Yes, this is my first post and yes, me and my brother vibe coded a lot of this with AI tools. Saying that upfront but I know some of you will still have a dig at me. Go easy please, but honest feedback will be appreciated.

Why I built it I was a painter for years. After a long day on the tools, the last thing you want is to sit at the computer doing quotes and invoices. I wanted something I could use on my phone in the van/ute before driving home. I didn't want the big monthly fee, so we built Invogo.

What it does

  • Quotes and invoices for tradies, freelancers and small businesses
  • GST (10%) added automatically
  • Verifies your ABN so your business details show up correctly
  • Works on your phone (iOS and Android) and in the browser
  • Send, preview, share and track invoices, and mark them paid, unpaid or overdue
  • Client list and a simple dashboard
  • Export invoices/quotes list for BAS and Tax Returns lodgement

It's not Xero or MYOB. There's no bank feed, payroll or BAS lodgement. It's just quoting and invoicing, kept simple.

Free tier first You don't need to pay anything to use it. The free plan is free forever (not a trial), no credit card needed: 5 invoices or quotes a month, up to 5 clients, basic templates, PDF download and ABN verification.

  • Is this for tradies?

    • Mainly for tradies. I was one myself so had that in mind mostly when building this

  • Square allows you to create invoices for free as well as most AI models.

    • Fair call! Square does provide free invoicing and yes, you can get ChatGPT and other models to spit out an invoice too.

The downfalls with some of those options are things like keeping your numbering straight, tracking who's paid and who's overdue, turning a quote into an invoice, and having your client list on your phone when you're standing on site. That's the bit Invogo tries to make dead simple for tradies

but honestly, I would stick with the free options as well if I didn't have the budget, hence the free tier

  • Not hating on the vibe coded part (putting aside that financial data needs more scrutiny).

But the value proposition of this one is rough when MYOB Solo is $99/year - first year often as cheap as $6 for the whole year; even if this app is more convenient.

I’d be nervous relying on an upstart app for my business when established, known-brand competition is the same price or cheaper.

    • Fair points, and thanks for not piling on about the vibe coding.
Yes, a lot of it was built with AI tools, but that's where my brother comes in. He has a Bachelor of Computer Science and works full time as a software developer for a US based company, and he was doing that long before vibe coding was a thing. The AI just saved us time, and he reviews everything, especially anything that touches your data. Payments go through Stripe, so we never see card details.
You're right that MYOB Solo is a great deal if you want a known brand and full bookkeeping. Invogo is for tradies who just want to quote and invoice from their phone, and the free tier lets you try it with no risk.

  • Back in my day I used to just use excel…

    • Good old days…
