  • Discount is discount but Greedy Kayo and news corpse can get stuffed.

    • I'm lucky that my favourite sport is soccer so I ended up getting BeinSports. It cost $130 for a year and I get Spanish, Italian, German, Turkish, Scottish leagues, English 2nd tier and a tonne of Tennis, including The Davis Cup. It is owned by the Qatari government though, sadly.

      • BEIN is rubbish

      • Laliga FTW!

        • I've been enjoying La Liga. I've not watched much of it for a few seasons.

          • @kiriakoz: I've been enjoying seeing Lamine Yamal, Pedri and RAfinya. :)

    • kayo are scum, and im looking towards the high seas for all my sporting needs from now…

      • How? it's a real pain to get Laliga games….

    • "Location: Victoria"

      Shocked to be sitting here.

    • Newscorp sold Kayo a while ago, but they can still get stuffed

    • No longer owned by News Corp.

    • Greedy Kayo and ̶n̶e̶w̶s̶ ̶c̶o̶r̶p̶s̶e̶ DAZN can get stuffed.

      FTFY

    • Len Blavatnik is no better than Murdoch. And that's saying something!

  • Im astonished how expensive this kayo is
Its almost like their goal is deter consumer interest in sport

Even the discount code is so complex almost like they dont want it used

    • It's totally rubbish the AFL and other sports signed up for Kayo. Hard to get kids into AFL if they cant watch live on the weekend.

      It's a total rip off.

We end up watching on replay (via afl.com piped to the telly) but sadly its 50/50 if the result is ruined for us before-hand, and I always see the result setting up the replay from my phone :(

      • Or if you really love the AFL that much that you need to watch more than just what's on free to air, you could just not be an ultra tight-arse and pay the $20-30pm that you can get kayo for through the various deals available throughout the year.

Everyone loves to hate on them because newscorp & (it used to be Murdoch was brought up in every kayo deal, he lives rent free in most ozbargain/Redditors heads) owns them… But ultimately it's just the way of professional sports now. Kayo/Foxtel just paid 5.3 BILLION for the NRL rights, AFL will be looking for even more on their next deal, if you want to call anyone "greedy" it's the professional athletes. Tell them they need to go back to working a 2nd job and just running it as a casual comp so you can watch them play for free…

        • Players get 32% of revenue under their CBA. That doesn't immediately strike me as unreasonable.

          • @reu: Maybe I wasn't clear enough, but I was taking the piss. I'm not actually saying to have a whinge to the players for getting paid too much. I'm just saying, In a free market, the rights to NRL are currently worth 5.3B.

Fox isn't in the charity business so they wouldn't have paid more than they needed to secure them and if they didn't get them, then all that would mean is that someone else would have paid 5.2B and had to recoup that cost as well.

People just seem to live in lala land and think everything should be 4K, on demand, streamed to any device they own with a native app and of course, free… Oh and no ads either! We hate those too.

            • @Binchicken22: Or at the very least we believe that if we pay for a 4K service, we ought to be able to receive a 4K stream even if we're watching on our computer rather than a television.

              • @AnotherBargainHunter: Yeah that's fair.

Ultimately that would be a pretty niech use case though I would imagine, the majority of users would be on TVs or mobile devices and as a consolation at least they have the cheaper non-4K plan available so if you use PC the majority of the time you don't have to pay for something you aren't able to use.

        • Its kind of the thing though,
The price is so high because the assertion "look all the value you get"
Camels playing darts, women playing golf, cricket in the desert and raccoons ice skating

But if you only want AFL
i Genuinely doubt 32% of the Kayo 'total' revenue goes to players
It would be 32% of the amount Kayo pays the AFL,
which is the difference after after all these other hundreds of sporting associations
They are also paid from that $20 pm
so most likely 32% of say $2 of your subscription, the rest going to sports you have 0 interest in supporting

          • @cski: Have a look at the pricing for NFL, F1 and NBA "single sports" season passes and then come back and complain about kayos $20-30pm…

        • Never seen such bootlicking on here.

  • If this was the start and not end of the NRL season would take it. Foxtel now app works better than kayo, on a 10 day free trial to get last of the games in. Will be 4K end of September.

    • I think you have pinpointed why they are offering it

      • same as the AFL season

    • Yeah NFL and NBA coverage is ok plus NBL and BBL but if you don't like basketball, it's pretty bad.

    • 4K by the end of September has that been announced anywhere? Will they charge more than the current rate?

    • Yeah it's to prevent churn, subscribers cancelling to subscribe to Stan Sport or similar. With so many choices, consumers bounce around more than ever, so every streamer does what they can to try and retain them, especially during lulls in major sporting competitions.

  • Or $60 for 38,000 channels with 4K option

    • Explain yourself

      • IPTV

      • I'm the one who knocks

      • 1080p shared IPTV that drops out mid game.

    • Or free for 38,000 channels with 4K option 🏴‍☠️

      • Which one? All seem to die quickly

        • FMHY
          Go to streaming
          Sports
Bintv is the most reliable source I found, if you're using PC download lossless scaling 🏴‍☠️ and it will smooth out sports like a tv once dialled in

    • Don't get AFL at 4k… at least not where I've seen.

Mind to dm me your IPTV provider?

      • Yeah likewise - would be interested to know via dm

      • I like to think I have my ear pretty close to the ground, and I don't think there have been AUS 4k sources since around the middle of the season.

        • Yeah I haven't seen any for awhile either.

Earlier in the year could watch NRL in 4k on my sub however I'm told that Kayo is one of the hardest broadcasts to reproduce.

