  • Getting into the Uber the following week, "Hey, that's a nice shirt, I used to have the same … wait a minute…"

    • Gig worker needs donated clothing? Yep that checks out

    • I certainly wouldn't put that past the same sort of people who steal my burgers and sit there eating them a block away..

      • How many times has that happened to you?

  • Free ride to red cross

    • under 20kg, small enough to fit comfortably in a midsize car boot

Not an average OzBargainer. Not by a long shot

  • Great promotion and a great cause. Red Cross is my op shop of choice, not many non-religious ones around.

    • Wouldn't it be better for the donation of clothes go directly to those in need or are there just too much supply that they get sold off and then perhaps some of the funds go back to the needy

      • It's much much easier to distribute money, and you get more effectiveness per dollar. At my local charity thrift shop there are also programs for those in need to get gift cards etc. to shop in store.

        • what kinda of gift cards?

          • @Poor Ass: Free gift cards to buy stuff in the store. Either small amounts via manager approval or larger via program.

Like someone comes in needing some clothes manager can give them a $20 gift card, or they can get approval for funding for e.g. a bed and mattress.

            • @OZKap: What store is this? Sounds good

              • @Poor Ass: Not the person you're replying to but Anglicare does do this sort of thing too

      • Yeah but thats not helping our economy

      • are there just too much supply

Have you seen the ungodly amount that gets exported to third world country for "recycling".

Clothing the poor isn't the issue anymore, cheap cloth are everywhere.

Feeding the poor is the issue now.

Good luck feeding people with your used jacket.

  • Why not just dump them in the charity bins?

    • Those get on sold and or dumped in third world countries and aren't really 'charities'

      • And this is different how? Same thing with an Uber collection no?

    • Why not just pick up the food from the restaurant? People use uber for convenience especially if it’s free

    • The free Uber pickup is much more convenient and also helps the driver get a bonus pay for each of these pick-ups.

  • It does not show up in the uber app for me - anyone experience the same?

    • Check the date?

    • Ditto

    • Deal is only available on "Saturday, 17 October between 10am and 4pm"
Already packed a few boxes ready for 17th.

  • Waiting to see the promo up

  • Available in eligible cities only – Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and Canberra.

Nobody thinks NT and TAS exist.

    • time to go full Karen on them

  • Yeah hard pass if I have to give my details to a useless data harvesting company.

  • I just had mine completed but now have to seek reimbursement because the driver took a toll way which I got charged for 🤔

  • Its coming up blank for me, anyone else?

  • Just a heads up for anyone doing the Red Cross donation promo. I had about 20kg of clothes specifically saved up for this. I activated the promo in the app and noticed no drop off location was preselected, so I just picked the closest one. The discount applied successfully and the driver picked up the bags and drove off.

Around 15 minutes later, I got a message from the driver saying she couldn't contact the location. The app gave me zero options to reply or contact her back. I ended up calling the donation spot directly and they told me absolutely no one had tried to deliver anything today. They also said the driver should have been automatically notified of the correct drop off points since there are only 6 in Melbourne.

I am not entirely sure if it is an app glitch or a driver issue but it was a massive fail. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if some of the jokes people made in this thread earlier about drivers keeping the clothes actually come true.

    • Yes, the driver also contacted me also at destination with who to hand over the items to. Looks like no communication had been provided to Uber / red Cross.

      • Mine did not contact me at all. The message that came through was not from her via the chat option, but it came as an Uber notification pop up that I wasn't able to respond to. Apparently the app should have auto populated a correct location, but mine did not. However, the discount was still applied. I contacted Uber, explained what happened. They will get me back to me in 6-12 hours…

  • Was easy for me. Arrived in ten minutes (ACT)

  • How to find the option in uber eats app? I don’t have uber app

    • Scroll to right at the top where it has rides, grocery, convenience and select courier
