40% off, down from $6.70 to $4.00.
Apparently free range chickens are currently being kept indoors to reduce the risk of bird flu, so not sure how long this deal will last.
Still plenty of stock at Bondi Junction NSW when I checked this morning.

I’m not sure if it’s standard across all but my Woolies has a big sign on the fridge doors advising of it.
Haven't seen that at mine, or online.
@tenpercent: It doesn’t show for me either on the link OP posted, presumably because it’s because it’s out of stock but I can see it on all other egg that are in stock as well as when I search for eggs
They have large signage all over the egg section. Why waste resources on more plastic stickers ?
Not at my local. And not online.

Online shoppers cannot see the signs in the shop.
"currently kept indoors due to quarantine arrangements"
Bird covid lockdown.
Guess they are from Victoria.
To reduce the risk of transmission, the birds are only being fed whilst perched, not while standing.
run to woolies, gonna be out of stock soon.
Store specific? Prices change on Wed, don't they? I shopped on Wed and scanned for $5.70
my local had had no price tags and it was scanned full price lol
people will get a taste for cage eggs now, they are much better. you can taste the fear.
oo yea.
I bet just like RBA board enjoyed their after party wine.
I know you're kidding, but free range eggs don't taste any different
So not nation wide and store specific even in NSW? Boo….
Is it only bondi?
Probably.
I searched multiple stores across Sydney (and some random interstate stores) via the Woolworths app, and the only store that had this special offer was Bondi Junction. All other stores listed this for $6.70 (or were out of stock).
The only way I would have be able to check the price at all Woolworths stores is to manually set my store on the Woolworths app to each of the 1,000+ stores and then see the price that comes up…
Only Bondi i guess.. .. Checked @ frenchs forest $6.70
Poor chickens.
CFMEU chickens are on $70 per egg…
$70 an egg still doesn't cover the hazard pay of your body giving out and a guaranteed trip to the abattoir the moment you slow down. Also, what happens to all the male chicks?
It's also on my store in Oatley - 40% off - plenty of stocks.
Finally, a reasonable price for eggs.
If they are all indoors, how is it free range then?
This is like the covid arguments about people's freedom and lockdowns. Just because you are confined to a cage doesn't mean you aren't free range, if there was a madman outside with a gun shooting people the police also would not let you leave your home.
Agree regarding the madman thing, but if a hens are not allowed to roam, then they should not be kept indoors and call it free range. They should pause free range production then. Otherwise people who buy these for ethical reasons would continue to buy these instead of reducing egg usage.
Try living inside a cage 24/7 with supplied food/water with no room to stand. Far different to living in a cage where you can stand and even stretch.
If it's under 1500 a month can I join the waiting list?
The cage here means 0 movement if I am correct. Previously or even now in some countries they grow the chicken in a bamboo. Similar to a dog got leased 24/7 with minimum movement.
Also check out how the baby chickens are handled.
I went to Woolworths Bondi Junction. These eggs have an expiry date of October 21st and use the old packaging, priced at $4; eggs with a later date come in different, new packaging and are priced at $5.70.
Make sure you complain online about the Colesworth duopoly before you buy these
The ACCC endorsed this mislabelling months ago. They should be made to put "currently kept indoors due to quarantine arrangements" stickers on the boxes.
