar Airways, 2 stops, 24h 35m
- Adelaide $1,520 — 4 stops, 25h 40m
Oslo and Helsinki
- Oslo: Perth $1,504, Melbourne $1,556, Brisbane $1,557, Sydney $1,571
- Helsinki: Sydney $1,588 (Qatar, 2 stops, 24h 30m), Melbourne $1,598
This is a window, not a single date
I checked 44 departure and return combinations per route. Sydney to Stockholm sits within 15% of $1,169 on 16 of them. Brisbane to Copenhagen on 24, Adelaide to Copenhagen on 27, Melbourne to Helsinki on 29. Almost all of it lands in November 2026, so you have room to pick dates that suit rather than building a trip around one departure.
The narrow ones are Melbourne to Copenhagen (6 of 44) and Brisbane to Oslo (5 of 44). Grab those or move on.

- Watch the duration, not just the price. The cheapest fares are Air China with 2 stops, and Sydney to Stockholm is 40 hours door to door. If time matters more than money, the Qatar routings out of Perth are 21h 40m for about $300 more.
- November in Scandinavia is cold and dark. Stockholm gets roughly 7 hours of daylight and hovers near freezing. That is exactly why it is this cheap. The upside is that it is the start of aurora season, Christmas markets open late in the month, and you will not queue for anything.
- If you want summer, midnight sun and fjords, this is not that trip. Those fares are roughly double.
- Prices AUD, return, per person, economy, checked today.
- Bookable directly with the airlines too, same flights.
skyspy.deals compares every airport in a region in one search, so you can price all of Scandinavia on the same dates instead of checking cities one at a time. Free, no signup. Disclosure: it is my site and it earns a commission if you book through a partner link.
