iCloud+ 50GB with Apple TV and Apple Arcade Subscription - TRY ₺49.99/Month (~A$1.43/Month) @ Apple (Turkish Apple ID Required)

880

Received an email from Apple recently informing me that Apple TV is now included with my 200GB Turkish iCloud+ subscription. Checked Turkey’s iCloud+ page and it seems Apple TV is even included in their 50GB plan which is TRY49.99/Month which converts to AU$1.43/Month.

Obviously you need to set up a Turkish Apple ID and billing. Details found here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/718277

Apple AU is not yet including Apple TV with iCloud+ subscription, instead you need to subscribe to Apple One

  • No issues with requiring a Turkish Bank account like for YouTube Premium via Apple?

    • I signed up with and have continued loading my Turkish Apple ID account with Turkish Apple gift cards from Turgame

      • I think it's not much cheaper due to increasing in price for TK while also being craked down.

The Youtube app checks the country against the original payment country. I guess I can change the country but it only allows to change once a year or so.

        • I got the email and can no longer subscribe. YT got me as my payment method stuck with $50 on my account now.

          • @XCelR8: I stopped my family premium due to the increased price. But it'd still save around 50% from memory when sharing between people.

          • @XCelR8: You can sign up free on the Kliq app with your Australia number and it generates a virtual Turkish credit card you can use to verify your account. Then you can keep using your gift card credit for payment

  • Health to your hand, my brother.
    So, no VPN needed?

    • No VPN needed

      • How to subscribe to icloud+ using the new account? Gemini says:

"iCloud storage is tied strictly to the primary Apple Account signed in at the very top of your iPhone's Settings. .."

Ok, I can use a macbook instead, as switching accounts on the phone would cause a lot of problems.
No I just need to choose my Turkish address.

        • Did you follow instructions here on how to create Turkish Apple ID? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/718277

          • @MediumRareChicken: Yes, and a big thankyou. New apple-ID was no problem, just subscribing on phone was a bad idea as switching accounts would have lost apple pay, watch, …
            But macbook did the job.
For somebody who swears he avoids vendor lock-in, I seem to have an awful lot of Apple devices.

            • @bargaino: Glad you got it working. FYI I have needed to switch Apple accounts on iPhone multiple times and everything is still there once you log back in to the primary

              • @MediumRareChicken: "everything"? Do you use apple pay and watch? Apple has not been good at supporting multiple accounts, but does seem to be slowly improving.

                • @bargaino: Only ApplePay. I have never needed to re-add anything after logging back in

                  • @MediumRareChicken: Btw, you can also use iTunes for windows to redeem the gift cards for new apple ID, no need to go through switching account hassel

    • Ellerine Saglik!

  • I remember iCloud can be shared with family accounts in another country, but for apple TV, you account beed to be i Turkey.

    • Apologies, you’re right. I just checked on the mrs phone who is sharing my Turkish iCloud+ subscription, and she needs to log in to Apple TV separately with my login details. I’ll remove that part of the post

  • Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't that mean your locked to that countries App Store. I tried doing this when I moved to Philippines but some apps in Australia I could no longer download (not available in Philippines) so I went back to being billed out of Australia for my family Apple One plan.

    • For apps that are only available in AU, I log out of Turkish Apple ID and log in to AU Apple ID. After app is installed, switch back

      • Just for reference for anyone reading this, only log in / out of Media and Purchases (not your entire apple account).

  • Also streaming might VPN yeah cause AppleTV+ will be geo locked?

    • Nope not at all. I’m currently overseas, have tested with VPN to AU and without VPN. Everything is working fine. The only thing I see which would be different is they recommend “Shows with Turkish Dubs”, but everything is there

    • Nah, you don’t need a VPN to watch the content

  • I have tried this and so far can’t get it to work:
    - for some reason, family sharing is not working, potentially due to country restrictions
    - tried to login to my turkey Apple ID directly on my SamsungTV, while the login worked, it would not show the Originals, so everything requires payment. I even tried to use VPN and it does recognise itself as in Turkey and showing Turkish content.

