  • Does this deal let you switch between plans after first month and maintain discount?

    • My amaysim app says I can switch and get the next 2 months (what's left of my 6months) discount so yes

      • Do you know the price if you switch to the 500/50 plan?

    • Yes I did this overnight from 750/50 for $60 to 1000/100 for $70

      • What about plans not advertised? Ie to 500/50 for $50

  • I'll always ask the question when I see this deal, does Amaysim have IPv6 yet?

    • Not yet but at least no CG-NAT either

      • This is the huge one. Can at least run plex servers etc. if you can get static Ignite Program.

    • Optus's core network uses IPv6, their corporate customers get it, afaik their mobile network does too. I have no idea why they haven't bothered with their residential network.
They probably just have millions of spare IPv4 addresses laying around they've been hoarding since 1997 and figure "meh, plenty. why bother?"

  • I don't see any 1000 plan, just NBN25 and NBN50.

    • Scroll down to bottom

      • Nah nothing there. There's a link at the bottom to : "Check if you're eligible for for a fibre upgrade with amaysim." but this just goes to a 404.

        • Yeah me too

          • @saltysalt: did end up contacting support and fixing this. Turns out don't use Brave browser, use Chrome. Fixed it. Even with brave shields down it still did not work.

  • How good are ISPs at enforcing the "new customer" criteria? Can you sign up again after a few months, or do you need a different email, name, or address to get it if you switch back?

    • Pretty sure if you don’t have an active service with them you are still a new customer

    • I’ve been a new customer with superloop many times without waiting.

      • Will you call their support to cancel plan 30 days before? All the time?

        • Yeah, they could probably use my voice as authorization for all the accounts at the same time

      • Using the same address, email, mobile etc. Do you give notice and on the day or day after it disconnects you sign up again?

I heard that when you try to sign up it sees that the details match a previous account and you get the message that you can't use this promotion.

  • What is their service like? Good connection? Never used them before

    • Amaysim is owned by Optus and runs on the Optus network, so performance should be quite similar to Optus.

If you mostly access local content, you should be fine. However, if you are a gamer or stream international content, you might experience some lag and buffering.

    • Switched few months ago. Connection has been as good as Superloop or ABB beforehand.

Wouldn't recommend Superloop just for their shitty 30-day clause and the pain in the ass it is. I completed the 30-day notice to avoid dealing with them to avoid it, and they still charged me further 30-days. Their service was poor in handling it and refund was USD (wtf??). ABB service was great. Amaysim, haven't had to deal with customer service.

      YMMV.

      • I completed the 30-day notice to avoid dealing with them to avoid it, and they still charged me further 30-days.

Lodge a complaint with their support first. If they refuse to refund the extra 30-day charge, lodge a complaint with the TIO. They usually process the refund as soon as a TIO case officer is assigned.

        • Already refunded, but a shitty company with shitty practices. Shouldn't need to jump through the hurdles, contact complains or TIO. Done just to deter people leaving.

          • @sini180: Totally agree. The whole industry seems to be operating in similar way. Most of ISPs ive been with pulled similar things. So TIO complains seems normal termination process now.

      • I just ported out of superloop, the support chat just waived the final bill

        • Lucky

      • No more superloop for me either.

    • Ok cool thanks everyone.

I'm actually with superloop atm and my 6 month promo period has ended. The best i could negotiate was 65 pm so this is good timing

    • Never used myself but have one friend brave enough to use them and he gets constant dropouts. Has to restart the router a lot to bring the connection back.

      • Really? Uugghh how annoying

Though Ive had optus before and they are really shit

  • I'm currently on their 750/50 plan paying $60 a month from the last promo, and I have to say I'm disappointed.
The connection is reliable, however my speed has never gotten over 500mbps though they advertise it as 680 'typical evening speed'. It's more like 450mbps.

    • are you using a router that can support 750?

      • Probably has Wifi 5 or older router.

        • most likely router.
Even Eero 6+ isn't rated for NBN 750. The max recommend is NBN 500.

