Fares are for one-way travel in economy class with hand baggage only from Sydney or Gold Coast to Singapore and comprise the price of the air ticket, associated taxes, levies and surcharges, and a credit card service fee of A$6.50 per guest segment valid as on 20 March 2012.     Signed up, but still cannot see the deal and any booking info. And they got my and my friend's email addresses successfully. You must provide at least 2 names and email addresses for sign up, a bit annoying.

        So … simply being a subsidiary doesn't stop them going bust! … but being 'backed' (what ever that implies) by Singapore Airlines does have a little more credibility.

          They will have significantly lower operating costs than Air Australia and shouldnt be compared. Operating OUT OF singapore gives them access to cheaper labour and maintainance costs. The budget airline industry is a proven business model, only companies like Air Australia really struggle because domestic unions prevent them from outsourcing jobs and thus significantly increase their operating costs. I wouldnt worry at all about using Scoot, just as I wouldnt worry at all about using Air Asia.

          Agree unions are an issue, but in Air Australia there is a lot of circumstantial evidence, that management was more to blame, with high promotional costs and extravagence, which was more of an issue than the unions.

          I think Qantas is the one that has the union issues given its an older airline with much more entrenched work practices no one is prepared to give up.

        i think it's only for people who has registered before today. not sure if you can register today to take this offer, i could be wrong though, hopefully

        dont think it's a dodgey website, i have got mine returned from gc-sg for 176 all in. plus 34 dollar for 30 kg checkin allowance

    Ticket categories: basic FLY is $88 including taxes (both ways)
    FLY: Included Cabin Bag = 1 piece 7 kg + laptop 3 kg (Bugger!)
    FLY-BAG: Add $22 for baggage at time of purchase
    "Pack all you can shop till' you drop"(otherwise $28 for 15kg)
    FLY-BAG-EAT: Add another $13 for food

    Gold coast/Sydney <-> Singapore Starts 26 June Bookings up to 27 October
    Note: Booking 1 way from Singapore APPEARS cheaper, but taxes bring it back to $88.

      darn i didnt have that 110 dollar offer (it's on the next day), i took the 88 plus the 34 dollar option. didnt know that 22 dollar extra was for all the baggage you can pack or else i would have got that one instead

          i think 110 for all you can pack is the best deal. the maximum you can purchase is 40kg and that cost 60 bux. so 22 bux extra for maximum baggage allowance is excellent. you need that at least for the return flight

        last time i returned from singapore i had like 80kg worth of items between me and my wife. plus the stuff that i manage to get into the cabin probably all up 100kg.

          FLY-BAG is $6 cheaper than adding luggage after selecting FLY ticket.

        No word on carry-on luggage dimensions. I travel cheap.
        Hope I can take on a small 3kg laptop-pack with other goodies like food for flight instead of a laptop, on top of a 7kg pack (& wear 2 layers of clothes through check-in). Might just buy some food after checkin & before flight.

          How do they logistically check the weight of laptop bag vs other bag? Surely theres not enough time & resources to do such a thing unless you actually look weighed down by your carry ons.

          Discount airlines sometimes do. Just make it look light!!!
          With carry-on only passengers, it takes no more time that passengers with baggage. RyanAir certainly did on every trip. I will be using the backpack I used with them - it just fitted in the size requirements. Would be handy to know Scoots carry-on size requirements before I decide to go light for a month or 2.

          i used airasia most of the time and never had my cabin luggage checked for weight. i guess it would depend they can turn around one day and have them checked so i always make sure it's 7++ kg or below

          In my experience, its entertaining at KL LCCT watching the arguments as people are hit with excess baggage charges on AirAsia flights, including disputes over carry-on weight. But those people know they are way over the limit.
          Just look light or wear all your clothes with gear in the pockets. Once you're past checkin, no ones going to check. Then you can strip down & repack.

