  • Keen to know if it’s max 5 per day? Thanks.

    • Yes per flybuys account for the points

    • Should be per account.

    • ITS 5 PER WEEK

  • My question is, is there a points cap for this deal? Usually it's around 15,000?

    • The bonus points you can earn through this deal is capped at 10,000, because:

      • The deal terms and conditions says you can only earn bonus points on a maximum of five gift cards per Flybuys account, and

      • You will earn 2,000 bonus points on the purchase of each eligible gift card.

      • So that's not per flybuy account per day like normal gift card policy?

        • Approximately half the gift card deals at Coles involving Flybuys are for a set number of bonus points (e.g. 1000 bonus points, 2000 bonus points). Those deals are limited to five gift cards per account throughout the promotional period. Here is a recent example of these such deals.

The remaining gift card deals at Coles involving Flybuys are for earning a set number points per dollar (e.g. 10x points, 20x points). For those deals, they have a points limit associated with it and a sub-limit of 5 gift cards per day. Here is a recent example of these such deals.

Additionally, the everyday gift card limit is 5 gift cards per customer, and you will usually see signs for this at the top of the gift card shelf (e.g. like this). These signs do not specifically mention a per-day limit, but a staff member will likely interpret this sign to mean per-day…

          • @WookieMonster: Does flybuys dollar count as TRS? if used as split payment at OW

            • @kbd67: I doubt it.

I have never redeemed Flybuys Dollars at Officeworks, so I do not have personal experience of this, but:

              • Dot point 4 of the Officeworks Flybuys policy says the redemption of Flybuys Dollars is considered to be a discount, which implies you do not pay GST on the portion paid for with Flybuys Dollars.

              • If you make a purchase at Coles and use Flybuys Dollars as a payment method, the receipt is not considered a tax invoice, as Coles does not charge you GST for the portion paid for with Flybuys Dollars (assuming you have purchased anything that attracts GST). The Coles website actually has a GST calculator to calculate the correct amount of GST in this scenario.

              • @WookieMonster: amazing thank you!! I guess it is still ok to use flybuys even though the "discounted" amount won't count towards GST refund

    • No. Gift cards are excluded from that offer

  • 5 gift cards per flybuys account. So at $50 a card that is $250 worth per account. Still equivalent to $50 worth of points so 20 per cent off. I will have to set my alarm.

  • Does it have an activation fee?

  • any risk of tampering?

    • Yes. The question is how high the risk is and how much effort it would take to get it sorted.

Maybe I need to hand back my ozBargain membership, but I took a 7% discount on eGift cards over the 10% for physical cards at Coles. Also convenient that I got $500 cards, didn't have to deal with 40 cards for a TV purchase, only 4…

      But 20% gets me thinking…

      • Thanks, I'll have to look out for any tampering

      • Team Teri, Where did you get a 7% discount? I am about to purchase a macbook pro and so would rather use 10x$500 cards which i purchased with a 7% discount rather than look dodgy using a plethora of smaller denomination TCN cards purchased from Coles and Woolworths from Wednesday onwards.

        • HCF Thank-You App for members. Ultimate Home cards 7% until Sep 30.

  • 5 per acct per day or for the entire promotion period?

    • It is five per account for the entire promotional period, because the terms and conditions very clearly says:

Limit 5 Gift Cards per Flybuys account.

      … and …

BONUS POINTS can be awarded more than once for each Gift Card type including different denominations of the same Gift Card but can only be collected up to 5 times per Flybuys account.

If you think about it, the word "day" is not mentioned anywhere in the deal terms and conditions.

On the other hand, with the recent 20x points promotion on selected Ultimate gift cards at Coles, the clause in the terms and conditions referencing the purchase limit said something different:

BONUS POINTS can be awarded more than once for each Gift Card type including different denominations of the same Gift Card up to a maximum of 50,000 points per Flybuys account for the promotional period. NOTE: a purchase limit of 5 cards per customer per day applies.

      • so is it possible to buy $50 x5 ultimate home + $50 x5 ultimate student for OW on different day in a same account?

  • ok so you the maximum number of points you can get for this deal is 10000 which is $50 back in Coles credit is that right, you cant just come the next year day and score another 10000 points. this might be worthwhile to get GTA VI on a discount

  • Is it a better deal to get the $50 card?

  • Can we have two flybuy accounts?

    • of course. one for every family member works well for us.

      • I’m not an expert with Flybuys. But generally in order to create a Flybuys account we only need to put phone number and email address right?

        • Yes to phone number and email address. A phone number can be connected to multiple Flybuys accounts — an email address cannot.

          • @Gmaster: Do you know the maximum Flybuys accounts can be connected to the same phone number?

            • @SuHao: I currently have four connected to the one phone number.

