  • Heeeeeeeeres the real deal!

    • we knew it was coming it was just waiting :)

      • Absolutely :-)

Maybe edit OP - looks like $2000 off the xl, so $99 upfront.

    • Is this even any cheaper than the initial JB hifi deal? Seems much the same

  • Just ported out from the S26 Ultra deal…

    • Even though that's a better phone?

      • Because S26 Ultra was sold for $450 profit on FB marketplace.
Pixel 11 is next for another profit.

        • Based

        • "FB marketplace."

Didn't someone on ozbargain got mugged?

      • I swapped from an S26 ultra to a Pixel 11 pro xl, specs aren't everything. Much prefer the Pixel to the S26U

        • What's better

          • @alexxL: UI, Camera, Screen brightness (1000 nits brighter), call screen, rambler are the main ones for me

            • @JoeBogan: I have a pixel 7 pro and a s26u, Samsung UI is 1000 times better

              • @nikoris: Cool story but I'm talking about a Pixel 11 Pro Xl not a P7P

            • @JoeBogan: But having to weigh against its battery is the biggest reason i moved off the pixel this cycle.

When everyone else is so far ahead of you, something is wrong with the tensor chip.

              • @wackedupwacko: The Pixel battery is actually much better than the S26U battery in my usage, even though Google reduced its capacity this year. Not sure what wizardry they used but I'm getting 6-7 hours of SOT and I'm a heavy used with the highest resolution. There's plenty of reviewers that have mentioned the same

          • @alexxL: Voice typing is amazing on pixel!!

  • Can anybody help me to figure out how much it costs when I use the ozbargain way?

    • As stated, $69 X 24 = $1656

      • Usually with these deals there's some trick with cancelling.

        • Rightttttt. Lol.

        • Not anymore, they amended the terms because they kept getting ozbargained.

It's almost as if people were leaning into it because they wanted both Optus and HN to take a loss. I can't imagine why… /sarcasm

      • That’s not the OzBargain way

        This is…

        $99 + $690 + ($69 x 4) = $1065

        • i dont think there is a first 99, isn't it?

          • @StarGrapper: In deal t&c on Harveys page it's $2000 off the pro xl which would leave $99 upfront to pay for 256gb model.

        • Where are you getting $99 from though?

        • Where does the $690 come from?

So, I can cancel after 4 months @$69/month without paying a cancellation fee, is that correct?

        • Thanks, bro.

  • can someone please explain to me the ozbargain final numbers?

    i think it is 69x4 + 690 = 966$. correct?

    • $99 upfront as well. But basically yea.

      • clear, thanks

      • so is it 966+99?

        • $966 for Pro and $966+99 for XL

    • How do you get that?

I was thinking pixel 10 pro in black friday but if the 11 is cheap I could be swayed

      • Sign up as normal in store.

You need to remain connected for 4 months or you have to repay a higher fee.

After 4 months you can cancel for 50% of remaining plan fees.

        So..
        $99 upfront
        $69x4 for the 4 months
$34.50x20 for the cancelled 20 months
        =$1065

To cancel afaik you can just port out to whatever Sim you normally use and Optus bill you whatever the outstanding amount is.

Tbh though at $34.50/month for a 5G 100Gb plan it's pretty competitive to just stay on the HN deal plan anyway. Given that you can still change/port out later if there's a real need.

        • if after 4 months you can cancel, then you are already in 5th month, so basically paying for 5 months, isn't ???? or you can cancel in 4th month ??

        • But if you stay it's $69 per month not $34.50 per month

          • @crackman: Sunk cost problem. Think of it as a $34.50 payment for the phone and $34.50 for the phone plan.

If you stay it's $69 per month and you get the value of the plan and phone but if you cancel you pay the $34.50 for 20 months to get out the contract (sunk minimum price of the phone) and then you don't get the value of the plan so have to go somewhere else for a phone plan.
If you can find a 5G 100G plan for under $34.50 then you are better off cancelling and taking the cheaper plan, otherwise you are better off staying on the Optus plan.

