hmm, lots of refreshing on that day.

  • +1

it sounds good… but the mods and/or trolls might get angry since its not an 'active' deal…

  • -1

Should i take it off??? What should i do ?

    • leave it. if mods wanna take it down they will. they have taken some down in the past but sit it out and see…

      • +1

As this offer is for 11 mins only , i thought it is good to put it up in advance so people can prepare for the same.

I am sure alot of people would love this deal as it is solid bargain

        Cheers
        P

    • +1

Keep the deal. This is just like the $1 day at 7/11. Although the deal was at a later time, it was good to know earlier. Not everybody will know that this deal will be on tomorrow so better leave it here so people know when to hit wotif. Nice deal IMO

  • -8

    off with their heads!
the rules are clear, if the deal isn't active, it gets taken down, otherwise this forum would be packed full with all the other "non active yet" deals!

    • +4

so he/she's only allowed to post it during the 11 minutes the deal is active? What's the point of that?

    • </sarcasm> don't forget to close your tags.

    • +2

the rules are clear - its your interpretation that isn't

      • +1

Pos to jug head. Read this sort of comment time and time again. The not active rule is specifically related to group buy deals. I thought people would've got this by now.

  • +10

More like for 11 seconds on that day until the sites host server will be a molten pile on the floor after 3million cheap asses…myself included hammer the crap out of it…good luck getting anything. Makes me wonder if any of these sales people ask their I.T person if these gimmicks will work with the current infrastructure they have in place

    • +7

Nobody cares what IT thinks - trust me on that one…

They will get the free publicity, good or bad, out of this one, that's all that matters. 11 people might get a deal

    • +4

I am in IT , and i maintain servers and belive me it would be a nightmare to handle the traffic this deal would create for 11 mins

      • +2

me too - have you EVER had marketing ask you what you think about their ideas and what effect they would have on your systems?

        • +3

          Lol never

    • Yep. Marketing don't care about us. :(

  • Never, I come to know in the meeting a week before or 15 days before if i am lucky.

    • ha - I usually hear about it when the systems go down.

Which 11 minutes will it be on the 24th?

  • +1

…"Limited property selection and availability applies.
Entire booking must be completed within the 11 minute time frame. Promotion may sell out early."

  • When is the "11 minutes" ?? 11:11 ~ 11:22?
nice deal if I can be online to grab one

  • I bet the site is gonna b so slow and nothing will be booked within 11 minutes

  • +5

Judging by the watch the woman is wearing in the pic, 11:11 would be a good guess…

    Prepare for server meltdown!

    • +4

Even though the time on her watch when looked at from her perspective is 11:25

      • +3

        Gold star!

Although 11:22 is the cut off…

      • +3

        how'd you work that out?
If i look at the hand and hold mine the same, my watch would say 2:35.

        • Sorry meeks - man .. accidentally clicked "-", rather than "+";

Scotty… you should add an option in one's profile to allow them to be prompted for confirmation when clicking "-ve".

        • upvoted for you

you should add an option in one's profile to allow them to be prompted for confirmation when clicking "-ve".

          too much hassle for 'neggers'

  • +5

    You guys smell that?

    Sniff sniff

    smells like COTD

    • +1

      most likely

      11 minutes

1 deal for every minute, they should've increased the time

      i expect angry customers

      i.e.

      Adds product to cart
      Minute has passed
      Products are gone

    • Nah. COTD smells like a dirty used (read pay as you go) cha cha. This just smell like old footy boots.

  • +3

Anyone knows Wotif.com's ASX ticket symbol? Yeah that's what I was going to say when I saw the deal :P

  • +1

Everyone thinks that this social network marketing thing is the key to marketing success in the future. Problem is that NO ONE knows how to do it. NO ONE. All sorts of so called experts out there - no one knows anything worth knowing about it. Marketers need to use marketing knowledge.
    end rant

So on topic: this is just a "clever" way to bring attention to facebook and twitter - as if that's the holy grail of good marketing. Stupid businesses

  • +1

"Entire booking must be completed within the 11 minute time frame."

If the server is getting hammered, this will be very difficult to achieve.

  • +2

sounds like a potential crash of the day

    • +6

is that not what COTD stands for?

      • +3

        LOL this facebook comment…

        Damian Burton
WOTIF, take out the vowels and all you get left with is WTF

        • OI!

        • Damian must have been prescient.

  • i have to leave a comment here so that ill not miss the deal n get any info frm
    u guys!