      • Yeah he's full of it. None of them have 4k Aus channels.

Just the usual terminally online idiot who thinks having 38,000 channels of Philippino elephant racing and shit that buffers, changes servers constantly, no catch up or curated "minis" so if you miss it you miss it and you've gotta pay for with trump-coin is totally a way better service because it's "only $100 for a year" (as long as the service doesn't fold and ghost you 3 months in…).

        • Not sure where you’ve subscribed to but I’ve had the same service for 18 months and only had to update the server address once

          • @DryScissors: I've had to update mine about 6 times so far in my 12 month subscription. About 9 months in now I reckon.

          • @DryScissors: Lol literally just now got a message on telegram saying their server got hit by a Russian drone.

    • IPTV's are still not quite there yet, especially the set up required for them

      • Buy a link. Buy iptv app. Paste that link. Done

    • Depends what you're after. I use IPTV myself for a few sports, but you're not finding AFL in 4k. I find AFL pretty rubbish on it TBH.

      • I have all AUS and NZ channels in full quality. Never had an issue

        • What is full quality to you? I’ve tried a few from lesser known to the really popular services and none had a game of AFL in 4K. They just have the Fox 504 channel which is 1080i.

Then international channels like Sky and TNT are basically the same as 504.

Would love to be proven wrong. I still keep an IPTV service for other things so If I can find higher quality AFL games via IPTV I’ll never look at Kayo again. Dm if don’t want to share it publically.

    • Never had an iptv subscription that didn't buffer too often, often at a crucial time in sport.

  • Im on $15 a month atm, watched 3 afl games and 2x f1 races in 5 months. Not worth it for me

When my promo ends I wont be back for a long long time

Kayo marketing your enshitification is strong, keep going with your nvidia playbook

    • hope you watched the 2 prelims over the weekend…not like 3 bombers and eagles regular season games

      • @motion2082 had no time for those games as watching replay of MADRING all weekend.

        • Did you die of boredom? Whoever designed this circuit needs to be shot.

  • And you still have to watch ads too during the broadcast. Without AFL and with nba on prime and espn on Disney plus. Even more of a crap deal.

  • Im paying $280 a year which includes my footy clubs membership, not bad for $23 a month with Kayo when I was paying $19 a month with the membership already (Richmond FC) but most clubs have this option

  • Too bad buying this would mean you have to use a kayo-quality level product

    • kayo-quality level product

      Yeah… Only 4K…

I don't get out of bed for less than 8K.

      • You get out of bed?

      • Streaming 4k and audio. Much different

      • Any NRL matches that are also available on 9 are only 1080p

        • 1080p is fine for NRL…

          • @jv:

            1. No, not when you are paying for a 4K option
            2. Not what I was responding to
        • I watched Warriors v Knights in 4K. Was it not available on 9 yesterday?

          • @Big Dog: It would surprise me if you did, maybe it's a quirk of the game being played in NZ.

Only one network actually films each game, and 9, who don't film in 4k because they don't offer 4k, give Fox/Kayo their 1080p feed.

Maybe the new rights deal changes this but I've certainly had a long argument with Kayo about this in the past when I wound up paying for a 4k service only to have my team perpetually in 1080p because they were a channel 9 produced match

  • I'm seasonal, don't need it during finals, only F1, which is on absurd hours anyways. Will ride my $1 for 1 month and I'm out 'til next season.

  • I usually cancel my subscription when the AFL and NRL season is finished.

    • I reckon this is something that happens often, because IIRC I see these kinds of deals pop up during the AFL/NRL off season.

  • Season is over, post back next March…

  • $10 or $15 a month for this late in the season for all sports/motorsports, cricket does start soon but dont think thats enough of a drawcard alone

  • Do I need to cancel and re-sign up to use this code?
I tried it in my account -> subscription -> redeem voucher code and it said: "You're not eligible for this code. This code cannot be applied to your account."

    • Same here. Anyone actually managed to use this successfully? Might have to report as targeted

      • It says right in the main post

This offer is available for new and returning customers

      • I thought I might get an offer if I tried to cancel my account, and sure enough I did. I got $20 off for 6 months. So the 4k deal is now $26 a month. A couple more than the deal, but good enough.

    • It says right in the main post

This offer is available for new and returning customers

    • How do you watch stremio on a 77" oled with 4K?

      • Via a fire stick like the comment suggests. On LG there's a native app.

      • Probably the same way you would on a 50" with 4K

        • 65" is a completely different story though..

    • Can Stremio stream live sport?

      • no

        • not excatly true, i use an addon for stremio for live sports.

          • @vinnie05: Which add-on (or add-onns) do you use for sports on Stremio?

            • @branners: I was using sportfire and then it died

Formulio is an excellent addon for F1

    • got a guide you could dm

      • Could you DM me please

    • Could you DM what app(s) you use for sporting with Stremio?

    • do you need a firestick if your tv can download the Stremio/Stremio Lite apps?

    • By the way, move to Nuvio - miles ahead of Stremio now.

    • Requires a dodgy IPTV subscription that will likely be 1080p max and drop out randomly because it’s oversold…

  • Do you add it in voucher codes? I get "You're not eligible for this code - This code cannot be applied to your account."

    • It worked for my existing account which had expired subscription. If it's working for some , then it may be targeted.

  • Less money to kayo the better

    • Why?

  • Get back to me when it's $23 for 6 months 😄

I'd rather sail the seven seas myself than give Леонид Валентинович Блаватник and the Murdochs another yacht

  • prob with iptv is it's so patchy and inevitably breaks at the worst times

i still cancelled my kayo anyway
