  • I have this drill and this driver and I rate them both.

    • Ditto - they punch above their budget weight

    • Same. Can't fault them. So compact but good grunt.

    • Are these better then the Bosch Home & Garden 18V 2 Piece Easy Kit: Drill/Driver, Impact Driver, 2 x 2.5Ah Batteries and 3.0Ah Fast Charger Set for $239?
Extra $40 gets you 2x larger batteries. vs 1x smaller batter on the Ryobi set

      • Bosch Green gear is very basic.
This Ryobi kit is significantly better - they're brushless and much more powerful.

  • just when i am trying to stray away from ryobi because I lost my original driver … they pull me back. guess I could also use battery adapters on the ryobi

  • I have this kit from this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/787086, it was 2 batteries for that deal. Great drills, still use them today.

    • Bosch Home & Garden 18V 2 Piece Kit still comes with two batteries. I think i will wait for that to go on sale again.

      • See above - that Bosch kit isn't in the same league as this.

If you just want a cheap basic set then stick with Ozito because the warranty is outstanding.

      • Dude stop trying to make the shitty bosch kit happen. It's not gonna happen!

      • As stated by another commenter, this is league above that Bosch kit you are talking about in terms quality.

A good rule of thumb is, if you see Ryobi HP stuff on sale, you just buy them, unless you're already I'm the Makita/DeWalt/Milwaukee ecosystems.

      • Can't go wrong with the Ryobi HP One+ imo. Yeah you may get by with the Bosch green brushed stuff, but anything more than light duty, you may struggle with it so keep that in mind.

      • the bosch home and garden would be equivalent to the ozito gear or the ryobi one+, the HP is much better gear.

i know plenty of people who use the HP gear professionally. the HP gear is still a step behind the big 3 tool companies but most people dont need that sort of power.

    • forkenell…with 2x 4ah batteries was a great deal!

    • Just realised it’s already been 3 years

    • Yeah, same. Great kit. Ended up buying more Ryobi tools from that. Only issue is Ryobi is only available at Bummings in AU.
Bought a few after market batteries, they work just as well as the originals. Even upgraded my Grandsons Ride on car to Ryobi batteries.

  • How much better are these than my ozitos? Genuine question - i need a reason to spend money of this deal

    • Are your ozito's brushless?

    • Brushless Ozito does everything good enough around the house. I have been using them for last 6 years and very satisfied with them.

  • Isnt this the standard price for this bundle. I swear this is commonly available price point

  • I should get the hammer drill kit instead of this for brick walls, right?

    • yep…need a hammer drill for brick walls… if you're doing a lot then you'll be better off with good stuff… if you're only doing a single mission or such… get a cheap one and buy this kit as well

      • Cheers, will do some research. Just some basics around the home, including drilling some ikea furniture into a wall. Nothing too exciting.

        • The mid range hammer drill (Not the base one or HP) is fantastic. I bought one for some odd jobs, my mate ended up taking it for renovations as it works better than his Maakita one.

    • No, you should get an SDS drill

      • Will look into this, thanks

        • If you just need to put in small anchors every now and then you'll be able to get away with a hammer drill. If you're putting in big 10+mm anchors or a lot of small ones you'll want an SDS rotary hammer

        • Have a look at this Ozito SDS+ Drill (Skin Only/No Battery) from Bunnings. It's very loud so use ear protection. Also get safety glasses and a dust mask.

I used this SDS+ Drill Bit Set from Aliexpress. it's $9 USD when it's on sale.

It's a very efficient setup; goes through brick like butter. Installed 2x wall mounted folding clothlines, 2 sets of door canopies and a new rangehood. It also went through the tile wall just fine(use at your own risk). Used mostly the 10mm and 8mm sds+ bit.

    • Depends on the brick, I've found my old Ryobi one drill driver is fine getting through my brick walls, never need to drag out the hammer drill or the SDS

Just recommend spending a little bit on decent masonry bits.

It's been about 8 years and the clutch is starting to fail so this deal is pretty tempting.

    • Yeh. Hammer drill kit would be better. Makes more sense to have the drill driver hammer all in one if you've got a brick house. Saves having a drill driver and a separate hammer drill laying around. Or having to get both out to put a anchor in a wall. Easier to just flick a switch on the drill driver hammer to put it in hammer mode.

I've also never had to use a sds drill. The hammer mode on the ryobi drill driver hammer has been sufficient to do everything. I had a double skinned brick house that I even stuck one of these 1m long sds hammer drill bits into the ryobi hammer drill to get all the way through and worked fine. https://www.bunnings.com.au/craftright-3-piece-sds-long-dril…

      • Makes more sense to have the drill driver hammer all in one

Do you have any particular models in mind to keep an eye on?

  • If you're buying this as a starter kit you'll probably want to keep an eye out for another battery too. Having both drill and driver ready to go makes projects a lot smoother

  • If only this had come up a few weeks ago… the brushed ozito driver made me work too bloody hard on a big project but prepared now for the next one :)

  • I returned a 5 year old ryobi drill at Bunnings on the weekend with little fuss, they swapped it for new. To get your 6 year warranty don’t forget to register shortly after you buy it, while they’re a budget tool I’ve found mine to be fine for home use, I was pushing the drill hard when it cooked but never had a problem before that.

  • Thanks for the post. Been looking for a good deal for Ryobi drills for home DIY use. Put in a Click&Collect to reserve stock and keen to use on projects.

  • Thanks OP, I picked this kit up at my local Bunnings today. Looks like a this kit is only available for a limited time going by the box label, probably only while stocks last.
