300

Update: We had a small restock of these just now but the new batch do not come with card codes you will instead get extra of the other normal cards.
This applies to any of this item purchased from now on. It is a little more value for you.

Finally! After running dry the last couple of weeks we finally have a bit of a Pokémon bulk restock!

This bundle has cards from the Ascended Hero's set ONLY. We have also restocked our regular bulk bundles from random sets if you are after those.

In my opinion this, and the mixed set bundle here is the best value for you with the most fun, but we also have the 1k c/uc only bundle, and the 1k holo only bundle, as well as a few others like Ascended Hero's Holo only and a few Yellow border only boxes.

This is 1000 English Pokémon Cards, directly from booster packs without much sorting, so you get a lot of great mid-range holos and commons in the lot.
Each box with come with about:
200 Holos
600 Commons/uncommons
100 energies
100 card codes
This is the standard booster pack distribution.

We still have the previous deal of 10x free EX with any purchase over $100, so get that as well! (Code EX10FREE - You need to add the free pack to cart before it counts it).

As well as our Free shipping with any of our boardgames deal as well. So add one of those for free shipping too.

These are real cards, we don't sell fakes. Pickup also available in Pyrmont. Feel free to ask any questions! I may be busy this morning but will get to them after mid day.

  • Genuine question. Is your business model scalping Pokémon cards and then selling off the rejects in bulk whilst presumably reselling the high value ones individually.

    • What else?

    • Not exactly: we don't crack the packs, we mostly buy "the rejects" from scalpers for two pennies on the $, sort them and make them into various bulk packs and sell to you guys for three pennies on the $.

But the best thing about these is that they are only "the rejects" to the scalpers! Not to the genuine players and collectors (especially collectors who collect what they like, not just what gets scalped).

Thanks to them artificially inflating the price of a few cards (that you dont even need to play the game) the rest of us can enjoy the rest of the cards for 1/10th the price if you were to buy the same amount in packs!

Its the perfect way to take advantage of the craze atm, and props to the pokemon company for setting it up so none of the expensive cards are actually required to play the game.

      • Except scalpers aren't ripping packs, they're hoarding sealed product.

I'm assuming you're actually buying off whatnot streamers who are ripping constantly and wanting to top up their income?

Either way it's not the worst thing, but it's shit that kids (and the genuine players and collectors you reference) can barely get product these days.

        • Well depends on the scalper. We of course must buy from streamers, stores, people and players who open packs, so we don't directly help any that horde unopened packs.

But again, its a great thing when scalpers can subsidise your hobby for you as long as you dont care about a couple of fancy cards you dont even need to play! Bulk packs are great for kids and even better for actual players :D

    • Been watching some videos on people starting a bulk card business (just interesting to me to learn about business) and it works like this (at least the smart ones, which I think OP is one of the smart ones).
      * 1. Buy bulk cards from the general public for a few cents i.e. $0.01-$0.02 per card. Using methods like Facebook marketplace posts, posts into Facebook pokemon groups and pokemon discord servers. The smart bulk sellers always buy from rippers, not other bulk sellers. Obtaining a card can sometimes be annoying because its like meeting up with people over and over again. Some are really good and have partnerships with whatnot or ebay live sellers which do "rip and ship". Some of these livestreamers tell you upfront they keep bulk and only send hits. They keep bulk to sell it to the bulk buyers. So its a win for the waternot/ebay live seller by getting a few extra dollars and having to pay less in shipping.
      * 2. Use a machine to sort through the cards (yes the exist) into a few piles like cards worth more than $1, $2, $3 etc. Sell cards worth more than $1 (or whatever amount) on eBay for a massive profit (profit relative to price you bought the card for).
      * 3. Sell off the really shitty bulk to someone else. Some bulk sellers are bothered to sell to the public (like OP for a massive mark up) and some sellers aren't bothered and have a buyer who always buys bulk. This buyer usually pays more or equal to the $0.01-$0.02 per card so no matter what, the original business is in profit or never makes a loss.

And eventually the bulk gets really bad where its really crappy cards.

      • Basically, but we skip step 2 (and 3 is just everything). We don't sell singles and we don't sort the cards (other than into sets as advertised). Its just not worth it for us (the time to sort, list, pack and send a $1 costs much more than the $1 you could sell it for). We just buy and sell bulk, our rates or on our website :)

        • $1 was just an example. You could set your threshold to whatever you want. You seem big enough for your threshold to be much higher. I know the bottleneck for bulk businesses is their machine because it can only sort x cards per hour and they usually get more cards than the machine can sort through. I am a little sus that you don't have a pile in your machine for your high value cards. Even if you have a smaller machine, you would have 3 piles, and 1 pile could be your high value cards where you set your settings to a dollar amount, ex and promos. And even if you don't list singles, you still sell promo cards and ex's on your website which tells me you do sort out into high value cards.

          • @xNik: They pay a "premium" for those cards (ex's and promos).
They're not buying and sorting bulk lots for those.

            https://bulkcards.com.au/pages/sell-to-us

And don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of bulk sellers.

            • @JustWantToSave: You'll be surprised at how many people who want to get rid of their bulk don't bother checking for those "premium" cards.

