    Yeah, I don't think so:

Please note: Our helmets are designed, tested and approved according to strict international bicycle helmet safety standards (EN1078 and CPSC: 16CFR1203). Recent changes to bike helmet safety standards in Australia mean that our helmets are ONLY approved for use with scooters, skateboards, roller-blades etc and are NOT approved for use with bicycles or motorised vehicles.

Go to Big W instead and buy a Rosebank. Fully compliant with Australian Standards ASNZS2063 and cheaper. And you also won't have to make this ridiculous distinction between riding a skateboard and riding a bicycle. It's your head and you've only got one.

I'd agree with that move, but for the opposite reasons. All the cheap helmets are more or less the same, and aren't going to protect your brain from any real damage in a serious collision. They're mainly protection from scratches and scrapes. Therefor coverage of the helmet is what's important, and with the BigW helmets having the same coverage but costing $25, may as well get it.

Unless this is a metal helmet? Hard to tell if its metal or just metalized paint.

Whats ridiculous is to assume there is a difference between the rosebank and this one. If each time the standards are changed a product needs to be retested, chances are this helmet would comply with the new standards just fine, but the manufacturer didn't find the cost worthwhile. I certainly wouldn't let it influence my decision unless the construction had dramatically changed.

correct - this micro helmet is not currently approved for bikes in australia merely due to it not yet having been tested under the new standard, but apparently will be soon with the expectation of passing given that it complies with european and american standards

…and when if/when it is tested and passes, all the existing old stock will still have to be sold as non-compliant, or scrapped, because they don't have the magic sticker.

New stock with the magic sticker (which is known to protect occupants from being killed if run over by a bus) will be otherwise identical, but with a higher price tag to reflect the cost of testing to the unique Australian standard, which we have because we're special and need our helmets to be tested to different tests to the rest of the world. Not harder or easier, just different. Aussie Aussie Aussie.
