Scoopon wants more media attention I'm guessing.

  • does the coupon expire at the same time as the previous deal?

just $2 in the store .. coupon is free from scoopon

        • +1

Seems like the same as the previous deal, only pay $2 to HJ. You dont pay scoopon.

        • +6

          the payment page clearly says:

          Pay in-store

You won’t be charged by Scoopon

        • +1

Yup cool, thanks for clearing that up!

      • +2

I personally prefer using the coupon to pay in-store so thumbs up to scoopon for that. I don't know how many coupons I have paid for in the past but forgot about them and they expired

    • looks like they are the same expiry date … 8th May

    • Yes same expiry 8 may so good if you've used all yours up/ want more but still only good for around 3 more weeks.

      • +1

damn, has anyone used up their 99 coupons by the way? =P

        • +6

Look out for the OzBargainer that's gained 99kg! ;)

      • +1

erm, you cant "use them all up" because you can use the same coupon over and over again. i print mine out 12 to a page to save paper and ink and not had any problems with it since the last one started.

        • how do you print 12 to a page o.0
          siff they accept that.

        • i only print 9 per page haha u beat me

      • +1

That seems to say that we're -not- as likely to be drawn to Fast-foods anymore (and this is a good thing)…

either because we have less free $$ to spend -or- we're getting Smarter about Healthy Eating (I hope it's this one).

(I -know- I can make myself a much healthier lunch meal from stuff I buy with under $2… ;-)

        • +6

Can I just give you $6 a day then and you can make my family lunch everyday?

        • Really? What's in this <$2 lunch… any meat?

  • I still haven't used up my previous coupons … I'm sure these fast food offers are slowly killing me!

  • +1

it seems like you can only get two coupons

    • +3

You only need one anyway. HJ's dont record the serial numbers or anything, just reprint the same one

      • HJ's refused to accept me having the coupon on my phone because I could just "bring it in again and again". Never mind that I could print off as many copies of the PDF as I like.

Still have 99 coupons remaining to use

        • Sorry to hear that - I have had no trouble bringing in my mobile. I keep a printed copy just in case, but so far no dramas!

      • Has anyone been able to redeem the same voucher more than once? It would be difficult for HJ to impliment the system and they are not missing out on the $2 cashflow.

    • Last time it was up to 99 (at first), so I don't think HJ's will know whether you coupon came from the first offer or the 2nd one… :-)

However, if they're smart & read this thread, they'll start scanning the vouchers & preclude re-use.

From the look & feel of all the HJ's I've been to (to use these vouchers), I'd say:

. HJ's is losing the competition with Maccas & maybe even Subways (no chance here) & they're trying desperately to catch up…

So, it's unlikely they will start scanning the vouchers to trap re-use…

They're selecting for folks who don't care about:

      1. the trans fat risks in chips / fries or
      2. the issue of "Pink Slime" in beef, etc.

If you're buying these $2 deals, you're in the next crop of recruits. ;-)

(There's research that - if you can get someone to do something for ~1 month - you've got a very good chance that they will have developed a HABIT in that time, so they're more likely to do that new thing again in the future…)

PS There really ought to be a web site for folks to do their own long-time
research (eg, login & click on "Fast Food" and "Chips" -or- "Slow Food" and (whatever healthier meal)…

and see how long members of the two groups stay healthy… and how long they "stay" (ie, live).

      • I thought pink slime wasn't an issue in Australia anymore? any info? very interested to know!

      • we never had pink slime in australia

  • +8

egh….. I used one of the pervious vouchers and then realised why I haven't had a whopper in years.

    • +2

      Yes agree.

      • I went in for one, came out with no satisfaction and a headache.

        • +2

the trick is to get them minus onion. The onion taste is there long after the Whopper is digested.

        • They always put too much mayo as well (I skip it). Staff make a mess of a simple thing.

    • -2

I won't eat an hungry jacks. At least with Mc Donalds they give you a reasonably fresh burger.

At HJ the meat always tastes reheated, the buns are stale and I have literally seen them microwaving my cheeseburgers on multiple occasions.

      • Either it's due to the charcoal cooking (Do they still do that?) -or- business being slow, but burger-flippers wanting to make a big stack, so they can get away from the smoke from burning charcoal…

It may be a combination of both…

      • I was surprised when my friend who works at HJ's told me that this is actually part of the standard process making burgers at HJs/ (particularly the cheeseburgers) : They assemble the burger fresh, MICROWAVE it, then serve it to the customer. I guess this explains why the cheeseburgers from HJ are terrible and soggy compared to the Maccas ones…

      • You've always got to ask for something to be added or left out, that way you know it hasn't been sitting around for days.

        • … or wrapped, instead of in a box.

    • +5

Imposter! The real Zoidbergg would never turn down anything vaguely edible.

  • I still have a lot but never use one because whenever I want to use there was never any around.

Also I remember they have the $2 burger only deal during lunch time.

    • But this includes fries.

      • Yes that's what I want to said.

    • +1

Why dont you put them in your wallet

      • -5

I mean I don't have many time to go out for lunch but whenever I need to look for lunch there was never any HJ around.

        • +7

time is an uncountable noun, therefore you should use much

        • "much time" …….. neg because of incorrect English …. :(

        • Pos to purebreed for knowing his grammar terminology.

      • They're too big for wallets…

And - printing 1 per A4 sheet - they waste both dead-tree paper -and- costly ink (not good value).

        • +1

I have showed the vouchers on my phone multiple times and they were accepted.

    • haha … like today I need to have lunch outside but no HJ around only KFC ….. :(

correct it here "much time" :p

  • Same expiry date - 8 May!

  • -2

I got 10 last time and so far used 1.

