    • Thank you. I just finished my 4 months with Rabo so looking for a new one atm. Ubank is my usual but 5.35 isnt great just at the minute.

  • Guess I found a new place to stash money for 4 months, see you again soon Macquarie

    • Same here. hahaha

    • you never had a ubank or previously closed ?

      • Yes, I thought everyone here already had UBank.

      • Wife hasn't had ubank ever, and spare funds go there

  • Everytime the rates change I guess we're getting a deal per bank now…. For either savings or loan rates…

  • Any signup bonuses better than $30?

  • So unfortunate I signed up to Ubank right before their $50 sign-up bonus and now I have one month of 6.10%… nevertheless this is looking good

  • I think we as a society need to collectively resist rewarding companies or even straight up ban business models that rely on "gotchas". There is no sensible reason why increasing your balance by $1 should be required.

Just give customers a fair competitive rate and stop putting clauses in there to catch people out. It's disgusting.

    • You're acting like the balance requirement is buried deep in their T&Cs, they're quite transparent with their bonus rate eligibility.

      • I think you totally missed the point that @minijumbuk was making.

It is the silly games these banks are playing, e.g. increase your balance by $1, $200, etc.
FFS! Why is that even necessary?

    • Requiring an increase in balance means the account is less rate driven for the purposes of APRA's APS210.

      • Is it really though if it's $1 and the bonus rate makes up almost the entirety of the interest rate

    • Fully agree. It wouldn’t be so bad if the bonus rate was say just 1% extra. So if you grow your balance you get 5.35% and if you don’t you get 4.35%. But to give nothing and just keep it all is greedy.

    • totally agree, and thats why I don't bother with these and stick to Macquarie.

Mental peace so much better while not chasing the last 0.1% and jumping these insane hoops every month

    • It iz what it is,

go into the position that can change this then
