  • Great price!

    • o yeah this is a good price for a 800mm pro lens for sure. Pain in the arse to travel overseas with though lol.

  • Yeah I grabbed one on Friday. I didn't post because it was the last one in stock, but seems they have them now for delivery in a few weeks time..

    • That’s explains. I saw it yesterday then by the time
I was free to write the post, it was gone LOL.
I have one. Really well made and solid. Love it though it’s heavy as.

      • though it’s heavy

Looked it up after reading your comment, psssh it's light! :P
Well… lighter than the sony 200-600 for example, and that's always seemed reasonably light for what it is.

      • Heading to Africa in 5 weeks.. been watching prices and thousands of youtube videos trying to decide between the 200-800 and the 100-500L. When I saw the price and there was only 1 available, I jumped on it and getting delivered Monday I think, so I will have to time try/test/practice with it before heading off.. I just hope it is not "soft" at 800 like some online rumours suggest.. also get to try it a bit before deciding if I also grab the 1.4x TC but I feel anything past 800 will struggle with atmosphere and other issues that cropping at 800 will suffice. I did realise afterwards I was going to double check it will fit in my bag!!!

        • I just got back from Kenya and the 200-800 was perfectly fine on a R6M2 with a little cropping needed in some cases (particularly birds). I found that it wasn't soft at 800 if you were close to the subject, but if you were zooming in on something in the distance (say >100m away), it was softer due to heat/atmosphere as lot of reviews also suggest. You're going to love the lens over there, it helps so much with getting close.

You really need a backpack, the lens is massive!

        • It’s an amazing lens. The 1.4x extender makes it even better. Mate I go birding with twice a week can’t get enough of it.
I have the big 400mm 2.8, and the 200-800 just trumps it for reach and portability.
Tempted to buy it myself but going on holiday in December and want to hold off for the TRS 😅

  • Would've grabbed this if I didn't already have the RF 100-500mm!

    • wife is in the same boat - she asked me to get her this extender instead.

      • Yep considering that as well… no brainer on the 100-500 if you dont have the 200-800, though it sucks it has limited range and a little bit harder to put on and off due to that.

    • This is a fairly new lens, the mount for it didn't even exist ten years ago. Might want to check what you actually have before getting random thoughts on prices.

    • Huh? This RF lens was released in 2023! R-mount cameras first came out in 2018.
I don’t recall Canon ever made 200-800 for their previous EF full frame cameras either…

    • Canon has a very closed ecosystem in the RF mount for anything over 300mm basically anything good for wildlife so its either this or the RF 100 - 500 L which is about 1.5k more and that makes them very sought after on the second hand market. There's also a nice discount on the RF 100- 500 at the moment on Amazon too if you have the coin.

  • Girls and their big tele's …

  • Decent lens for that price. Not the best IQ but for ~$2400 worth grabbing for anyone doing wildlife photography

  • Are these big lenses still relevant anymore? All your Facebook friends are going to assume it’s AI, or seen better AI photos. Only you are going to appreciate the end result. What will you do with this lens?

  • Deal expired now that Ted’s put their price back up…