    • Seems like Apple TV is not recognising the iCloud+/Apple TV subscription. When I log in to Apple TV with the Turkish iCloud+ subscription, everything is there including Originals. With or without VPN

      • The subscription info in the AppleTV app (on my Samsung TV) does say "iCloud+ with 2TB of storage". So it is showing the correct subscription…. still can't get it to work after multiple retries/restarts.

        • That’s odd. I don’t see anything relation to iCloud once logged in to Apple TV. When I log in to Apple TV with the account with iCloud+ subscription, it just says active membership with access to everything

    • I have the same issue. When I log onto Apple TV on PC web browser it works fine and I can watch Apple Originals, but on any Apple TV app I sign into with same same login it just shows me the store where I can buy and rent. Not sure what else to go to make it work

      • You are absolutely right, I just tried login in through a browser using my Turkish apple ID and it works fine! but not via the AppleTV App, both on my iPhone and the Samsung TV.

    • Did you manage to get this to work? I'm experiencing something similar at the moment

    • Free Apple Arcade as well. It's included free with iCloud + in more than 100 countries.

  • Thanks OP. I just signed up for Apple TV, and now I’m watching F1 on my TV.

    • Need a VPN for F1 right?

      • No

      • He means the movie, not the racing

        • Yes, F1 the movie.

  • no need tbh.

they release content so slowly, you can catch up with the free 1~3 months by clicking a link, or offered to you after adding large amount Apple Giftcard to balance (mininum amount $150+ I think, since I have been buying $100 last three times Amazon recently, and only got offered free trial once and I declined because I had other subs and nothing to watch on apple).

also 1 week free trial through Primevideo recurring yearly, if you just want to watch 1 or 2 movies.

tbf apple apparently winning some award with their recent releases, so content release might increase. but until now I barely need to watch any on AppleTV+ compared to other subs.

  • I got similar for my Indian based apple account which is 899 rupees per year or approx $13 per year.

I fund it with Apple gift cards from Amazon India.

    • Any chance of account bans from family sharing between countries?

      • I am the only one using mine so I can't say.

    • Can you please Post The instructions on the process involved. Thank you.

  • I have 2TB cloud+ with Turkeye. How can I have Apple TV playing on my Samsung TV and on my phone? It works in my phone when I change my App Store Turkeye?

    • Simply log in to Apple TV app with same login details as iCloud

      • Mate I’m lost. If I sign in with my Turkey account for Apple TV then I have to logout from media and purchases. So I have to continuously sign in and out?

        What am I doing wrong?

        • Log in to Samsung TV/Apple TV app with your Turkish Apple account details. For iOS Apple TV app, it will automatically be logged in as the “Media and Purchases” account

          • @MediumRareChicken: I’ll try the TV app tomorrow. For iPhone I have to switch between Aus vs Turkish accounts every time I want to watch Apple TV? It’s weird as my iCloud storage works on Australian account but I purchased it with Turkish account.

            • @justanick: For iPhone use your AU account as the primary Apple account, and use Turkish Apple account for “Media and Purchases”. When you open Apple TV app on iPhone, you’ll be logged in automatically with Turkish Apple ID (Media and Purchases account)

            • @justanick: I think you're looking at 2 different iCloud storages, one AU (without Apple TV) and one Turkish (with Apple TV). Easy way to check is upload a file and you'll see it only appears in the iCloud storage of 1 account.

              • @theo96: Yep storage is in Turkey iCloud but when I click on my Apple account (Australia) it shows my 2TB storage same with Turkey account.
But Apple TV on iOS only works when I go to media purchases log into my Turkish account. My emails for both the accounts are the same.

  • iCloud+ with Apple TV and Apple Arcade is available in:

Albania, Algeria, Angola, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahamas, Bahrain, Barbados, Belize, Benin, Bermuda, Bhutan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Botswana, British Virgin Islands, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Cayman Islands, Chad, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Dominica, Egypt, Eswatini, Fiji, Gabon, Gambia, Georgia, Ghana, Grenada, Guinea-Bissau, Guyana, India, Iraq, Israel, Jamaica, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kosovo, Kuwait, Kyrgyz Republic, Lebanon, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Maldives, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Micronesia, Moldova, Montenegro, Montserrat, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Nauru, Nepal, Niger, Nigeria, North Macedonia, Oman, Pakistan, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Qatar, Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, São Tomé and Príncipe, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Serbia, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Suriname, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, Turks and Caicos, Uganda, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Vanuatu, Yemen, Zambia, and Zimbabwe

    • It's like a list of countries I'd least like to visit.

