  • With the 18 being announced tomorrow, I'd probably hold off to see what discounts are coming to the 17 soon. Or further drops to the 16.

    • I think only pro models and fold are being released this Thursday. I heard Apple will release regular 18 next year.

    • No 18. Only 18 pro and fold

    • The iPhone 18 base model is going to be release Q3 2027 I believe

      • currently expecting be around march 2027 for 18 18e 18air, but indian leak could give us early pic…

    • I bought the iPhone 17 Pro Max recently in Sydney at Costco for $1889 (over $300 off) just a mth or so ago. Both JB and OW wouldn’t match, because they said ‘even tho with Costco u need to have membership, they can’t match. Strict policy.’

Then a week or so later Costco jacked up their price to $2090, while both JB and OW put theirs down to $1899. Now going in this week to JB and online to OW theirs are both now at $1999. I’m having a laugh, when others were telling me early 2 weeks ago that JB and OW were selling at $1899, and were gonna buy it. Now they said they won’t buy because it’s gone up by $100 to $1999. Because they didn’t buy it in the first place. Full of bloody shit! Now they’re holding out for the 18 Pro models or even the ‘ripping them off’ for the Apple Fold — if it is released with the 18 Pro.

To make it probably ‘sour grapes’ for others, it’s already been stated since early August that the 18 Pro Max will be between $2550-$2600 for the entry 256gb, because in shortage of RAM and storage chips, along with the 2nm silicon chip — that analysts are mentioning. Happy Days!

  • How much is membership?

    • $65/yr. Use this deal.

    • 65 but month down you can say you don't see value

      • I've been told (not confirmed) that if you 'pull out' of Costco membership, they won't let you back in for 2 years.

  • excellent find, making me spend money

  • White is the same price

  • Price beat at Officeworks. They still have it at $1247 - https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/iphone-16-…

    • Anyone know any gift cards for officeworks on sale right now or with reward point bonuses? Couldnt seem to find any

    • officeworks dont price match costco anymore

      • I just rang them and got my order in, price beat at ~845. guess i am lucky today…

        • definitely buy a lottery ticket while you're out, today's your lucky day

      • They price beat Costco's price for an iPhone 17 for me last Saturday (Milton store in Brisbane). Annoyingly they initially offered to price beat SkyTree's lower price ($1299), however they had no stock of the colour my daughter wanted, so we changed to matching Costco so she could get it quicker.
Might still be worth a try.

      • they changed they’re policy so you can

    • From Officeworks online chat: I'd be happy to help you with that! Our Price Beat Guarantee means that if you find a lower price on an identical stocked item at a competitor, we’ll beat it by 5%. Please note that this does not cover pricing offered by paid memberships, such as Costco or Amazon Prime. To get started, could you please let me know which item you're looking at and where you found the lower price?

  • I mean how are you supposed to back up YouTube with only 128 GB?

  • Is the 16 much of an upgrade on the 13? Not sure if I want to replace my 13 yet but this seems like a good price. Was also considering an Air but all the cheaper prices on those seem to have disappeared now.

    • For one thing no more crappy lightning cable because it uses usb c.

      • i don't mind the lightning cable but agree that the universality of USB-C makes life much easier.

    • 16 is an upgrade on the 13 but the 17 is much more significant so I personally would hold off in your case. See my comparison comment below. :)

      • Ok thanks for that. Maybe I'll hang out for a deal on the 17 then. I'm actually not in any great rush as my 13 still works fine

        • The price for the 16 is tempting but the 17 is indeed so much better. If you're going to upgrade from 13 then go for the 17. I bought my 17 this year, EOFY sales, and got it for $1308. When the 18 comes out in March next year you may see the 17 drop a whole lot more in price. Or even check the Black Friday sales.

          • @Ozhunterz: I have a horrible feeling 17 will go up in price like all the Macs

    • Yeah it’s 3 better

  • Nice find as this is low for a base flagship iPhone but keep in mind the 17 has been as low as $1149 in the past and is an upgrade in many ways so I personally would hold off.

    iPhone 16 iPhone 17

    • base
      flagship

      pick one

      • No? That's what it is. It's the base of the flagship lineup.

        • iPhone 17 is the base flagship.
        • iPhone Air is a flagship.
        • iPhone 17 Pro is a flagship.
        • iPhone 17 Pro Max is a flagship.

You can also further distinguish the pro models by calling them pro flagships. As for the others

        • iPhone 17e is not a flagship, it's upper mid range.
        • iPhone Plus is not part of the current lineup.
        • iPhone mini is not part of the current lineup.
        • iPhone SE is not part of the current lineup.
        • flagship model = top of the range, i.e. the Pro Max.
Everything underneath the PM isn't considered "flagship".

          • @bAps: That's cool as your personal definition but that's not how Apple presents it or consumers see it. The Pro Max also never drops this low in price so the people on this thread aren't its typical target market. They simply want a flagship which is what this is, not the absolute top of the range. :)

        • iPhone Air more like a Flopship… Lucky got it as company phone, daily charge after just 2 months.

      • Apple itself does not use the term "flagship". It only gets used by tech journalists in comparisons with flagships from other manufacturers. The reasoning is that because the iPhone 17 compares favourably with Samsung's flagship models, it may also be called a "flagship".

