  • I really want to get one of these, but I bought 2 last time and got 2 greens… it looks so ugly in green (this was the other one, not the slinger… so it was green coloured all over)

it sucks how you can't choose the colour…

  • +1

Not sure what you are talking about with the green, but I saw this on their specs:

Available in 2 colours (Grey and Blue), randomly selected and shipped. Ink colour in blue/black randomly selected.

    Ordered 1… why not

    • +1

oh, thanks for pointing it out, I'm getting one then :)

(last time they offered these pens I bought it and got 2 green ones :P)

    • i recived today,it's green one. ugly indeed

  • I really like my Parker pen. I think I'll get another.

  • I think they're kind of missing the point if they think someone wants to wear a pen

  • +1

just bought 5, as cheap Christmas gifts to friends who work in offices. Thanks for the tip

    • do u know if the pen comes in a Parker box?
cuz it'll look alot more presentable as christmas presents if it comes in a box.

      • They come in a clamshell type package

  • I ordered this last night and the status is Payment-eway. Does anyone know what that means?

  • +1

I just bought two pens. 1 for me 1 as Christmas gift. Nice and cheap. :)

    • +1

While I am a merchant, I really only visit this site now as a consumer, so take my comments below in that spirit."

Whilst its nice your trying to help, should customers only get help once they mention their problem in public here? Are you here as a representative now or as non Rep?

    Can I ask this….

WHY do people put COTD stuff on this site for :|

is it just to bump up there own ratings or whatever, I cant see any reason for it.

Oh, the pen, its a ripoff.

    • +8

why shouldn't people post COTD items? How are they any less relevant to any other store that gets posted here.

I've benefited many times from the posts here, especially when they did the LCD TV promotion a few months back. Never had an issue with them either.

If it doesn't interest you just don't look at it.

    • +1

They put it on here because they have bargains which is why this site exists.

Why are you here if u complain about people putting bargains up. Its the who reason this site is here

    • +1

Seem like an inappropriate comment to make for someone who has been on OZBargain for only a day.

Isn't that the whole point of having ozbargain?
      It's a win-win situation,
sellers get rid of excess stock, we buy them at a discount.
(well, if it is not relevant to you, then just ignore the post, that's how ozbargain works.)

    • Er, I don't regularly visit the COTD site, and if I do, I often miss the small fish.

I have bought many items from COTD simply because it was listed on OzBargain.

The EEEPC 1000HE laptop being the latest I recall.

Sure, things like http://dealdump.com.au/ exist but there are no valuable comments like there are in this thread about the pen, minus yours of course.

      • -1

So even when you DO visit the COTD you don't see the small fish?
You're even aware of dealdump.com.au and still fell the need for COTD offers to be posted here?
We don't get EVERY item thats in a supermarket catalog listed here, no reason for most of the small or daily catchs to be posted here either. The only time people may wish to post COTD offers is the SOS (as they may not subscribe).
Everybody here that can read this website should be able to visit the COTD website, if they can't then how are they going to buy it via the site anyway. I don't see the need for daily deal type site posting here.

WHY do people put COTD stuff on this site for :|

How can you say that when you purchased toothbrushes from COTD after it was posted on OB

    Well said, AMLagonda.

This is why we need the ability to ban businesses that hold no interest to us.

    • Hold no interest to you. 24 votes and counting.

    • This is why we need the ability to ban businesses that hold no interest to us.

A business you dont find useful is still going to be useful to other people.

Name some businesses which should be banned from OB as they do not benefit any OB reader.

  • Nice, I just bought 2! My previous orders were very quickly delivered too…

  • +2

some of the deals are good, others are not. but thats what ozbargain is about, you vote down the crap ones, and vote up the good ones. If you don't vote, then the website can't improve. simple.

  • Hey guys, I am new to COTD and I would like to know their service and delivery. I read lots of bad reviews posted last year. How are they this year?

    • +2

i've never had issues. They delivered my laptop within 2-3 days

btw, did you hear bad reviews at the whirpool forums? dw, just ignore, its whinge-heaven there. Seriously, google "Do not shop at [insert any shop name]" and whingepool will be the first result

Hi brillian, I'm only a fairly recent customer of COTD but so far I'm a very happy one! I've picked up some great bargains there, and shipping has always been efficient and well priced. As always, you've gotta know what the things you're interested in are worth generally, but that's just commonsense and due diligence! ;)

As for customer service, here's a little anecdote: when I purchased an eeePC 701sdx from them a while back, for some reason the free shipping code never got applied (now bear in mind I'm mega stingy so we're talking the princely sum of $8.95), so I shot off a polite email to them. Within a couple of hours the equally polite reply was effectively "sorry about that, how would you like it processed, store credit or refund to account?"; I asked for the latter, and it was done with no dramas at all! Textbook good service IMHO! :)

    wow, Pen is huge!

  • Not sure about pens but recently purchased batteries and also the magic box. Postage was very quick although the packaging was basic and the magic box (which was to be a gift) had holes through wrapping and into box.

  • Thanks for the replies. I'll try buying from them. Hope they have good delivery.

  • +1

    Pen is a rip off??

Do u expect it to be 99 cents?