      • I don't know, I'd definitely go to a Saint Vincent and the Grenadines concert

      • I was surprised to see Singapore on it — usually the business model (for Apple Singapore) follows the western developed markets like US/UK/Aus

  • I might give it a TRY

    • which coincidentally is your two cents worth.

  • Price going up in Nov though by +$4.50 AUD (150TRY). Still good value as it also includes Arcade for game players

    • That's a lot of inflation

      • My Indian sub actually came down by 100 rp with this latest change.

  • HHas any one been successful in linking foreign apple account as family account to australian account to then share the iCloud+ benefits with Australian accounts

    • Yep, I share my Turkish iCloud+ subscription with my mine and the mrs AU Apple accounts

      • Great! How did you managed that? When I send my self an invite, even with VPN it picks up and says people need to be in same country, and doesnt let me join. Made an India account, but cant seem to be able to add to the Australian family account.

        • From memory you need to first change the region of the account you’re trying to add to the target region, then use VPN and join. After joining you can then change region back to AU

      • I too would love to know how you’ve managed to get that to work

        • It only shares the storage.

    • Does doing this potentially put your primary Australian Apple Account at risk of termination? I'd like to give it a go, but I'm a little scared of the possibility of losing my main Apple Account.

  • Same to my Indian account

    • Can you please post instructions on the process involved. Thank you.

  • What are the good things on Apple TV?

    • Depends what you like

    • Slow Horses, Pluribus, The Studio, Ted Lasso.

    • Window's Bay

      • Thanks

  • I reckon the best value is the apple one individual on Indian store for less than $3

  • Hmm, also got the email. On the 50gb plan. Not sure if I dare to use apple tv without vpn though. I think they just want to block the other subs you subscribe to saying not in turkey and can the whole thing and account. For me not worth the risk. I just use that phone and its always connected through turkey vpn

  • Good time for it, all the big Apple TV series start up again about this time of year.

  • love this but a Turkish address?how?

  • AFAIK the benefit of icloud + Apple TV is only applied for the primary Turkish account. If you share with family members back home (Australia), then they only receive the icloud benefit but not Apple TV or Apple Arcade

    • For Apple TV, I use my Turkish Apple Account login details to sign in on my TVs, mobile devices, and my kid’s phone. I’m not a gamer, so I don’t need Apple Arcade.

  • Were people able to get this to work with an apple tv app? My main use will be on shield tv with the apple tv app so basically android apple tv app. Looking at the comments, it seems like people werent able to get it to work on the apps?

    • I logged in with Turkish Apple ID details on Apple TV app on Android tablet

    • I can only make it work in the web browser, but in the app (iphone and Samsung TV), only paid content are shown.

      • I can login to my Indian Apple account on any device (I mainly use my Shield) and it works just fine for me. After the usual Apple login hoops of course.

The TV+ app also works on my Mac, same way.

    • I logged in with Turkish Apple ID on app and it doesn’t work. Just shows the store and not originals

  • Save 33c and subscribe in Indian Rupees

  • Do you need VPN to watch on Apple TV? There are no tv series, just movies

    • No VPN needed, everything is there for me

      • I tried without VPN, only movies are available to watch of you buy or rent them (prices in Turkish Lira)

        • You’re logged into Apple TV with your Turkish Apple ID email and password? If so, I’m not too sure. Working fine here on iOS and Android apps: https://imgur.com/a/RJs2L3U

          • @MediumRareChicken: Yup, I have logged in on Apple TV+ on my Apple TV app on my TV, only movies was available.

But on Google TV (Chromecast), I used VPN, and all are available

        • Get the Indian version. Movies and TV shows work fine. Not just Bollywood stuff either. Local Aussie series such as Last Seen too