              • @xNik: Sure. But that's on the seller.
My point is more-so that those being on their site doesn't necessarily mean they're sorted cards.
Idk about these guys, but usually if the bulk is unsorted, the stores pay way less than their normal rates.

                • @JustWantToSave: Ah I get your point but for this shop who posts on ozbargain which usually sells out within a few hours and has a store front in the city no less. I very much doubt these are unsorted. Its basically impossible for them to sort out into sets like Ascended heroes without a sorting machine.

                  • @xNik: It isn't if we get them from people sorted.

You might notice we only have 1 set-specific bundle, this is because this set people often give us not mixed with other sets, enough so we can do a bundle for it specifically. Likely when they crack, all Ascended hero's they put in one spot.

Its 100% correct its not worth sorting into sets without a machine, and its also not worth pulling out singles to sell without a machine. That's why what we have listed is so random, its mostly just the sets/distributions we get as-is, and also why you will find some Ascended Hero's in the normal bulk packs, from people who haven't sorted it out already.

                  • @xNik: I've bought quite a lot of bulk from them and I can guarantee they're not sorted beyond whatever the streamers have picked out. Cards come in pack order w/ energies & code cards. Last time I got bulk ASC it had dozens of Pikachu & Mimikyu holos that are each around $1-$2. It's just not worth picking out cards.

      • Their prices are on their site.
They pay a bit better than some places, at 3c per card for bulk common/uncommon.

I did the quick maths for what they'd be paying for these bundles they are listing here at $119.
And it appears the 800 bulk common and uncommon, as well as the 200 bulk rares, costs them $36 ($24 and $12 respectively)

        • Pretty much that's the case for the $89 box and we pay for postage as well. Better sets we often pay more for and have to sell for a bit more.

        • I get their mark up is massive. The point of my post was, don't bother buying bulk from bulk sellers because they take out all the really good stuff using their sorting machines. You are better off buying the singles or trying to buy bulk off another pokemon collector

          • @xNik: Ah well this point is 100% incorrect.

This would be correct if you are buying expensive singles, but we don't sell those, we sell the bulk itself. You are buying a box like this for $0.10 a card, while if you bought any card individually from this box they would be a minimum of $1, up to $3 or so. So getting a bulk bundle like this is infinitely better value if you are after a lot of singles to play or for collecting.

A deck when bought individually will cost you ~$50-100 after shipping etc, while a box like this can let you make 10+ decks, or 5+ competitive ones with a little extra spent on cards you need for them.

A bundle like this is not worth it if you are specifically after a few single cards, or after the expensive ones, but anything else and its precisely much better value to get bulk.

            • @BulkCards: If you're building a deck, you are obviously looking for specific cards?? There are many TCG store that allow you to go through their bulk and cherry pick cards for $0.10-$0.50 each. If you don't want to go in person, then yea, maybe trying your luck with buying bulk cards in bulk may be your best bet.

              • @xNik: Yup, we do the same in our store and of course you can do that! But also yes not everyone can do that and its still cheaper over all to get a bundle if you want a pool of core cards to work with (or get your trainer specific bundle on our website for just this haha).

And sort off, in pokemon, about 75% of your deck (including the energies here) are quite generic that most decks use similar or the same cards. These are quite common and most will be found in packs like this.

If you are making one very specific deck, you likely will find 40% of it in a pack like this, so not worth it if you are building one specific one only, but most players make multiple decks, and love to mess around with them, so getting a pack like this, seeing what you get and then filling out your missing cards by buying them individually is much better value.

        • 800 bulk common and uncommon, as well as the 200 bulk rares, costs them $36 ($24 and $12 respectively)

"800 bulk common and uncommon" is actually 600 Commons, 100 Energies & 100 Card Codes; so realistically only 600 bulk common/uncommon as energy and code card has no value.

  • People always complain about scalpers in hobbies but then purchase from them anyway.

    • I know right?

If you just ignore the couple rare cards that you dont even need to play the game, you can get bulk packs like this for litterraly 1/10th of the RRP price of what you'd pay for if you were to get the same in packs, minus like 5 cards you dont even need.

Its a great way to exploit the scalpers and let them subsidise your hobby! 😀

      • "we mostly buy "the rejects" from scalpers for two pennies on the $" you don't exploit scalpers by putting money back in their pockets.

        • I mean, they aren't going to give it away for free…?

They buy a box for $500, keep/sell 5 cards they think are worth $500 and sell to us the rest, which we sell to you for $30.

You can literally only buy it at $30 because they think 5 cards are worth $500. So they paid $500 for something you got for $30 minus like 5 cards.

Isn't that like literally the definition of exploiting them for super cheep cards? I'm not sure what your issue is here…

Remember, its the scaplers who care about the value of the cards, we only care about how many cards we can get that are actually useful for as low a price we can get. If not for the scalper I'd have to pay $500 for the same cards -5.

          • @BulkCards: Yeah but they use any funds from the less desirable cards they sell to you to purchase more packs?