      Ignore my advice on return ticket - its cheaper to book separately!
      It came up as SGD 88.00 = au$66.16 - (just saw the 88)

        But there is a au$6 convenience fee on Sin->Aust booking.
        I was not charged a convenience fee on Aust->Sin booking.
        So $72.16 + any exchange fees (Free on 28Degrees CC) vs $88

    Not bad price in the end, my travel dates are both $88 each way, so if I was to book with scoot and jetstar/tiger for my trip I'd have saved maybe $100 or so. pity the servers are spewing errors at me no diff to Airasia.

      if you fly from Sydey to singapore, Jetstar is currently having a sale, cheapest something $340 one way VIA Melbourne. So I believe you save your flight time and about $400-500 return.

        I meant fly Scoot to SIN, then fly Jetstar or Tiger onwards from SIN to your final destination.

        Biggest problem with Scoot is the arrival time in SIN, 19:20! Factoring in 30min to get off the plane and through customs, and min 45min check-in on LCCs, realistically you can't book any onward flights departing earlier than 21:00 on the same day, which is getting a bit too late for departing flights on most airlines except to Malaysia.

      get the 54 dollar deal to visit 3 parks (bird park, zoo and night safari) or pay 80 dollar to have singapore flyer deal included.

      go to sentosa, dont use the cable car to get there, instead take the monorail then when you get to the end of sentosa. there are 3 stops, first is casino, theme park etc, second stop is lookout and lion statue thingy, third is the beach/siloso. from there to return take the 15 dollar cable car trip with skylift from siloso to the lookout

      and shop till you drop in orchard or take bus to go to malaysia (kl) for cheaper shoppings. or you can rent a car (i used hawk car rental in johor) then you can make lots of stops along the way like johor, malaka, seremban to try the local food and shopping as well

        Most of the time these days, you can actually fly to KL from Singapore (or vice versa) at a cheaper price than taking the bus. The only thing is, you'd have to make your way to the city center from the KL airport, which is at least an hours drive away.

    Booked all ok. It was like A$100 one way including meal, check in bag and choose regular seat for free.
    It's cheaper to fly to Singapore than almost major Australian destinations. and you cannot fail to enjoy Singapore (and of course via Singapore airport).

    Best price ever between SYD and SIN DIRECT FLIGHT.
    I remember way back, there used to be Value Air flying this direct route but it was gone after they were bought by Jetstar.
    Jetstar doesn't fly this route directly anymore and it was really annoying.

    Anyway, here comes another LCC with cheaper rate to get the potential customers who want cheap direct flight.
    All the best to Scoot and I do keep watching and buying good deal tickets as long as they provide.

    Good:
    Dirt cheap flight
    DIRECT flight between SIN and SYD
    Booking is hassle free
    Pre-seat selection is free (unless you choose any extra-leg seat)
    Singapore Airline subsidiary (and I read their fleet is a second hand from Singapore Airline so should be ok)

    A bit of dissapointed (still can bear):
    Earliest flight is from end of June 2012 (I wanted mid June flight)
    Credit card fee (called Convenience fee?) incurred - Still cheaper than Jetstar.

    I do wish Jetstar is watching this Scoot launch closely and IMPROVE their services especially direct filght between SIN and SYD, Free pre-seat booking, cheaper credit card booking fee and above all CHEAPER flight deal. (Their sale prices are getting normal deal and no WOW impact anymore. Also their normal price is nothing better than full-service airlines discount price)

    Anyone have any suggestions for Laser Eye in Singapore? I've seen claims that it is much cheaper and better quality instruments in Singapore. With this deal it could be cheaper than driving to Sydney (from Canberra) and getting it done?

          Dentistry is cheaper in Bangkok, Phuket, Manila or Jakarta and they are all up to good western educated / standard although Singapore is less expensive than Australia. I recommend to do your homework and choose reputable practice.

      i guess, the ferry normally costs 40 dollar return. so if you want to go to indonesia for a day yeah i would say go for it

      Too Late!! There were only a few flights per day starting 26 June at the start of the sale. They went quickly. By the time I decided when to fly, the earliest date was 10 July on special.

      There were a few $88 flights a few hours ago. Booked 10 July-28Aug. A short holiday for me, usually travel 13 weeks at a time, 3 times a year.
