  • Cheaper per unit here

      Cheaper for a reason

      • It's going to leak before getting into action. That's such a turn off!

    • I've consistently had a bad experience with Maxell batteries & their shelf lives. Amazon Basics are generally better IMHO, though YMMV.

      • I bought amazon basic battery in 2016 in the US and put it in a digital thermometer and last I changed it was in 2025. Insane!

  • Genuine question: why buy these over rechargeable batteries?

    • Rechargable batteries have a slightly lower voltage 1.2v vs 1.5v in these. Some devices like remotes or RC vehicles don't work as well with the lower voltage

      • Yep, pretty much this and if you also have a toddler/young children, sometimes you just want to set and 'forget' a battery in the myriad toys they play with.. Bit tricky to track multiple toys with rechargeable batteries etc.

        • We are expected to dispose the batteries safely tho.

          • @bcYield: Yeah, of course - just mainly talking about tracking which toy has what kind and type of battery when they're all going at the same time - there can be at least 2 dozen batteries.

          • @bcYield: I've given away my kid's toys and many I had forgotten they had rechargable batteries in them

        • Yup, don't know how much toys have been given away/thrown out with eneloops inside them.

          • @krisspy: Wouldn't you always check the battery compartment before doing that regardless?

          • @krisspy: omg same, like i've bought all these rechargeable batteries but can't seem to find wtf they all are lol

but yeah if theres anything i chuck, definitely have a look to see what battery is inside just in case its a rechargeable battery :)

      • Ah I didn't know that!

      • Lithium rechargeable are alot more popular now, provides the full 1.5v

      • Dont do well in some photographic flash units either!

    • These hold more power if I remember well. But I'd try to stick with rechargebale ones for less waste.

      • Yeah I only use rechargeable mainly for the waste factor. That said, I haven't had any issues with devices and rechargeables.

    • I've got a stack of 'things' that only need a battery replaced every 6-12 months or even longer. Think salt and pepper grinder, TV remote, silly dancing llamas, clock radio etc etc.
In no way is it economical to buy rechargeable batteries for them.

    • Which rechargable batteries do you recommend? I haven't IKEA but don't seem to be able to buy anynore

      • Honestly I get whatever is on sale or cheap. The last set I purchased I got from Ikea a few months ago when they went back in stock. Are they sold out again?

  • These ones are really good for pelting straight into the ocean, cover more surface area

    • Not quite as good as car batteries but the electric eels appreciate it nonetheless

      • Don't underestimate household wastes. People including drivers would treat car batteries more carefully due to the cost at least.

        • Some stores do rebates with used car batteries, don't use them as boat anchor.

  • Is 3xcamels not reliable anymore shows this as $39 currently.

Also I recently purchased at $28 thinking it was a low price after checking 3xC. Any reliable price trackers for Amazon..

    • Could be because it's a Prime deal not available to non-members. I didn't get a 3x camel notification for a printer - it too was only a Prime deal.

  • I think it's better to buy batteries fresh as you need them. Even if it ends up more expensive. Supercheap had 36 for $10 less $5 member credit recently. More than enough for 1-3 years if you rely them.

    • I paid $1 for the $6 18x AA battery at SuperCheapAuto with the free $5 member bonus two weeks ago.

  • Not so sure about quality , from last year , it barely lasts 2 weeks in the pool remote which is used once ina week

  • Amazon batteries made all my eneloops obsolete.

  • I think the quality of these batteries are pretty ordinary. I got heaps last time they had a promo and didn't get to use half of them and rest is rubbish…..

  • Is it cheaper than SCA when 24 goes for $5