I've seen worste things posted on this website… what makes this so bad?

    gosh

Just placed an order, mainly because it's a Parker pen and possibly because it's not expensive and I am bored. Thanks.

  • I don't like it. It's not a Spring-loaded pen. If you lose the lanyard, the ink and ball are exposed and stop working. Not a good design :(

    • Wrong, It is a spring loaded pen.

  • Yes, have to admit it's not an awfully exciting item - ie, ball point pen, but for the cost and brand name it's a great gift idea. I've just ordered one and i think the price is pretty reasonable.

  • I probably shouldn't be writing this but people don't seem to understand the point of having ozbargain. This is a bargain site for goodness sake.

Firstly, companies DO have a place on ozbargain. That's why the "REP" status exist and it was a decision made by Scotty, or dear OZBargain's owner. So, i really don't see why there are those who say that they should not be allowed.
(It has already been decided by the site's owner)

Secondly, i do understand that not everyone would consider this an offer. But if it has nothing to do with you, can you just not comment. It's like reading a diaper ad, and saying it's not a bargain becos i do not have children and do not need diapers. Hey, there are people out there who would consider this a bargain.

Thirdly, (personally) i feel that OZBargain should have a rule prevent people from commenting during the first week of account activation. This is to prevent people like "AMLagonda" (see above) who within hours of opening an account, post a negative comment.(and i suspect that that is the only comment he will ever post). Just my opinion.

    • Most people who visit Ozbargain AREN'T members (Scotty has stated this before), so when they finally wish to comment they join and made their comment. AMLagonda has probably been to this website MANY times but decided to join to voice their opinion. Its the same for people who join and then post a deal (non REPs that is), they read and finally wish to have an input so join.

    • bsmkmg - we do have forums for a reason. there is already a discussion on this topic here: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/16624

      • Yup, that's why i started with "I shouldn't be writing this here…".
However, unless a person have been on this site for a long time, they probably won't be reading the forum.
Just wanted to point out that it's ok to voice one's opinion, however it's not ok to create a account just to post a one-off negative comment. Like any site, there should be some restrictions on what new member can post.

I'll just quickly address some of the gripes mentioned above:

1 - "Omg this is not a bargain" "Not a nice pen - no bargain". I don't think that's the point. At $5.95 delivered, it is a saving against the price as sold elsewhere. You may question the value, or need for this item, but this debate is endless and can be had over any item or bargain. Feel free to negative the deal, but I thought I'd make that point.

2 - "COTD Delivery times are slow". Anyone that has had slow delivery time in the last 5-6 months needs to get in touch with me directly. If a mistake has been made, I'd like to know so we can patch it up. E-mail: [email protected]. The vast majority of the orders placed are shipped within 48 hours of payment processing completion, at that point it is in Aus POST hands.

3 - "Ozbargain is turning into COTD". Another endless debate, I think it would be nice to clarify that no representative from COTD is posting or promoting deals on OzBargain. The posts are being made by interested members. I was among the first reps to post deals on the site, since then I have learnt that if its a good deal, it will appear on its own and people will decide. Merchant posting was a good thing in the early stages of the site to encourage content growth, since then I'm sure OZB members prefer scooping the points for posting it themselves - I leave it to you guys!

  • Bit disappointed - I ordered 4 and got 4 ugly aqua blue ones! Not one black, and the blue is NOT the dark blue as pictured! The pen itself is alright for $5.95 - will avoid in the future and be using them as stocking fillers!

    • I got ALL blue as well. Kinda disappointing.

    • I ordered 3 and I got 3 aqua green ones. Damn I don't like this colour. and the whole thing feels cheapish light and plasticky. The pen itself is nice though, writes blue with the usual quink refill. Just that colour thing I was a bit disappointed.

The worst part is that where the plastic chrome and the coloured plastic meets, there are 2 sharp edges and they're not evenly flushed, which protrudes out, not good quality. I had to file the pointy chrome down with a pair of scissors.

I do like the thick grip, which is also a rubber grip.

      • Dude, thats dodgy. According to the description at the time, it stated thisL

Available in 2 colours (Grey and Blue), randomly selected and shipped. Ink colour in blue/black randomly selected.

I received a aqua one aswell..

        haha

      • Aqua blue, aqua green ,it's the same colour. I think everyone got the same colour.

Did anyone actually get the black or the dark blue.

  • I just received mine.

    Not worth it at all…

    Poor quality and plastic.

Worth 1-2 dollars not 6 dollars

  • received mine today (WA) got 3 dark blue with blue ink-yes very cheap looking
will use them as stocking stuffers .look like $2 pens

  • You guys never learn…why you let COTD fooled you by some text in their description ie. randomly selected your chance is 1 in a 100. They have alots of crap (colours in this case + poor quality) and only a few other colour.
Why people keep buying stuff from COTD… this is beyond my guess.

    • Personally, i don't see why not.
I am pretty sure that more than 1/2 of us here who bought knew that the "randomly selected" was pure rubbish, but still bought anyway.
Essentially, this pen's RRP is way above what COTD was selling it for, and from my point of view, if i gave it to someone as present and they looked up the price, they would know that this pen isn't cheaper. (Thus, me masking the fact that i got it cheaply).
