  • I heard Xiamen Airlines is one of the better Chinese airlines

    • It was actually pretty good, food was decent. Although in-flight entertainment was mostly chinese and there wasn't much on there.

  • I'm interested in the "more interesting" option

    • That's interesting.

    • 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂💯💯💯💯💯💯💯✅✅✅✅😂😂😂😂

  • I've done these before and the transit "hotel" is usually more of a dorm accommodation type thing.

One of them we watched so many videos about it before we left and found the hotels in the videos and planned our evening around that area…and then instead it was these sorts of student accommodation on the airline's company compound thing. There was absolutely nothing around and we had to wait about two hours for them to process the check-in with all the people there.

We looked up prices in the tourist areas and for our experience, it would have been only about $50 for the night and would have had a proper layover and city experience. So, something for people to consider.

    • Thanks for sharing Op, you just saved me a regrettable experience.

    • just to be clear…was the accommodation from Xiamen Airlines desk(in Xiamen) or it's another city?

      • Yes this was Xiamen with Xiamen Airlines, although I went to Taiwan.

    • that sucks. the guangzhou one I have done 3 times and its fine. being closer to the airport is not an issue if you have a morning flight the next day

  • just FYi, the Japan leg on any Chinese Airline has a higher risk of cancellation, if and when the Chinese govt 'recommends' their citizen to avoid japan.

    • the current "boycott" is already under way so this shouldn't be much of a risk imo. mostly group tours that are instead going to south korea from what I understand

    • I initially thought that would be the case, but given they're still around, I would guess it's mainly to cater to overseas tourists and those remaining business passengers. And while many of the leisure routes might have already been cancelled, not the case with Tokyo.
