Which Golf Cart Battery Should I Choose?

The best choice depends on how often you play, how many holes you normally cover, the number of passengers, the course terrain and the available battery-compartment space.

Specification 100Ah Model 150Ah Model
Nominal energy 5.12kWh 7.68kWh - 50% more stored energy
Dimensions Approx. 593 × 266 × 217mm 680 × 320 × 262mm
Battery weight Approx. 41kg 63.2kg
Maximum continuous discharge 200A 200A
Typical golf use Regular 18-hole rounds and standard daily use Frequent golf, longer distances and up to two rounds (approximately 36 holes) without an intermediate charge under suitable conditions
Recommended carts Most compatible two-seat and four-seat 48V golf carts Four-seat and six-seat carts, regular full passenger loads and longer-duty vehicles
Course conditions Flatter or moderately hilly courses and normal recreational use Long courses, repeated hills, longer travel between holes and commercial or fleet operation
Approximate recharge time with included 15A charger Approximately 7-8 hours from near empty Approximately 10-12 hours from near empty
Choose the 100Ah / 5.12kWh Model If:
  • You normally play one 18-hole round at a time.
  • You own a standard two-seat or four-seat 48V golf cart.
  • You want the lighter and more compact option for easier installation.
  • Your course is mainly flat or moderately hilly.
  • You have limited battery-compartment space.

The 100Ah battery is the practical mainstream choice for most recreational golfers. At approximately 41kg, it is around 22kg lighter than the 150Ah model and requires less installation space.

Choose the 150Ah / 7.68kWh Model If:
  • You play frequently or regularly complete two rounds in one day.
  • You want enough capacity for approximately 36 holes without stopping to recharge, under suitable operating conditions.
  • Your course includes long distances, repeated hills or travel between widely separated holes.
  • You operate a four-seat or six-seat cart with regular passenger loads.
  • The cart is used by a resort, golf club, caravan park, farm or commercial fleet for longer daily shifts.
  • You prefer fewer charging stops and additional energy reserve at the end of the day.

Important note about hills: Both batteries support up to 200A continuous discharge. The 150Ah model does not automatically increase the cart's motor power, but its 50% larger energy capacity makes it better suited to repeated climbs, heavier daily use and longer shifts. Actual hill-climbing performance depends on the motor, controller, gearing, tyre size, passenger load and gradient.

Golf Cart Compatibility

These batteries may suit many compatible 48V Club Car DS/Precedent, E-Z-GO TXT/RXV, Yamaha Drive/G29, ICON and Star EV golf carts. Compatibility is not determined by voltage alone.

Before ordering, please confirm:

  • The golf cart uses a compatible 48V electrical system.
  • The battery dimensions fit the tray with enough clearance for terminals and cables.
  • The tray and mounting points can safely support the battery weight.
  • The motor controller, wiring, connectors and peak-current requirements are compatible.
  • Any original onboard lead-acid charger is removed, bypassed or confirmed compatible with lithium charging requirements.

One compatible 51.2V lithium battery can replace a complete 48V lead-acid bank, such as eight 6V, six 8V or four 12V batteries. Never mix lithium and lead-acid batteries in the same battery bank.

Shared Golf Battery Features
  • 200A smart BMS with overcharge, over-discharge, over-current, short-circuit and temperature protection.
  • Bluetooth App monitoring and external battery display.
  • 6,000+ cycles at 80% depth of discharge.
  • IP65-rated metal enclosure.
  • IEC 62619 and UN 38.3 testing, with additional CE and FCC documentation varying by model.
  • 5-year battery warranty.

Golf range and charging times are estimates rather than guarantees. Actual results vary with cart model, battery state of charge, course length, terrain, gradient, passengers, payload, tyre pressure, driving speed, temperature and battery condition. These are deep-cycle batteries and are not designed for petrol or diesel engine starting.

  • op, what is the idle power consumption of the HSAIO5KW5KWHEUV2 – 5kW / 5.12kWh All-In-One Hybrid Inverter System? Also, does it come with a Wi-Fi plug?

    • This is a very sharp price, currently looking into the specs right now :-)
This is the page for the AIO: https://au.humsienk.com/products/5kw-all-in-one-hybrid-inver…
And this is the tech sheet: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0955/6217/0684/files/HSAIO…

It says the the sleep power consumption is 150 micro Amps - so at 24v, that would be 3.6W/hour or roughly 86W/day.

At 68kg, it's not light - but then it is a very tidy AIO if you are looking at something for a boat or caravan etc.

Page 5 of the user manual (https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0955/6217/0684/files/HSAIO…) shows that it has a USB port to insert a wifi dongle.
The parts list on Page 31 says that a wifi dongle is included.

      • Note the difference between mirco and mili amps. 150 microamps at 24 volts is equal to 0.0036 watts not 3.6W/hr. Your calculations are out by a factor of 1000. In saying that i suspect that a wifi conection will bump those watts up a little.

        • Thank you - I got my millis and micros around the wrong way.

And I guess the "sleep" usage is not all that relevant in day-to-day operation anyway as most of the time it will be in use (unless in a Van sitting in the driveway with no load etc).

        • I saw that but wasnt sure if the inverter is included in that figure..