Calling 75% of Apple phone lineup their "flagship" is pretty ridiculous, and pointless when there's no comparison with real flagship models (a manufacturer's best phone).

        • I don't think it's ridiculous when Apple exclusively releases flagships and upper midrange. Samsung meanwhile releases budget, lower midrange, midrange, upper midrange, flagships, and that's excluding multiple foldable variants. And there is proper comparison:

          • Galaxy S Ultra = iPhone Pro / Pro Max
          • Galaxy S Edge = iPhone Air
          • Galaxy S Plus = iPhone Plus
          • Galaxy S = iPhone
          • iPhone Mini
          • Galaxy S FE = iPhone e / iPhone SE
          • Galaxy A Series

If you're only looking at the top of the range then obviously Ultra vs Pro Max. The reason the Pro sits alongside it is because there are no compromises with it, except what is naturally lower due to the smaller size. The Ultra is Samsung's only no compromise model.

      • It's like c200 AMG

      • in my opinion. the base iphone until now wasn't flagship. compared to the 16 Pro on 16 you had bigger bezels, no 120hz and low resolution camera.

but the iPhone 17, is the first base iphone I would call flagship (pushing it a bit, but apple is like this).

it got all the previous gen 16 Pro hardwares, at base iphone price. same display so thin bezels of iPhone Pro and 120hz display. it got the 48MP high resolution camera. it got Pro entry level storage 256GB. and for the first time, price didn't go up. some people say it's the best time to upgrade if you are on a older iphone.

    • The iPhone 17 is the best iPhone they have ever made, until tomorrow.

      • I love the marketing of all companies when they say "it's our best one yet" Well no shit. You're not going to openly tell us it's worse than the previous one!

        • They kinda did with all the compromises on the iPhone Air which ended up hurting its sales despite being pretty sleek as the light and thin variant in my opinion 😅

    • This is it. iPhone 17 was a significant jump up from the iPhone 16. If there is ever a time to hold off a purchase for the next gen, the iPhone 17 is the generation to hold out for.

Don't forget the iPhone 17 gets the same new selfie camera as the Pro models.

  • It's 128gb maybe better spend couple hundred more for basic 17 when 18 is out?

  • iPhone 17e might be discounted soon

    • Probably not as Apple is only set to release iphone 17 pro/pro max and Ultra today (US time). Normal iPhone 18s (18, 18e?, 18 Air?) will be released next year. So 17e will still sit as the budget iphone and may get discounted next year.

    • Unfortunately, on the contrary, 17, 17e etc all had a price increase instead. And percentage wise, the 17e increase is higher than the 17.

  • Friendly reminder…

If your travelling within 60 days of buying mobile
Claim the GST back at the airport before you leave

  • Would this be better than the 16e and 17e?

    • Of course the 16 is better than the 16e.

      • 16 is better than 16e in every way.
      • 16 is better than 17e in some ways.
      • 16 is worse than 17e in some ways.
      • 17 is better than 16 / 17e / 16e in every way.
      • 17 is better than Air in some ways too.
      • Air is the thin and light variant with some compromises.
      • Pro and Pro Max are out of this price range.
      • Sounds like a GA question back in high school…

  • many of us on here paid $766 for the iphone 16 until JB HI-FI got wise https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/902167 now that was a great deal

    • Sadly the past is the past… I built my 14900k 128gb ram 4TB SSD gaming rig for nearly a third of the price it costs today…

      • fair, & OzB is where many of us were lucky to find out about them

    • Missus is still using that deal phone as the daily driver.

    • A mate was lucky enough to also stack 14 days price drop / get the difference back, essentially got it for ~$600. He had an existing Telstra plan.

  • 128 gig is the maximum you will need these days also iphone 10 onwards all can do AI siri so can this

    • Sorry but that's misinformation. iPhone X, iPhone XR, iPhone XS, iPhone 11/12/13/14/15 Base/Plus/mini, 11/12/13/14 Pro/Pro Max are do not have Apple Intelligence (AI) powered Siri. But this iPhone can to some extent. 🙂

And it's cool if 128GB is enough for you but it's certainly not the maximum for everyone. There are even singular apps like Wuthering Waves which can take it up entirely alone. 😅

    • Um, don't you mean minimum?

  • Brought it from Officeworks Kingsway for 845.49AUD.
Did not even check Costco membership from me.

    • Where did you bring it to?

      • I went to Officeworks at Kingsway and showed them this.
They matched the price and gave the additional discounts.

  • i got iphone 17e for 700 on ebay like a week ago

    • I got something for nothing

    • Brand new? Legit seller? Post a deal?

      • yeah brand new, was personal seller not a shop

  • Was able to snag one for $835 from TGG. Applied $20 store rewards voucher from the earlier deal and 4% off gift cards from commbank. Will be able to claim the GST too when travelling.

  • Officeworks was able to match for me in Melb too

  • Hard to imagine an iphone dropping in price during RAMpocalypse

  • Out of atock

  • Out of Stock online - also none at the local Lake Macquarie store :-(

  • Missed it, the next best price is $1044 from mobileciti