            • @Pluto88: Sure, 1/10th of a new box… So? Any other way you get them will also be indirectly funding more packs being bought. And why would we specifically not buy cards from those we deem as "scalpers" when doing so allows us to sell to you at a lower price?

Again, they only get that 1/10th if they crack what they bought anyway, which is just beneficial for all of us as well.

    • Have never purchased anything from a scalper. Only an idiot would.

  • They were only $49 back in April when I picked mine up.

    • Unfortunately prices do increase over time, but actually for a bit of insider information: The reason is actually EB games.

They have recently started buying bulk (I assume to sort and sell singles) so to get any ourselves we need to beat their bulk buying price (no shade and nothing wrong with that, just the reality of it). Because EB games is so big this has raised all our costs, which raises everyone's bulk selling price as well.

That, and just general inflation, more people getting into the hobby, and more people realizing you can just buy bulk packs to get everything you need to play is making bulk prices steadily increase over time.

They won't be this price for very long either, and we will likely post another deal a few months in the future that is still a steal but much higher than this one.

      • I understand prices goes up and inflation, but ~140% increase in 5 months…

EB Games purchase bulk cards at $0.03 for commons and $0.04 for holos. Doing some quick maths:

        • 200 Holos x $0.04 = $8
        • 600 Commons $0.03 = $18
        • 100 energies = $0
        • 100 card codes = $0

        Total = $26

At your purchasing prices - $0.03 for commons and $0.06 for holos:

        • 200 Holos x $0.06 = $12
        • 600 Commons x $0.03 = $18
        • 100 energies = $0
        • 100 card codes = $0

        Total = $30

Regardless, $119 is far too expensive.

        • I think your second calculations are wrong, but regardless;

Well again the actual comparison here is $89. 119 is specifically for this set that's more in demand.

And yes, so like any business our service is sourcing, sorting (removing fakes, damaged cards etc) dealing with scams, paying for postage, packaging and listing what we have so that anyone who'd like a bulk pack can get one with a click of a button without having to go through that hassle themselves.

I think we do a great deal with all that taken into account :)

      • I'll give you $60

  • Good thing these are the English cards and not the Scottish or Irish ones.

    • Don't forget the Enrgish ones too, those are always a blast!

    • Chinese and Japanese cards are quite commonly traded here as well, so it's worth the OP having clarified this.

  • I'm old as and know absolutely nothing about any of this, but the way OP is answering questions head on is impressive - I wish you all the very best in your endeavour.

    • Appreciate it Seamonkey! It makes it much easier when you actually got a good product ;D

I've been using Ozbargain for a while and people here know their stuff, but Pokémon has boomed in popularity and is a charged subject atm, and a lot of people know just the surface level, not the details like people who actually play the game. Its fun to jump on the hate band wagon with everyone else, and it helps we are actually exploiting the hated group even though not looking like it from a surface examination.

It makes for a great sodium chloride moment haha.

  • great deal OP and the kids will love it. its good fun for them to appreciate the art and have them play amongst themselves.

    • Appreciate it Cereal! Question: How does one smoke Cereal?

      • Hello what does 100 card code means? Are they playable cards? Sorry I am curious about this and want to see I can get involved and explore this.

        • The card codes are the cards you get in the booster packs that you can use to get a digital booster pack on Pokemon TCG online. They're not actual cards and are included here because they come in the booster packs and we don't sort this bundle so they would be in the bundle as well.

  • 1000 mixed set was $85 a few days ago, now $89, would be great if you could do a deal on that one :)

    • Unfortunately all bulk has been going up in price a lot, and the booster pack distributions is still low relative to the base bulk price, so this won't be likely to stay that price for long. XD

Unless we get massive Pokémon crash I don't see it going down, and even then.. (Also, I think just ALL prices are going up, all our suppliers for every business is increasing prices significantly.)

  • it's funny to me that every time these guys post, people here are surprised that the seller is trying to make money

    • I know haha XD - But I think its an Ozbargain thing. Bargains are either unique, or not profitable, and make most money when they appear to not be profitable but are so everyone advertises all bargains here as such making it seem normal.

  • How is this a bargain? lol

  • @BulkCards Which packs are best for in rotation pokemon cards. Got lots of energies already

    • I would probably just recommend the 1000 random booster pack distributions most of them should be in rotation you can leave the note and I can try my best to pick one with more modern sets but it's not guaranteed

  • This website breeds a lot scalpers, worse are the ones that quietly lurk here and broden all the good stuff for themselves

You start notice the same groups creeping around Pokemon shops

    • Sorry a bit confused, what do they broden?

  • Been a long time since been into buying trading cards (since my own childhood). If I want to start building some decks and playing the game with my kids, is there any reason to buy this over the mixed set bundle?

    • For just building decks the mixed set bundle is better

      • Cheers. Been eyeing it off for a while and should have just pulled the trigger before inflation and competition took hold.

        • I hear this everyday about how someone missed out on a thousand dollar box because they didn't want to pay an extra $10 back in the day for it at the time haha XD

  • For just building decks the mixed set bundle is better

  • I'd be keen on a 30th bundle, i want to get the as much of the set for my kid as possible.

    • We have some in store, we don't list them on line at the moment.