  • No GrapheneOS no thanks

    • Gave you an upvote, this is seriously the only reason I would buy this phone.

      • name doesn't check out

    • I'd probably word it a bit differently but it's a fair point if you're security conscious. I guess, have a up-vote.

  • Im with a current 69/m plan back with pixel 9 pro, was wondering if i could move over to this one?

    • You need to not be on Optus currently. So just port out to a $2 Sim and then go in and sign up fresh.

    • That was my problem with the Pixel 7-> pixel 9 pro. I asked around online and no-one ever reported success for moving their plan.

I simply purchased an ALDI sim, activated it at 9am, then went in-store and signed up to the plan the same day. No problems that way.
That's my plan this time around too - phones die and the plan price hasn't changed, no brainer!

  • The pixel 11 pro 256gb is $1849 outright but you get a $350 gift card buying outright.

I think it is $69X4 =$276.00 plus 69X20X0.5=690 so total is $966. Of course that’s assuming you get to cancel right on the day for the end of the 4 month. If you cancel during month 5 it’s an extra $34.50 so total $1000.50.

Is the pixel 11 pro that much different to the pixel 9 pro?

    • So they have stopped people from signing up then immediately canceling and make you stay for 4 months at least:
"Customers who cancel this plan within 120 days of activation will need to pay back the base value of the Harvey Norman gift card or the value of the device discount they received. Plus, if you cancel your plan, you’ll also have to pay any remaining payments for your device in full if you have chosen a repayment option, plus all charges incurred up until the date of cancellation."

I'd just keep using the P9P if you've got it but if you don't mind upgrading 2 generations for $1000 go for it.

      • What about P8P to P11P ?

        • Go for it with 3 generation jumps ;)

        • I would say from pixel 8 series, there is 7 years of software updates and no need to upgrade unless if you just want to and can't resist the deal.

      • Yes my calculations include staying for 4 months at $69 a month.

    • Where are the terms that say 50% off when cancelling after 120 days? HN's terms link just goes to the giftcard offer.

  • it actually blows my mind how phones just don't change anymore..

You could hand over a 9 pro XL and an 11 Pro XL and 99.9% could not tell unless you told them.

Wish google had put a lighter but larger 8,000mah battery or bigger!

    • They do change but ozbargain thinks foldables are unnecessary (i've been using one for 5 years). Apple just announced their foldable like a week ago

      • Do they add something for the average person that makes them worth an upgrade from a standard phone?

        • twice the screen size….? I have the oppo find n5 and I love it. leave it folded and use the outside screen as a 'normal' phone for in a dock in a car, or taking a call, or texting, or putting in my pocket. but if i am spending some quality 'screen time', I open it and browse the web, ssh into a server and muck about with something that broke, check my todo kanban (lol I don't do this as i am slack, but it's there if I need to). it's not a whole different experience, it's having a bigger screen without having to carry another device, like a tablet or laptop, around. if that isn't something you need or want, it's not something you need or want.

        • Theres no compromise compared to a normal phone (other than higher price). I have an oppo find n6. its the same thickness and weight as an iphone. same cover display, bigger battery. however i can always just open it up.

The only downsides are slightly worse camera (although hard to tell) and no satellite communicator (for emergencies, it has GPS).

    • I said something similar in the last pixel deal and gpr downvoted into oblivion

      • Haha, if it is that one linked by ihfree, that isn't a similar statement at all.

        • Haha, it's the only comment I could see that was "downvoted into oblivion"

    • tbh i only got the deal. because i've been using a Pixel 7 Pro and then that had 79% battery health and that would not last me the day old ahh tensor aswell and Pixel 6 Pro that my friend gave me has better battery health 93% but still first gen tensor is rough. probably also with battery it would be good but they probably dont want to make it too heavy also would make it so you would have to charge it less so you would do less cycles so it would last way longer so its probably to get people to upgrade more

  • Currently there is also a $350 gift card. Would you get that?