            • @SuHao: I have 7 accounts with no issues. All Flybuys cards added to Apple Wallet for easy scanning at Coles. The only thing that bugs me - having to logout and login all the time in the Flybuys app to activate promotions. Wish it was possible to have 7 Flybuys apps on iOS all logged into different accounts.

              • @Gmaster: Pretty easy with app cloner on Android but yeah it’s nearly impossible to have multiple same app on iOS

                • @SuHao: What about other details, name, address, dob

                • @SuHao: Which app cloner app are you using?

              • @Gmaster: I do it through email offers and only rarely actually log into the accounts.

              • @Gmaster: Do you need 7 mobile numbers for these 7 Flybuy accounts, or are they all linked to one mobile number?

        • Can all the accounts be linked to one velocity membership?

          • @BrownTan: I have the same question

          • @BrownTan: Only one link at a time between a Flybuys account and Velocity account. I recently did this for the 15% transfer bonus.

Unlinked my Velocity from my Flybuys account, then linked my Velocity to the wife's Flybuys account and auto transferred 500k Flybuys points.

One tip — the optimum number of Flybuys before the FIRST auto transfer to Velocity is 400,000. This gets you the maximum 15% bonus when they run those promos — approximately twice a year.

            • @Gmaster: Have you linked all 7 flybuys accounts to your single velocity account before? No issues doing so?

  • Can these be exchanged into JB hifi cards again? I remember buying close to 50 last year and could no longer exchange online, so I had to take them in store instead and swipe every card

    • At the moment, yes.

If you go to the Ultimate gift card website and choose the gift card you are interested in (e.g. Ultimate Him), you can see how each participating retailer accepts Ultimate gift cards. If you select the Exchange for eGift option, you can see that JB Hi-Fi is currently listed there.

Keep in mind that the redemption options can change at any time without prior notice. For example:

      • The Exchange for eGift option for JB Hi-Fi (and The Good Guys) was abruptly removed during this deal in late 2025 and did not come back until a number of weeks ago.

      • SHEIN was temporarily unavailable in September 2025, due to the exchange portal running out of SHEIN gift cards and Blackhawk Network not receiving a new supply of gift cards from the gift card supplier before stock ran out. (I know about this, because an OzBargainer contacted me about this for assistance.)

      • The Exchange for eGift option for Luxury Escapes was temporarily removed in August 2024, because some customers were experiencing technical issues trying to redeem Luxury Escapes gift cards on the Luxury Escapes website. During this period, Luxury Escapes only accepted Ultimate gift cards at one of their physical stores in Melbourne. (Yes, another OzBargainer contacted me about this for assistance.)

Additionally, Blackhawk Network is implementing limits on the number and/or dollar amount of Ultimate gift cards you can exchange in a 24 hour period. The Ultimate gift card terms and conditions refers to this limit in clause 4, plus you can find recent discussions on this topic here and here.

      • Very helpful, funnily enough that 2025 deal was the last one I participated in when the exchange option disappeared after I exchanged 22/44 already.
Was great fun using 22 JB gift cards and then swiping another 22 to buy my 17 Pro Max whilst the POS kept freezing on the poor employee

      • Has anyone recently tried using an Ultimate Gift Card to buy an Apple Gift Card at JB Hi-Fi?

I already have some Apple GCs and I’m just a bit short, so was hoping to use a discounted Ultimate GC to top up the rest. I know the Ultimate T&Cs technically don’t allow buying other gift cards, but does JB Hi-Fi’s POS actually block it now?

        • No It doesnt block it, it's up to the staff member to notice. I have even used the TCN Him cards to purchase which are particularly obvious as you have to swipe them as they are eftpos cards. At least with the Ultimate cards you can put them into ApplePay and tap them without drawing attention.

        • Oh and you can even use the Ultimate cards on the JB website to buy Apple gift cards. Just can only do three per email address per day before the fraud detection kicks and and cancels the order.

          • @rpb: Thanks! One more question. Can you use multiple Ultimate gift cards to pay for a single Apple gift card order on the JB website?

For example, could I use four $50 Ultimate gift cards to buy one $200 Apple gift card online?

            • @iamedgarlin: No. Because the card is a credit card you can not split payment. But just buy them one by one and use a second email address if you need more than three in a day.
I presume you’re going to load them into your Apple account anyways so it shouldn’t matter. If you want to use codes in store at Apple and want a big one so you dont hit the limit you could go instore to JB and ask for split payment but that may raise their suspicion. I did do a split payment for an Apple gift card a few years back when there was the bonus load but only once as I thought it too risky

          • @rpb: Thank you so much mate.

I just tried my Teens at JB and got my Apple gift card via a normal purchase!

            • @Freddies: No worries. I’ve been working through online with the 5 Kids I bought yesterday. At one Coles all the him and home were gone but the kids have JB and the shelf was still full so I was fine with them.