    • I just did speed test now. 935Mbps down, 93Mbps up. 21.79ms ping.

  • I signed up with Amaysim recently and am looking to churn out ASAP. I'm the opposite to the comment above. My speeds have been pretty good but so many more dropouts with Amaysim than with anyone else. And I thought Origin, my last provider was bad…

This is just my experience though. Other people may have had a better one.

    • Have you raised a support case through for your drop outs? Has NBN been out to check? If you were having drop outs with other provider, then Amaysim isn't your issue. I was having intemittent drop outs, switched between multiple ISP's and still had issue. NBN came out twice and they didn't find an issue until I asked them to swap the NTD and that resolved it. I'm with Amaysim and haven't had any drop outs.

    • same experience here
and the customer service is a joke almost a copy of shopback ie outside the purview of consumer laws (thats they think).
      works fine with other providers.

  • amaysim is almost certainly losing money on your monthly connection during that initial 6-month promotional period 😂😂 For a standard NBN 50 plan, the wholesale cost alone is roughly $57.60 per month.

    thanks Amaysim

  • I've been with their 500/50 Mbps HFC plan for the past 4 months or so and it's been perfect. Never noticed any dropouts, speeds always around the advertised mark.

As soon as my 6 months of $50/month ends, I'm gonna rejoin asap for the new customer deal again

  • I moved from SL to Amaysim last week (HFC). The $60 for 750/50 is a good deal. So far so good, speedtest is coming up at 780/48, no drop outs.

Theres no ipv6 support but also no CGNAT

  • Perfect timing, my Origin $69.50 1000/100 runs out next week and this will replace it nicely.

    • Where can we find AVC on the origin bill? Can't see it anywhere

      edit: found it in portal

  • Yeesh, so many mixed results with Amaysim… Recently churned to Moose a week or two ago, but FMD they already botched the customer/tech support, however now that any issues are gone speed seems fine. Any hope Amaysim would be any better?

  • Was $50 for NBN500. They dropped that a month ago for $60 for NBN750…. now dropped to make way for this deal… $70 for NBN1000.
Most will barely notice a difference for NBN250 and above.
    Price of entry keeps rising

    • I'm tech capped at 50/20 on FTTN. Two in my household constantly watching internet TV and streaming services without issue, alongside downloading various game and work files etc on occasion.

So isn't the price of entry $45? Will be coming from 50/20 on superloop at $55, for me it's falling.

      • Yes in your case. You may also have a feasible 5g option at these speeds. The competition helps.
Most now have the option for fibre upgrade if not already on hfc or fttp

  • The promo was $30 up to yesterday, instead of $45.

    • I thought that was for 25? I was going to do that one but can't transfer at the moment. Hopefully it comes back.

  • hopefully amaysim bring NBN500 deal back.

  • Amaysim or 1st Energy ?

  • I'm with Optus right now, can't wait to grab my $250 gift card and leave. Speeds are generally fine but there are random spikes in packet loss that make the internet almost unusable for periods of time. HFC NBN 500

For example, the packet loss is hitting me again

    • Same. Although my experience has been pretty good. Not sure if moving to Optus wholesale network of Amaysim would be an issue while streaming through real debrid.

  • Transferring from Superloop, does anyone know the process? Can Amaysim manage it or do I need to contact superloop first, wait roughly 30days and only then transfer to another ISP?
    Thanks

Edit: All good - I've cancelled my plan with superloop and have set a starting date from 1 month with Amaysim - didn't know we could do that.

    • Likewise. Called and cancelled Superloop NBN. They offered $5 off the $114 I am currently paying for the 1000/100 plan.

Will be signing up with Amaysim on 3 October.

      https://cleanshot.com/share/fSTV59Y6

    • Superloop insists on 30 days notice.

What is worth noting: they seem happy to pro-rate the last month, unlike others who will charge you for a whole extra month if dates work out awkward.

Also: you can cancel via chat. The bot will tell you to call them. You tell the bot you don't want to call but want to chat to a human. Then all of a sudden the bot can process a cancellation.

