Referee & Referrer: $10 credit each after referee adds funds to their account.
Referee must NOT have the YouTrip app installed before clicking the referral link.
After clicking the link, referee must tap Confirm on the referral page. If skipped, the referral will not be recorded.
Just double checking the cashback is for all type of international transactions, not restricted to tap or swipe or whatever?
I’ve haven’t traveled with the card.
I’ve just been using it for purchases in non AUD currency.
do they require selfie or video verification? do they offer alternative non-biometric options?
Yes, they do require video verification when I tried to sign up. Not sure about alternative options if declined.
It does not matter where it is charged, as long as it is not in AUD. From https://www.you.co/au/blog/youtrip-welcome-bonus-cashback/
4.5 Eligible transactions include both in-store and online purchases charged in a foreign currency.
When travelling why we need this if we have Ing Macquarie debit card?
Does Macquarie give you 4 percent?
What’s considered as “International Purchases”?
in foreign currency
Ok thanks
Guys, you can get the $10 credit through referrals as well. Also the referral link is only valid for 30 days, so update your referrals. When you open the app, it should say someone referred you. For some reason, it showed me an error first but when I closed the error, it showed who referred me and after topping up $10 I got the $10 credit too.
previous ozb deals have said the referrals don't always work - I used the $10 signup coupon code instead as people were having much more success with that
Are they taking a margin on the exchange rates? Are their rates published anywhere?
Not what i asked.
According to their website they use MasterCard wholesale exchange rates with no markup. If you follow the links on their website about exchanging currency it is explained, and they have a link to the mastercard calculator.
does adding youtrip balance using credit card count as Cash Advance in my credit card?
My NAB card count as normal purchases
Anyone tried with CBA?
Is that right? So this is a method to withdraw funds without incurring a fee, since you might then be able to deposit money into Revolut or Wise and transfer it to your savings account.
maybe, but let's use it what it's designed for and so it's not patched in the future :)
How did you differentiate between standard purchase transactions and cash withdrawals? I assume you'll be able to tell once the statement is released.
usually once the purchase is completed one can tell if the transaction was treated as cash advance so good idea is to test-deposit like $5 and see what happens.
I've tried westpac and it's normal purchases
Do you get rewards points with westpac?
ANZ and Coles CC both normal purchase (not cash advance). Coles CC gave me fb points, ANZ gave no frequent flyer points
Can you maybe use zip then pay your zip balance with anz to get frequent flyer points?
I canceled my zip account so can't test, unfortunately
Travelling tomorrow morning, is the card available to add instantly on Apple pay?
Yes!
Yes, however note physical card needed for for ATM withdrawal.
(also used ANZ and Commbank ATMs to withdraw remainder out of my account after my travels, no fee for both for amount less than AUD400/mth)
YouTrip is great, found the exchange rates better than Wise and Revolut for Japan. Comes with a free physical card and also has a digital card, so easy to share with a partner. The cashback is a bonus, but don’t forget the cap!
another heads up, if you somehow forget to type in the promo code for the $10 credit, you're able to contact support after setting your account up and they add it manually
I signed up last week but only got 2% cashback. and the promo code for $10 credit didn't stick.
2% cashback but up to $40 per month as opposed to $25.
contact support directly with the promo code and ask them to apply the $10 credit, they did it for me
Have you seen all these one-star reviews on Google Play? It appears to be a very risky platform with no customer service.
Cashback hits your account around the mid-end of each months.
I signed up but treat with caution. This is a company charging no FX fees, no ATM withdrawal fees, no top up fee (even on Amex credit cards), offering sign up bonuses, offering cashback, and offering referrals. Yes this is probably VCs subsidising us all but these gravy trains also don't last forever.
The ozbargainer in me is loving it but I'm also not going to keep much in the balance
Also the Google Play reviews seem to mention it's a pain to withdraw money, the physical cards fail a lot and support is not great
Agree. 4% cashback capped at $25 translates to A$625 spending per month. I'd just put around that amout into it.
what about paying klook/booking.com/agoda?
Used these guys a fair bit.
The 4% works on any international purchase.
Nice to get an extra 4% off on all those AliExpress purchases :)
