  • Stonehenge is not in London.

    • With enough substance, it can.

    • It's true. It's like putting up a photo of Shoalhaven Heads on the NSW South Coast and calling it Sydney.

  • That's Stone 'enge, that is

    • Is it in any danger of being crushed by a dwarf?

  • Only a month out and still that cheap?

    • It's the anticipated bombing of Iran, by USA,
and this news will tank the stock market, etc…

so..the flight prices are probably pricing in the stock-market shenanigans.

      • China is not really affected by the flight path diversions in the ME. They fly over Russia too.

      • If we're going to speculate geopolitically, wouldn't the reported risk of Russia testing Article 5 with a limited NATO incursion be the more plausible concept? I don't see how further conflict in Iran would decreases prices on this route, especially as China has been one of the "winners" from that conflict in terms of stealing some of the traffic from the middle east for being a transit hub.

        • the reported risk

The risk is only listening to one side.

  • Awesome prices.

    • The BYD of flights. Amazing value for money. 2 bags, modern planes. Only the food sucked.
Fyi Singapore Airlines has good prices too atm … E.G. $1465 16/2 to 1/3 out of WSI

      • I totally agree
        but
It's hard to blame their food when a CPA is taking the top job

  • Unfortunately, IWantThatFlight is no longer the bargain flying site it used to be. 99% of the time I will find flights cheaper than what is advertised through IWantThatFlight.
This sale is no exception. I chose a return flight from Brisbane to London 26 Jan - 22 Feb: Skyscanner $1344 for the exact same flight/inclusions. Plus a little bit of cashback ($8 for flights).
More recently, I searched for return flights to Vietnam. iwantthatflight - approx $750 return… Other site $489 return.

    • True

    • What site you using then

      • He mentioned Skyscanner

      • Skyscanner and kayak are my go tos

      • Skyskanner has been really good lately. That has been my new go to. Several years ago I wouldn't need to look elsewhere as Iwantthatflight was always the best. The past 2yrs - not anymore.

  • Are they strict with 2 x 23kg? Can't I do 1 luggage only with max 30kg?

    • Regulations do not allow it.

    • So same as entry is now then.

    • you may be questioned, investigated or even detained at the custom

Just like every other international border area?

      • I love the Australian border control show

    • Still a lot better than the US lol.

  • Do they have free transit hotels for long overlays and has anyone used it?

    • I used it at the start of August (in Guangzhou).

No issues. The hotel is fine, about 10 minutes via shuttle bus from airport. Room was fine; clean and not cramped. Evening meal was okay, but breakfast was truly terrible. Just skip it and eat in the airport. Kiosk across road from hotel, and 7-Eleven further round in hotel complex from transit passenger entry, so no issue buying water, beers and snacks if you need them.

If you do opt to do this, just be aware that you need to go all the way through baggage claim and customs, then all the way through the arrivals terminal to Gate 40 (I think) where the China Southern Hotel Transit is. It's a fair walk.

But aside from that I can't really fault it. Planes (A350s) were very good, legroom is good, food on plane was okay and end to end experience was on a par with any other decent carrier. It's not quite Emirates or Singapore, mainly because the Insurance Flight entertainment is a bit limited (50 or so English language movies); by the time I returned to Melbourne I'd pretty much watched everything on offer.

  • Changed to China Southern last minute for a trip from Melbourne to London in August (I was booked on Emirates but decided it wasn't worth the risk). Pleasantly surprised throughout. Fly on the A350s and they're as good as any other airline. I'm 6'1 (185cm) and had no issues with legroom, even when the person in front reclined into me.

The film selection wasn't premium, but was okay enough. Food okay and cleanliness of the plane was very good. I stopped boozing on planes, so didn't bother me that the bar service was limited.

I say go for it. One of the biggest bonuses is they still fly over Russia, so the trip seemed to go pretty quickly.