    • Looking at the S26 Ultra deals, it depends on the sales person you dealing with. Some got lucky with gift card.

    • No you don't, unless someone really stuffs up

    • nope

    • Last year there when there was a similar deal, I was told no, but then ended up getting one after the someone in corporate management sent an email saying it should apply. I went back to the store later and got it. I'll wait a bit here to see if anyone has any success.

  • Was excited but doesn't seem to apply for 512G devices?

    • My understanding is that it does and you pay the difference

    • $200 extra upfront for 512GB

  • This is tempting, but I don't want to give up my grandfathered $20 per month Amaysim plan,

Am holding for a killer deal on an outright Motorola Signature:)

    • Did you miss out on the previous Telstra's Signature deal or was it not killer enough? I got the signature for around $450.

      • Saw that, but too much stuffing around for me. Happy wait for the right deal. If not, will keep my current phone..

      • Missed that. Seems like a better phone than the recent Pixel 9 Pro deal at similar price point? But yea much more hoops to jump around.

        • I bought the signature for my dad. I am using P8P. Very tempted to move to P11P with this deal but my P8P is holding up ok.

          • @Bargainer4Life: How do you find the signature? Better than P8P? Seems like P9P just marginal better than P8P and P11P is only a bit better than the P9P. I suppose the 11 won't worth twice the price as the recent P9P deal?

            • @StephenCurry: P8P has 7 years software upgrades and already has a very good camera and you won't see great difference in raw performance of a phone from P8P to pixel 11 series, assuming you are not into heavy gaming in which case Samsung or Apple phone.

Should definitely stick to P8P unless Google would have gone for like a 2 nano faster chip to match something closer to Snapdragon chip or even a good Exynos. I have P9P XL and pretty happy with it.

              • @BinnyC: I don't think google will move away from tensor.

              • @BinnyC: Yea just daily social media usage plus some photographing when doing trips. But does want the phone to last somewhat longer for like 5-7 yrs, as I'm getting older and not inclined to get new phones that frequently :)

Used to be an iPhone guy and not really familiar with Pixels. They've been calling out Apple for upgrading too little each renew. But seems to me that if compared to Pixel's upgrade they are doing fine..

Nowadays just don't think iPhone is worth that much money so kinda exploring the Android side. Tried moto g54 as a backup phone (but really kinda using it as the main now and just saving the iPhone for photos so it could last another 3-5 yrs..), it is laggy and somewhat annoying when it just stuck from time to time. But I mean for $200 like a fraction of iPhone it is blowing my mind for how usable it is.. (I was expecting it to be somewhat a brick compared to iPhone but for 10% of the price we kinda get 30% of the phone at least :)

    • You can still do the cancel after 4 months thing it you want to pay sort of outright.

Just sign up for a new number and don't touch the amaysim deal at all.

    • Sign up for this with a new number?

    • Just buy a $2 sim and activate it?

      • Agree, but it's just not worth the hassle. Perhaps I should hand in my OzB badge:)

Anyway, I would prefer a Moto Signature.

      • Can you just ask for a new number or do you have to port?

  • On the Pixel 8 Pro deal with the $828 cancellation fee, I called Optus to cancel and they offered me a 50% discount on the $69 plan for 12 months instead. After those 12 months ended, I cancelled and only had to stump up $414 in one hit rather than the full amount.

    • so u paid 69*12 as well lol

      • Not sure what you mean sorry.
Instead of cancelling on day 1 and paying 828 ETF, I got a 50% discount off the $69 plan for the first year ie $34.50*12, then when the discount ended I cancelled and paid the remaining $414 ETF.
A nice bonus was I still got full use of the Optus SIM in my Tablet for the 12mths effectively for free.

  • How does this differ from this deal?