              • @rpb: Guess I will go the counter and ask for fresh cards to avoid tempered ones hehe

              • @rpb: also do you know how long does it take to grant these points?

I also have issues of checking balance online but I was able to use it in a retail store

                • @Freddies: I spend the full amount in one go so do t check the balance but I recall reading here somewhere there are two different sites you can do it and one is better than the other.
My point have shown up in my flybuys activity now

          • @rpb: It didn't work for me with a different email address on the same day and also didn't work the day after - orders get canceled. Could it be per 24 hours rather than a day?

            • @alexshel: Strange. I’ve been fine. Use two different browsers (used Firefox for my second email) and have been doing six per day. Actually did two more one day on a third on mobile through mobile data.

              • @rpb: Ended up going to the store. Physical cards didn't work, so used Apple Pay.

  • great

    • Read the post again.

  • I can’t see that the cards can be used at Coles or Woolies themselves, is that correct, or am I having a ‘boy’ look?

Thanks for all the detail chaps

    • That is correct.

Ultimate gift cards are restricted to the participating retailers listed on the Ultimate gift card website (and the table in the deal description.)

    • I think you can redeem the gift card for UberEats and then purchase Coles through it. However, you may need to be selective about the items on it to avoid overpriced items.

  • Do I have to put each card through a separate transaction or can I buy all 5 at once?

    • You can buy 5 at once

      • So just get 5 ultimate on one flybuys. Then get 5 ultimate on the next as a seperate transaction.

  • Is it possible to purchase Apple gift cards at Officeworks, either in-store or online, using these cards?

    • Nope, won’t work. Terminal will throw an error when you try to buy gift card with gift card.

  • Won’t work with me loading $100 onto the variable load one right?

    • Correct, because the deal terms and conditions says:

Excludes Variable Load Ultimate Her, Him, Home and Kids Gift Cards.

  • Anyone know if the Ultimate Him with Uber can be added simply via app or switched to uber gift card? Just trying to work out if it’s easy or complex to redeem.

    • If you have a look at the Ultimate Him gift card webpage (linked in the table within the deal description), it says the only redemption option for Uber is Exchange for eGift.

In other words, after you purchase the Ultimate Him gift card, you need to go to the Ultimate gift card exchange portal and request to exchange it for an Uber eGift card that is emailed to you. When I last did this, the Uber eGift Card was emailed to me within seconds of submitting the request.

  • Why's Bunnings no longer on there son?

  • Anyone know if gift card spend influences your rotating deals? (e.g. would putting $250 worth of these cards on a single flybuys account potentially lead to increases in targeted deals "spend x and get y bonus / 4 week challenge spend amounts"?

    • Yes that would definitely happen. Speaking from personal experience

      • Hasn't happened on my accounts. It seemed to change a while back and no longer makes a difference for gift card purchases at least (large spend amounts on groceries can still have an impact though). @Cannu

    • I bought $500 worth of cards before and it didn't affect my future deals.

  • Can you use flybuys dollars to make the transaction for the ultimate gift card/ will you then also get the points?

    • No.

If you attempt to use Flybuys Dollars as a payment method when purchasing a gift card at Coles, as soon as you swipe the Flybuys card on the EFTPOS terminal, you will get an Invalid Product Mix error.

  • Would be keen to know how it influences the spending deals in future

  • Is it possible to buy an iphone 18 pro max with split payment of gift cards+flybuys dollars at an officeworks?

    • Yep, but pick a quiet time to hop in since you gonna spend some time on swiping all the $50 cards.

  • Can I use coles gift card for transaction or it should be a card transaction?

  • does anyone know if kogan will accept more than 1 gift cards at checkout?

    • Assuming you are converting these to Kogan eGift cards, as per this FAQ, just add them to your account as "credit", and then you can redeem them all at checkout.

      • thanks! also note that ultimate's minimum kogan gift card conversion amount is $50.

  • i assumed you wouldn't need to check out 5 times, right? check out with 5 cards would give you 10k points?

    • No just check out once, and yes that's correct but points will take 1-2 days to land in your account I believe

  • How do I use this card at @TheGoodGuysAU ? Do I need to add it to my digital wallet, or can I just use the physical card?

    • either, if paying in store can just swipe the physical card at the terminal.

      • Thanks

  • Can we expect bonus points to show on POS screen at checkout, or on receipt? Or need to wait 24+ hours for points?
Nothing in the T&C stating they will be deposited within X timeframe

    • Last time I had to wait 24+ hours. Coles be like just trust me bro

      • Receipt shows 0 flybuys points earned, guess we just wait a couple of days.

Was able to exchange them into JB hifi egift, and of course now the item I intended to purchase has gone OOS at local store
