UsenetBucket - 27% off - 'Basic Bucket' Unlimited 12 Month Plan - EUR 23.25 (~ $35 Aud) - Renewals only

110

Usenetbucket is a good value provider, that I have been using for the last couple of years for my usenet 'requirements'

They are having a 27% off sale, running until the 5th October.

  • Basic Bucket - 1100 days contention, unlimited data, 25 connections, 10Mbps speed limit) comes to about $35AUD/year after the 27% discount (less than $3/mth)
(EUR 31.85, less 27% and converted to AUD, without any paypal or conversion fees).

If you can live with the 10Mbps speed limit its a bargain at less than $3/mth for unlimited newsgroup access, and I have very very little issues with missing files in my linux distro downloads.

Alternate plans are
* Comfort Bucket - 1100 days contention, unlimited data, 25 connections, 40Mbps speed limit) comes to about $59AUD/year (less than $5/mth)
* Ultimate Bucket 0 1100 days contention, unlimited data, 25 connections, 400Mbps speed limit) comes to about $154AUD/year (not sure why you would need 400Mbps but if you did its about $12/mth)

They have a free 7 day trial, and additional free days for referral sign ups, so you could sign up to try it out free for a couple of days before committing

Mod: Referral codes/links not permitted. Please see guidelines & Announcement

They have a free 7 day trial

They used to have free lifetime accounts, still have mine although I've never used it in the years I've had it.

Ah yes I am, I shouldn't post when I've just woken up.

        • or drunk

        • @Trantor:

I don't drink as people always try to take advantage of me.

        • @Scab: Wasn't meaning you specifically, but in general!

          @Trantor:

Well now you know so don't try anything.

        • @Trantor: You took advantage of him anyway?…

      • Thanks for reminding me I had one of these free accounts too! Signed up in 2011 and completely forgot about it.

  • That's cheap for an unlimited plan.
I always found block accounts to be better value.
I topped up my Newsgroupdirect a/c recently 1Tb for $us36, which will last me about 3-4yrs (mixed with several other block providers).

Op the plan is 10Mbit I. E. Speed of downloading will be around 1.25Mbps. Not a good deal considering there are alternate options like Frugal for $40-$50 depending on what link you have to signup (hint - check expired posts links seems to still work)

    • Depends if you care about maximum speed.
This is still 30% cheaper than a $50 frugal deal (with higher contention and a different backbone supplier)

    • Not sure why I was negged. I was merely highlighting that the OPs post suggests the plan supports speeds of 10Mbps where in reality the plan speed limit is 10Mbit.

  • Hi SBOB - I'm not seeing the discount, just regular pricing. What am I doing wrong?

    • Pretty sure it only shows up after you have an account.

So, possibly make a free trial account first and then the renewal will have the discount.

Apologies, I was just looking at it from already being logged in.

Though the free sign up only works from referral, and my referral link was removed… Not sure why, as it's not one of the sites in the referral wiki?

  • So, looks like you need to already be a member and the discount applies on renewal

Referral wiki link added, so free trial sign up available.

Modified deal heading to indicate renewals only.

  • Why did you put 'requirements' in apostrophes?

My usenet purposes require air quotes…

  • I currently use UsenetServer from an old deal but this works out heaps cheaper and dont use the service as much as I used to. Will check it out, cheers.
Though sadly retention is 1/3 of my current provider and I do get old things.

    • I lied and did some poor math, mine is currently cheaper for more, thanks though

Just signed up to a free bucket and was able to get this deal by going to promotions in the control panel.

You can use a promo code aswell. Think it was Cecilia23, but can't see it anymore. I'm sure if you ask support they'll let you know

  • Btw - who is Caecilia?
