Probably carbon-zinc which means shelf life isn't long.

the worst batteries you can get. Use time is bad too.
Use Alkaline for long life, or NiMH for high drain.

"Super Heavy Duty" is a deceptive anachronism - should not be in title. Try "crappy C-Zn".

  • They are not Alkaline folks.

Need batteries? Try low self discharge NiMH cells. As little as $2.50 per battery and they last much longer than so called super heavy duty cells (which can't deliver a high current). Need true 1.5v per cell? Try NiZn rechargeables off eBay.

I can see the need to use lithium primary cells in some situations (10+ year shelf life, very light), but everywhere else it's time to stop filling landfills.
