  • Dn, more ingredients than in an average house

    • I prefer them to list the sub-1% ingredients. That is where a lot of nastier additives live and escape disclosure.

      • Unfortunately, they are listed and present. hard to escape any food sold in packets without those these days.

        • Care to list exactly what is bad and link some proof of it being harmful for humans? By proof I mean a paper, not some tiktok clown that thinks chemical = bad with no evidence who happens to be selling one magic supplement that will fix your health.

    • Caring about ingredients on $1 pizzas in this economy? Quite a flex.

  • Woooo!! Nice!!

  • Is it natural pepperoni spice?

  • tribe of judah in qld sometimes has these for $1 too

    • they did yesterday with the weird yellow pickle

    • And sometimes Spudshed in WA

Makes you think how many of these they actually import

    • What in the name of the twelve apostles is that name?

      • founder is probably christian. they're doing the lord's work

        • Pre-Christian more likely…

    • This place is great I like it

  • I quite like this flavour.

  • I tried these on clearance from my local IGA. Quite nice flavour. Not too spicy.

    • Thank you for your feedback.

  • I bought these on special from Woolworths a few months back and they are definitely of the cardboard base style, not enjoyable. For $1 though maybe thats not an issue for you.

  • Is that guy an actual doctor?

    • Another graduate of Hollywood Upstairs Medical College

    • The company was founded by August Oetker in 1891.
He completed a doctoral thesis on the shape of pollen grains in 1888.

In 1891, he bought the Aschoffsche pharmacy in Bielefeld and developed a baking agent, which was designed to ensure the success of the baking process. Prior to Oetker, a British chemist, Alfred Bird, had already invented baking powder, and American scientist Eben Norton Horsford had developed a ready-made 'double-acting' baking powder.

From 1890, he distributed his invention under the brand name Backin, thus laying the basis for the family-owned company, called Oetker-Gruppe. The company still uses the very same recipe to produce baking powder.

      • His grandson who inherited the company in 1918 was also a card carrying Nazi and a member of the Waffen-SS. Unfortunately taints their products a bit for me, but they do make great pizza though.

        • Clearly the guy knew how to operate an oven.

        • According to that article he died in 2007 so I doubt he has much involvement with the business almost 20yrs onwards. They did pull out of the Russian market when the war with Ukraine began.

    • he didn't go to medical school for you to call him Mr Oetker

  • Love some Crazy Joe Davola pizzas.

  • everytime without fail these send me straight to the porcelain throne

    • Tell me, which pizza doesn't? Mr slippery guts!

      • Haha, most pizzas are fine with me. idk why this one specifically torments me

  • Όπα!

  • NQR has been trying to sell Diavola pizzas for $2.50 for several months. They're not bad in flavour, and an absolute bargain if you want a cheap feed, but even at that price they aren't flying off the shelves.

I guess the pizzas are now so far beyond the best before date that NQR is forced to flog them off for a dollar.

Also of note is NQR is selling Dr Oetker gluten free pizzas for $2.50. Normally gluten free is treated as some sort of exotic gourmet with prices to match.

  • Diavola is pretty spicy, the spice hit the back of my throat and I nearly died.

  • What can go wrong?
they have the texture and flavour of damp cardboard.

    • i used to think so until i baked it on a pizza stone. Game changer!!

Interesting that the website shows these at $2.50/72% off RRP. But for the period of 16-24th Sept. Can't find current pricing on the website.

Does this mean their "specials" are like the dodgy colesworth specials that aren't really special?

    • Ah missed that they are different flavours. Not the same price/special across all flavours

  • The $1 colon cancer special, yummmm

  • OOS at Rosewater, SA store (on 04/10 anyway) but picked up a couple of the pesto and cherry tomato ones for $2.50 each and was pleasantly surprised how good it was
