Headstrong, worldly-wise, and often reckless, Supergirl, cousin of Superman, undertakes an interstellar journey to save her dog Krypto from a ruthless adversary, all while exuding a brand of heroism all her own — truthful, relatable, and on her own terms.

      Me and the boys watched MOTU last weekend as a bit of a joke movie. I was pleasantly surprised by it, much better than I was expecting. About 40 minutes too long though.

      I LOVED the MOTU movie. They knew very self-aware and knew exactly who their target audience was.
      
      I brought my nephew to watch it. He didn't know anything about He-Man, but he said it was a fun movie.

    Masters was awesome though, Supergirl was not. It seemed to me that the superpowers possessed by this incarnation of Supergirl were all of the mighty powers of Superman, except weaker. Probably not the female empowerment message the corporate phonies were going for. A near-omnipotent superhero shouldn't be getting thrown like a ragdoll and eating a faceful of gravel. Good actress though, awesome that an Aussie chick called Molly Alcock is now a (funny) Hollywood name.

      I watched some samurai series on HBO MAX before watching MOTU, hence the swords choreographies were quite underwhelming… Movie wasn't bad overall.

      In those instances she was basically human because she was either on a planet that makes her human, or she had kryptonite poisoning.
      
      The Supergirl TV series was much worse in this aspect. It seemed like every alien and many humans were as strong as her

    It's supergirl. I grew up with superman and supergirl and the symbol and idea is still special to me, which made it so much worse at every turn. There's also not much out there to be stimulated by so i guess it became about nostalgia and the possibility of some enriching moments, which were very few and far between.

I actually enjoyed the movie.

Wasn't perfect, wasn't even close. But it was fun. Maybe you'd enjoy superhero movies more if you remember they're superhero movies and not The Godfather. It's okay for a movie to just…be a fun 2 hour romp. Crazy, I know.

      I don't think there's any need to recast Milly Alcock at this stage, she was fine enough for me and I think can perform better with a better script. While I can't think of any mixed characters, there's definitely some black and Indian DC characters I'd love to see. There's already a live action Static Shock in the make but if you'd prefer a woman, I would nominate Vixen. As for Indian or South Asian more broadly, Raven or Solstice or Jinx would be amazing! But unfortunately I don't think it's likely anytime soon with the direction DC is going in, constant Superman/Batman reboots. In the meantime, Marvel has a miniseries called Ms Marvel which has a South Asian girl lead though. :)

just a fyi guys because I seen it before on recently releases on justwatch.

they are right most of the time. but once in while on certain subs 1 or 2 movies are just the TRAILER, and actual release date shows a few weeks away.

it was the case with Mother Mary, which showed as available on HBO, but it was not released yet. source, me I did 1 week free trial HBO on Primevideo expecting it to be already watchable, but it was coming in 4 days. I still able to watch but justwatch was wrong.

I'm not going to say it's a great movie, but I really enjoyed it. Definitely not the worst movie I have seen this year. That is either The Last House or Dislosure Day. On second thought, it's definitely Disclosure Day. Terrible movie.

  I watched it again just recently, after not watching it for years. it's more relevant than ever (i could see reference to ALPR and having detectable ID - "your Unscannable!!") 😂😭 also keep eye out for the upside down nike logo near the start.

      Yes but what can other countries offer that the USA doesn't already have, as far as talent goes? All of the things you mention already exist in the US. Also it costs them more to import, as they have to pay for airfares and accomodation for the overseas actor, voice coaching to get them to talk with American accents, sorting out their work visas, etc.

In 2026 when most productions are an international effort and the box office relies on globalisation including the Australian market? What makes you think Aussies aren't paid well in America? Have you not heard of Chris Hemsworth, Nicole Kidman, Hugh Jackman, Margot Robbie, Russel Crowe, and Cate Blanchett? And in more recent times Jacob Elordi, Katherine Langford, and Elizabeth Debicki?     Australian actors and other actors from around the world, they are sponsored by their government and film industry when they first start usually. So the film agencies pay for their countryman to be in certain movies. Instead of using the grants to fund a movie, they pay for their actors to be in Hollywood films for exposure and marketing. If they become a success from it, then they get movie roles like normal. While the countries film industry takes a percentage of their salary for further roles.
    
    I'm surprised so many people don't realise this and just think its because they are good actors, when they're not even that lol. How many studios and directors do people think would want a Spanish or Swedish actor who puts on a poor American accent, that they also have to use a dialogue coach and its still so poor! Sometimes theres even deals done where certain roles have to have an Australian, like Wolverine, as it was bought and paid for. Russell Crowe was first choice but Jackman was his replacement. Then there's also when filming in another country. Where movies must cast certain roles with people from that country. Like the Matrix as it was filmed in Oz.

    I have friends and family like this and when I ask them "why are you watching that instead of all the great films and tv shows you haven't watched?" And the response from them I usually get is some variation of "isn't that 5/10/15/20,etc years old?"