  • Can anyone currently on amaysim NBN and games internationally comment on what kind of ping they get to servers in Asia?

Specially SEA & Tokyo. If it's high, can you VPN for better routing?

    • Regarding pings see my comment here

Or you can investigate yourself with the Optus Looking Glass

And VPNs won't usually help with pings if it's to a different region (ie international from Australia). But you might get lucky by connecting to a VPN of your city (not the destination location) and if that VPN has a different route than your ISP's.

      • I've been able to get around bad pings with VPNs before but I'd rather not have to do it every single day.

Thanks for the info, looks like I'll have to skip this deal.

        • I was on leaptel and got 110ms on asia sever in genshin impact but since i've changed to amaysim i'm getting like 370+

          • @draokun: Thanks for the heads up. Definitely not going with them.

            • @dqtl74: Who's best to go with for better ping rates?

              • @spy: Superloop/Leaptel are generally safe choices. But both Perth > Singapore cables are down atm so routing to Asia is pretty bad all around.

    • 8ms

  • I upgraded from 500mbps to 1000mbps, really I think I actually need 50mbps. I am just paying extra $ to feel good.

  • can we set a later start date ? my origin 6 months promo ends later next month.

    • Can set 1 month in advance

      • Thanks mate

  • From my experience, I don't recommend amaysim NBN. I've had no issues with previous companies (ABB, Superloop, Exetel) getting near to full speed (450+Mbps on a 500/50 plan) but with amaysim, I get dropouts watching netflix and not getting over 200Mbps on average speedtest. Right now, with everyone out at work and school, I get 90Mbps at 11am.

  • Just arranged a Superloop NBN connection from 30th sept, just before the weekend
This better deal hopefully I can cancel the Superloop pre order or if I still have to give 30 days notice, of cancelly, I can fwd book this one for after the first month of SLoop
Only have FTTN so max 50/20 on a good quiet day

  • I don’t recommend amaysim. I canceled my order after spending an hour with customer service without getting connected. The issue is a mismatched MAC address in the NBN system for my property. Other providers can easily update this information, but amaysim couldn't do it.

  • Thanks OP! Just signed up for activation in a couple of days. It says they will do the cancellation with my current provider.

  • Lots of people with issues with Amaysim, I’ve had no issues with FTTP in Brisbane.

I scheduled my connection a month in advance, it cut over at like 3am on that day.

I have a scheduled speed test that runs 4 times a day. Since the cut over there has been no change to my 1000/100 performance. Latency and speed is the same.

I get the same performance that I got with Telstra (not my choice, was a work thing), More, Superloop and Origin.

    • Hey, I am also in Brisbane and thinking about switching to Amaysim, it seems like their main issue is international routing/VPN etc. Do you use any VPN service? If yes how is your speed? Thanks

  • Well that was a frustrating experience! Nearly three hours and 4 separate chats later. I cancelled the request in annoyance!

Took advantage of the offer above. Got the connection date wrong and need to change it by a couple of days.

Since I am existing customer I log into the portal. The NBN service is progress and scheduled, so I click on Get Help to start off a chat.

In chat, asked for account info, instead of my name i provide my partners name who uses the mobile service but I am account holder. Nope, they need to chat to the account holder. I am the account holder and provide my name, nope, no good. Ok so I just close this chat and start another one?! Ok that's dumb.

Start another chat, provide the same info and correct account holder into. I am told they need to speak to the account holder. Makes it tricky when I am overseas. Send me an authentication email/SMS. I have provided all other details asked. Nope no good enough. Chat ends.

Start another chat, provide my details, agent is checking my account, minutes pass. The amaysim portal disconnected so I got to log in and the chat disconnects?!?!?

Start another chat, this time I just tell them to cancel the service! This agent was able to send me authentication codes via email. Another 40mins and the service is cancelled.

To amaysim, if I log into the portal save the chat history or have a resume feature! Train your agents to use a little common sense.

    • All these negative experiences are making me wonder if I should go with someone else even if they are expensive.
