  • Can I run this without RAM or SSD? because I can't get a loan from the bank to buy them.

    • You probably could use BIOS flashback without RAM, SSD and CPU. But you will need at least a USB flash drive.

    • 16gb of ddr5 can be found for around 300 brand new for 5600mhz(ISH). Given this board is on the am5 platform, and you pickup an x3d processor, this should be sufficient to ride out the shortage with steamos (windows wouldn't be as smooth with low ram)

  • Main hassle I see with these higher end mini ITX boards is figuring out cooler clearance thanks to oversized I/O shrouds etc.

    • Yeah I had to swap out my peerless assassin for the mini to fit properly

  • I have this mobo. I sent this back two weeks ago for RMA because it has a "CPU Over Voltage Error". Haven't heard any reply yet.

This is a great board btw. It could just be my board has an issue or Asus making buggy bios.

    Cons:
    1. The ROG FPS Card makes the Sata connectors face left. Because my PSU is on the left (Fractal terra), Sata cables are harder to connect. The board comes with TWO Sata connectors but only one is 90 degree.
    2. The board comes with EZ-plug wifi antenna. Which means I can no longer use the short antenna's I bought from Aliexpress.
    3. It also come with ROG Strix Hive II, which I found totally useless.
    Pros:
It is built like a tank and has top end parts. It has amazing VRM and thermals.

    • Interesting, did you use an updated bios or whatever it came with? Also what combination of CPU, ram profile and cooler did you use?

      • First thing I did was update the bios to the latest.
It worked fine for the first 2 weeks.

        Fractal Terra:
        Cooler: AXP90x47 Copper
        CPU: Ryzen 7 9700x
        No GPU
        RAM: XPG Lancer 32GB DDR5
        OS: Proxmox (Debian)
PSU: Corsair SF1000P (From previous deal)

After "CPU Overvoltage Error", the combinations I have tried is,
        Change CPU to 9950x
        PSU to Lian Li SP1000P
        Cooler Same
RAM with only Single stick (Sorry, no spare ram to test)

Then I emailed Centre.com, sent them the screenshots. They asked me to bring it in for RMA. They did not even ask for a receipt.

    • What combination of CPU, cooler ?

    • What’s ROG Strix Hive II?

      • An external audio controller, as the board doesn't have a built in one

  • I was deliberating to either purchase this or the MSI x870 itx and ended going for MSI version instead. It was cheaper when I purchased it but still cheaper than Asus model though. Only problems it comes in white colour, so I need to consider getting white pc components!

  • Be careful with this one. I've gone through two of these and they both have a major issue if you actually are utilising the full 2.5GB speed of the NIC. Frequent packet loss, dropouts and general just malfunction/adapter stops working.

I've had to purchase a separate 5GB USB-C adapter off Amazon but even that's finnicky with what USB-C ports it likes to work in. The first one I bought off Amazon, the second in store at CentreCom and the issues perform exactly the same on both.

This persisted across several BIOS updates, and no real fix in site. I've tried changing the speed negotiation, trying different driver revisions, no luck. I've resigned to using either the USB-C NIC when it works, or just the Wifi7 as my router is about 10cm away from my desk.

YMMV but just wanted to share my experience.

    • That is the Intel adaptor issues but have you tried updating the driver?

      • Yep, first thing I did.

      • Interesting, appreciate the heads up.

So it looks like a dodgy nic, some workarounds at setting precise speeds and disabling low power mode may alleviate.

Will see how it pans out.
