Wow - i'd be worried the tv mounts would pull out of the wall!
- 2

Your entire wall will come in sending your tv down along with your entire house.
- 6

Buy 4 of these, they can be the walls of your house….still cheaper than Australian construction
- 15

I knew building my house with quadruple brick would pay off eventually..
- 5

maybe not so much with quadruple brick which would be very stable… but contrary to popular belief, bricks are quite weak laterally, and require brick ties back to the frame just to stay standing or engaged piers - it's the timber or steel stud frame + bracing that has the strength
- 1

The other three layers of brick will be cheering on the single internal leaf bricks to support the TV

They have it listed wrong it's actually 98.3kg. I was going to say there is no way an LED panel could weight that much. Maybe if it was one of those massive bulky rear projection TV's from back in the day.
- 3

98kg is still alot

Challenge accepted!

Thank goodness I just legally changed my residence to Aisle 2 Harvey Norman Blacktown. I'll dm you my PayID. Thanks.

My super rare E39 V8 supercar cost less than this
- 0

Yea but the E39 is a very ugly car design plus itβs old. Better to buy GWM Ora for a stylish high quality car.

Pls find me Chinese car alive after 25 years lol

Thanks OP

Why? Because you say so?

Seated 3.5 metres away from 115" screen is just on the THX 40 Degrees field of view recommended.
Unless you have your couch closer than 3.5m according to THX, and SMTPE cinema immersion standards… Yes, you need a TV this big or projector screen.
- 1

Who the hell sits 3.5m away from their tv?? You might as well watch from one end of a soccer field in that case.
- 0

My living room is 3.7m (from memory) and my home theatre is 3.6m from eyes (couch rear cushion) to screen.
Most family and friends of mine living rooms would be about 4-5m long, having a couch on one wall with tv on the other.
Curious if you've measured your distance from screen?
- 1

@camshandez: Mine is less than 1.5m from screen. I'm not running a full theatre room but a living room with a tv like general Aussie households. In saying that, if you're running a theatre room, or sit really far away from the screen, then a bigger screen would make it easier on the eyes. It's like someone buying an American Dodge Ram type of ute in a way. Sure, it's also a form of transport and on 4 wheels, but it's not the norm.
- 1

@clubhonda: Bingo, at 1.5m, from a 115" screen, that's a Field Of View of 81 degrees… that's FRONT ROW IMAX! Breakfast TV would for sure wake you up. π€£
So couch distance from screen is the biggest impact on what a screen size actually feels like to view.
But, the "Feng shui" of a space is also impacted. that's why I have a 65" in living room so it doesn't overwhelm the space, and the bigger 120" in a spare room/home theatre.- 0

@camshandez: hmmm… I can't say you haven't made me waver with your comments! Maybe for my next house I'll reconsider it lol

seriously but, what TV rack would sufficiently hang onto the heft of this?
- 0

thanks that does look like a monster rack! that means I've gotta remove the old up to 90inch rack, and replace it with this one, anybody have experience doing this, assume will leave a bunch of holes in the wall that the TV would cover up anyway.
- 0

Yeah depends how neat you want the finished job to look. I personally haven't replaced one before. If the wall is white, there's some pretty easy patching kits from Bunnings to resolve the holes.
- 0

@mafmouf: not so concerned about any wall patching assuming the new larger TV will cover the wall, more curious about the hassle of taking out the old rack and installing the new one which I assume will be in a different position, always wondered why there aren't more installation services where they offer the full service of delivery, take down of old TV and rack and installation of new TV and rack as I imagine it can be quite a nuanced job

Check your electricity cost to see what this bad boy will cost to run over the year…
- 0

Worked it out for my LG CX 65"
- LG CX 65": 250 kWh/year
- This TV: 1,100 kWh/year
- Difference: 850 kWh/year more
- That's about 4.4Γ the electricity consumption, or roughly 340% more
Average daily use works out to about 3.0 kWh/day versus 0.68 kWh/day for the LG.
If electricity costs $0.30/kWh, that's roughly $330/year for this TV versus $75/year for the LG.Less of a concern in my case with solar battery.
- 2

Just know the published figures are a bit "light on", and based on basic sdr using no features at basic brightness.
If you are watching HDR Netflix.. Basically double the figure.
Our LG 55 OLED is published as 90-170watts. But plugged in a power meter and it is constantly bouncing off 300 watts.
Then, I don't know where you are still getting 30c/ kWh for power. Double that rate here during usual tv use hours, which is peak.
Summary, I'd double those figures, then double them again for post July 1 power rates (if you didn't have a battery).
Meaning the average 8 -10hr tv watcher will use an extra approx$2 -$3 of power per day,. $14 - $20 per week, $700 - $1000 ish per year in power use.
Not up to me to decide your spending. Go for it. Just some people don't make the connection as to why their power bill is $240> more for the quarter.
P.S. I use a projector for big screen viewing. It uses half the power of the 55 OLED TV (but doesn't have the same peak brightness or definition)…but thats how movies should feel for me.
- 2

Then, I don't know where you are still getting 30c/ kWh for power
I'm currently on 24c/kWh in metro VIC.
https://ibb.co/rGvBnj2MIt is not even the cheapest inc daily supply charge with only 1c FIT, just wanted OVOs three free hour period to fully charged my battery every day during winter.
Good write up otherwise. Just FYI I am not interested in this tv - partner said NO lmao
- 2

If you are spending nearly 12k on a tv, you don't care about running costs.
- 5

Fair… Well, maybe a few baby bonus tv purchasers came unstuck with big plasmas.
- 0

Does it generate enough heat as well? Would be nice if it does π₯π
- 0

At this size/price. Just get a projector.
- 2

TV will always be better than a projector
- 9

I need this to compensate for something also measured in inches
- 3

Height?
- 0

Does it fold?
- 1

Yes, once
- 11

Not true. You need a second fold to know for sure the first fold should have been the only fold.
- 0

Mate of mine bought one for his wife (wink wink)
Can confirm bigger is better as I watched the final yesterday at his place
- 1

Wrong post. We're talking TVs here.
- 1

BOUGHT 5 THANKS OP
- 1

50k for 4 walls, a ceiling and electrical fittings is possibly the cheapest Japanese capsule studio room out there.
- 0

how do we get in :)
- 1

Over 30% bigger than a 100" TV. Not sure why anyone would need/want this, as anything that's in 1080p will look rubbish. Only good for 4K content.
You can also buy a good projector for much less than this.
- -2

Not at all. I had a 720p projector with 120" screen, looked amazing
This will look even better and the price is amazing compared to what something like this cost 10 years ago.
- 2

There were no 115" TVs 10 years ago. I think they only came out within the last 2 years. Even 100" TVs only came out 6 years ago.
- 0

low bitrate 1080p stuff will look junk yes, but if you're watching 1080p blurays it'll still look great. besides I feel like 80-90% of the content I watch these days anyway is in 4K ?
- 0

I disagree, I have a 100" TV and 720p content looks fine. Unless you plan on sitting closer than 1 meter to the TV, you will be fine.
- 0

All FTA TV is 1080p maximum.
- 0

Next year it'll be $5000. At that size it better has 8k and a really nice upsampler.
- 0

Don't know about $5000 and 8K.
- 0

Buy one of these for a chance to go to afl gf. Sheesh