  • any info on the time yet? i need to set my alarm to wake up for it =P
maybe just before 11 to be safe

  • Their facebook link

    http://www.facebook.com/wotif?sk=wall

    many people waiting for it

also twitter, http://twitter.com/Wotif , shows 900+ people following(waiting for it to start)

  • any update on the time?

  • +1

I wonder if it will be at 11am or 11.11.11am?

    • +1

Not a bad theory. An 11AM start (so, 11 -> 11:11) has the most instances of 11 in it.

  • ZZZZzzzzz…saw this on their twitter page

Morning! You've prob heard we have $11 deals for 11 mins on Wotif today…stay tuned to find out wot time so you can snag a deal.

  • :) I am trying to work out how to use (my son's) facebook - never used it myself :)

I guess we just need that to know what time it starts.

  • got excited for a second when I saw a new twit from wotif at 11:22am
    quote
"Check out today's Wot Deal 4.5* Pool Port Douglas for $99 inc bathrobe! Won't last long http://ht.ly/4l9LT
    2 minutes ago "

    almost there
also rushed home from uni thinking it would most likely be on at 11am-ish :P

  • The next twit may be just an announcement of the time..

  • Yes, I guess 11.11 Queensland time - In 8 mins - would be too soon then.

  • +1

I didn't realise how many twits there were on Facebook … people saying "thanks I got 3 $11 deals" etc. when it hasn't started yet.

  • Is it just me or the site (Wotif.com) is not rendering properly?

Edit: Getting lots of 403 Forbidden on images.wotif.com

  • Mine seems to load fine but site is very slow.

Edit: Okay, no. It's loading all weird now.

  • I love how they tell everyone to go to the site…then they advise everybody not to!

  • I don't get access to twitter/facbook

so a quick "its on" would be mega appreciated!

  • +4

I wonder how much productivity is being lost in offices throughout Australia as a result of this stunt. (You can imagine how many people are constantly clicking refresh)

Wotif should have provided some type of time indication.

    • I wonder how much productivity is being lost in offices throughout Australia as a result of this stunt.

      yes for sure!
BTW which site we need to check dot AU or not?

      • +2

        According to their tweet here,

U don't need to keep going to Wotif.com, the only place you'll be told when the sale starts is Twitter or FB! Nothing will appear on the HP.

So just reloading their Twitter feed. Actually you don't even need to do it — just leave your browser on their Twitter page, and Twitter will notify you if there's update.

        • cheers Scotty!

        • According to firebug, xml http requests (ajax) are getting sent from browser every 90 seconds to pull/check for updates :

          http://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/user_timeline.json?….

that is potentially 90 seconds less time you have in the 11 minute window!

          :)

I'll keep cliking refresh manually every 30 seconds.

          API Call doc:
          http://dev.twitter.com/doc/get/statuses/user_timeline

        • +1

They are probably doing long poll/comet calls so new tweets might be instant, i.e. 90 seconds might be just your browser timing out waiting for long poll replies.

But yeah. Smart move from Wotif. Asking people to refresh Twitter rather than refreshing their own home page. Twitter is on that cloud-thingy so it has NEVER go down, right?!

    • I agree. So vague - no time indication, no booking period, nothing!

Guilty re decrease in productivity at work. =X

  • From the twitter page: "Hot tip! While you're waiting for the $11 deals make sure you're familiar with our booking page so you're quick off the mark. "

    Booking page?

    • +1

I can only think they mean the page that opens up when you go to:

      http://www.wotif.com/

I guess if you are really serious, and are unfamiliar with booking with them, you could have a trial run but not complete the process :) … but dont miss the announcement of the time.

  • Are there any specific period for the deal, like only valid for…?

    • +3

In keeping with the theme, maybe you're only allowed to stay in the hotel room on the 11th day of any month, for 11 minutes total? ;-)

  • +1

Is this all falls apart, a la COTD, Wotif's main competitor will be getting my business.

  • ZZzzzz….I'm hungry but dont want to leave my comp

    • +1

Okay I am doing you guys a favour. I am going to fetch some lunch now and the deal will probably start soon after I left my chair. All the best!

      • leave us your mobile # we'll spam you when the deal is on :)

      • Nah safety in numbers: I'm off for lunch too.

      • twitter quote
"When the sale goes live we'll post a link here & FB - you'll have to be quick though because it's only for 11 mins or until sold out."
        2-3min ago