Re wifi their website says upgrade to wifi version, so wasnt sure if wifi is included.

    • Thanks for flagging this. We’ve confirmed it with our engineers: with the unit powered on and no load, the BMS uses around 1W, the display around 1W, and the inverter around 30–40W, so total idle consumption is approximately 32–42W. The 150μA figure in the manual refers to BMS sleep current, not the complete AIO system. The current Australian package does not include the Wi-Fi dongle/module. Sorry for the confusing information — we’ll correct the product details.

  • Where does one start if they've been acing Mario Golf and wanted to transfer credits to real life golfing?

    • If only Mario Golf credits were transferable 😄 We can help with the cart battery upgrade, but the real-world handicap is still up to you!

  • I'm looking at their 320ah 12v battery. Can anyone comment on quality and what issues they've had? It's the only single battery over 300ah that will fit my 24cm wide bracket.

    • As the seller, we can’t give you an independent owner review, but here are the confirmed specs. The battery measures 522 × 238 × 218mm, weighs around 27.1kg and uses M8 terminals. It has CORNEX cells and a 250A BMS supporting up to 250A continuous charge and discharge. Factory QC includes charge/discharge and capacity testing, with IEC, RoHS, CE, FCC, UN38.3 and Class 9 documentation available.
One important point: a 240mm-wide bracket leaves only about 2mm total clearance, so please double-check the usable width and allow for tolerance before ordering.

      • Thanks for the reply. Is 238mm the width at the protruding part right near the top of the battery? If so it will be fine.

        • yes, Sir.

  • Great prices for the 16Kwh Version. Do you have in-depth technical details of the cell please (it just says A grade, but which manufacturer in China)? Wanted to understand fire-safety and issues before installing for our shed. Also BMS software, do you have a link in playstore/appstore plz or is it responsiblity of Inverter software?

Also do you have any tie-up with sparkies? for installation and support?

    • Thanks — the 300Ah and 314Ah versions use Grade A LiFePO4 cells from REPT or CORNEX, depending on the production batch.
The metal enclosure is rated IP54 and should be installed in a dry indoor area. We don’t claim that the complete battery is fireproof. The BMS protects against overcharge, over-discharge, over-current, short circuit, high temperature and low-temperature charging, with 2–4 temperature sensors depending on the version. Rated cycle life is 6,000 cycles at 80% DoD.
CAN and RS485 communication supports selected compatible inverters, including Victron and Growatt. Please send us the exact inverter model before ordering so the protocol and cable pinout can be checked. Don’t assume every RJ45 cable uses the same pinout.
Bluetooth monitoring uses a separate BMS app. Installation isn’t included, so a suitably qualified electrician should be used for system design and installation.

  • @AU Humsienk,
Do we get the battery cables with the Humsienk 48V (51.2V) 300Ah battery?

    • Doubt it, I have a Humsienk 5kwh rack mount and it only came with short 20cm cables for connecting to a second rack mount placed on top of it. To save $ on longer cables buy welding cable and crimp your own lugs on it.

      • Whats your thought on the product and the company and their products?

        • I've only had it in use for a few weeks and it's only doing light duty so not stress tested in any way. I bought based on a lot of research in to the best value for money (not necessarily the absolute cheapest) but it turned out to be the cheapest anyway with similar quality to other low-medium cost options. Wattcycle 5kwh rack mount was an option but it was about $200 more at the time but since come down in price and Humsienk gone up a bit so they are much closer. The Wattcycle has a screen which Hum doesn't and is was a quality item so it would have been my choice at similar price BUT recently Will Prowse did a tear down of a 12V Wattcycle that he had already opened up and reviewed previously as a great battery for the price, and found they had changed the design to a significantly inferior one. So I ruled out the Wattcycle because you can't trust what you're actually getting.

The only slightly negative thing about my Humsienk is the bluetooth signal (hence range) is very low. No way to know if they're all like that (maybe try a search).

@podilamaya there is name for the connectors on the cable you want, I looked into them just cant remember it. The genuine Hums aren't too exxy https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/168549290635 I wouldn't trust Aliexpress on cables unless they state pure copper and there are recent reviews to verify. Copper coated aluminium is often what makes cheap cables cheap.

          • @skysurfer: Thanks for sharing your real-world experience. Glad to hear the battery has been working well so far. Bluetooth is intended for close-range monitoring, but if the range seems unusually weak, please message us with your order number and phone model so we can help check it.

      • @skysurfer These 314Ah batteries use a different connector, so you'll need to buy them from them to find the correct size on AliExpress.
BTW, where did you purchase the rack for your Humsienk batteries (if you rack-mounted), and are you happy with those 5kWh batteries?

    • Yes, the 300Ah/314Ah wall-mounted battery includes one positive and one negative battery cable. Depending on the distance to your inverter and the installation layout, your installer may still need correctly sized custom cables.

  • Do we need electrician for this type of voltage and capacity of we don't wire it to the house? Just to a portable inverter

    • Even if it isn’t connected to the house, this is still a high-energy 51.2V system. We strongly recommend using a licensed electrician or someone professionally qualified in high-current DC systems.
Cable sizing, fusing, isolation, polarity and earthing all need to be correct. Any fixed 230V or grid-connected work must be completed by a licensed electrician.