I better Ebay the other 9 before it expires.

    • How can you ebay them when you still have to pay in store?

    • err its free, are they really stupid enough to buy it?

        • Mind you, that looks like a fair bit of work that's gone into that auction. Still, pretty auction page isn't worth $12 for the buyer (surely?).

        • +2

          OMG!@!!!!!

          $12 for free coupons

          you got to be kidding

          go to hell mr ebay-er

        • @edBARGAIN;

Would you prefer it if they bought out all of the DSi XL's from your local DSE and eBay'd those?

If people are stupid enough to pay for free stuff, then so be it. I'd much prefer all eBay sellers did this than buy-out all the good bargains before anyone else…..

        • +1

"I like to think of myself as a bit of a burger connoisseur. When I go to a restaurant I overlook lobsters, risottos and slow-cooked Guinea Fowl. I look straight to the burger.
I’ve had Kobe Steak burgers, burgers with triple Swiss cheese and crispy chicken delights. But I’ll be buttered on both buns if I could find a better burger than the legendary flame-grilled Whopper® at Hungry Jack's®.
You can’t get much better than 100% Australian beef whacked under the searing tongues of a flame grill. Add fresh salads, tomato sauce and that tangy mayo that drives your tastebuds mad and you’ve got a winner!
Best of all, you can pick up your Whopper® and a small fries for a tiny $2!"

oh my god. this made my day

      • +1

Quite a lot of people ebaying them http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_nkw=hungry+jacks+whopper&…
Fortunately for the sellers, there are people stupid enough!

  • +7

Scored 10 last time, and have a few left…just grabbed 2 from this deal…LOL at the email:

"Congratulations on your Scoopon purchase - get ready to start living large!"

    • yep super size me, hungry jack style!

    • +1

Pretty sure you can use them more than once. They don't check whether they've been used before.

      • true dat

  • +2

    give me some chicken damnit!

  • +1

    Does every scoopon deal include:

Purchase of this Scoopon means you agree that Scoopon will send you the best National and Travel deals every day to your email address (if you are already subscribed to Scoopon’s National deals, nothing will change).

    • No, not normally - it's a marketing opportunity for both companies. You can unsubscribe upon receiving the first email though.

      • It didn't have an unsubscribe button for me :( I just marked it as spam and guess if enough people who use GMAIL do that, they will get blacklisted and spam and it will automatically go to the spam box for others.

  • awesome :)

  • -1

this is crappy if your in melbourne

    • its valid across Australia. - i'm from SA and my stores are participating.

      • +1

edit, just noticed a revised list of stores, my mistake

        • +2

Spencer Street, Swanston Street, Hoddle Street and Melbourne Central aren't in Melbourne? Huh?

Edit: OK you found the list :D

        • thankyou :)

  • I'd like a list of stores not participating!

  • Nice
    +1

  • i got the 99 last time, ended up giving all but 10 of the vouchers away …

veggie burger is good, comes with cheese too!!

  • You can keep getting the scoopon but only 2 each time if you want to go with a group of friends.. ^_^

  • +1

Someone needs to make a map of the participating stores

  • for me, i only need to use 1 coupon. the shop didnt bother to check it serial number.

    • Anyone try to show the coupon on their smartphone (as they really do not check serial no.)?

  • Look out for more coupons ended up on eBay.

  • +1

the hungry jacks on pultney street, SA, doesn't bother checking the serial number either. I've been using the same printout over and over.

  • Someone should post up a pic of their voucher. I dont want to sign up to scoopon!

  • -3

My first visit - using the previous deal's voucher:

    1. We said chips are unhealthy (due to trans fat)
    2. Staffer offered free Orange Juice swap for chips
    3. We accepted & ENJOYED Whopper + OJ for $2

(Several other HJ's matched that modified offer; some
only -after- being made aware of practical wisdom)

—- Has the "Pink Slim" issue brought us this deal?

Does HJ's put "PINK SLIM" into their Whopper, etc.?

    1. I asked an Adelaide-based Area Manager if - like
Macca's - HJ had policy or recently made statement,
agreeing to NO LONGER add "Pink Slim" to their food.

    2. He -said- he had no idea either way (Really?!?)

(Macca's recently agreed not to add it in future,
    which is good.)

(If you know what "Pink Slim" is & how it gets
treated in a final stage of its manufacture,
you WON'T want it in your food ever again…)

Has the "Pink Slim" issue brought us this deal?

PS We find that the Veggie Burger sux.

    • +1

      is it slim or slime?

      • +1

        Should be slime

      • -1

        Ah yes…

        Well if you -don't- eat at Macca's & HJ's
(eg, choosing Subways), I think you'll be SLIM

And - since that Area Manager "didn't" know
if HJ's [still] uses that Pink stuff - I think it's SLIME

        ;-)

        You're right… my bad spelling typo ;-)

    • +1

Its illegal to use "pink slime" in australia for human consumption. It was in the US too until their corrupt politics (meat industry lobbyist pressure) reversed that law and considered pink slime to be meat in the US. We are not that corrupt in Australia yet, but we should really learn from the US's mistakes and do some campaign finance reform here before it becomes impossible.

  • I took one of my kids to HJ's the other day with my coupons.
Also ordered a small (bottomless) drink each, and extra $4, $2 ea…WTF
    Beware the extras.

I true Ozbargain spirit I should have ordered only one small drink and got two straws

    • EVERYTHING is Negotiable…

Why not try -haggling- at HJ's today? ;-)

  • Been using the same prints outs over 400 times.

    • -3

      "My name is Michael Moore…
.if you'd be willing to eat nothing by HJ's
. for a whole month, & let me film it…

Well, you could get your 15 minutes of Fame early!"

      :-)
