Thanks op, I wonder if eBay will ever issue a coupon called JACKETH…😅

Read it as Slim Dick Console.

You triggered a few with slim dicks, I guess.

  • 5 available, 14 sold

  • +15

I have the slim and my brother has a the 1200 model (the latest fat ps5)

the fan is MUCH louder on the slim. Just an FYI.

    • +1

No noise on my Slim, same as the phat.

      Happy with it :)

      • +11

What about when you power it on?

        • It’s been about 2 weeks since I got it. I’ve been playing quite some time and no noise.

  • Seems an okay deal.

I see a lot of people have listed their ps5 disc edition on marketplace for around 500? Are these two good to be true offers or are they a reasonable price now that they slim is out??
Best way to test one out if you buy second hand?

    • +3

Sold mine for $530 recently and flew on the same day. I’d say $550 is the sweet spot

      • Thanks for that!
Did you sell yours to buy the slim by chance? If so, do you notice the difference in fan sound or anything?

  • +3

Code doesn’t seem to work. Do we know if it’s Aussie stock or grey?

    • This is what I want to know too

      https://www.dicksmith.com.au/da/buy/playstation-5-console-sl…

on the original website, it is local This product comes with a 1 Year Sony Warranty. . However, the warranty information on the eBay page is different In the unlikely event that you require a warranty repair, we will collect your item, repair or replace it, then return it to you at no charge

      • +1

They use the same warranty description on every listing on their eBay store, not just the ps5, hopefully the same stock

    • my guess is grey. e.g. officeworks don't price match dick smith due to it being grey stock https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/672438

      • +1

        whats wrong with grey?

        • +1

You might run into weird region locks or restrictions (unsure if any apply in ps5 case though) and it'll be difficult or impossible to make warranty claims via the manufacturer.

        • not saying there is anything wrong with grey. was guessing the answer to the question above.

but now that you've asked, in general, I'd be concerned with using the manufactures warranty in Australia. But this can vary depending on the manufacturer.

e.g. Apple products have a world-wide warranty. so as long as the grey is a genuine apple product, with the apple warranty period starting from date of purchase, I'd be able use the full warranty in Australia without issues.

other manufactures may not have a world-wide warranty so you'd have to return the grey import to another country for a warranty claim which can obviously be a massive pain

I assume you'd have all the Australian consumer law rights as well, but I'm just assuming this and it might be worth checking if Australian consumer law rights protects you when buying grey imports, as this would be a big negative against greys if not.

        • It may not cover Australia for warranty purposes as some manufacturers are region specific in their warranty

      • +1

"Dick Smith" is just Kogan trading under the name of an old established brand they bought the name from. Kogan is such a shady grey import company.

      • +2

Mine from this deal arrived today. Seems to be Australian stock as far I can tell; has an AU prefix on the serial number label

    • Same here. Code doesn't work. I'd say this deal is a bust (unless someone else can figure out how to make it work)

  • Dick Smith is still a thing?
I'll wait for the PS5 Pro in a year or so, the slim has a slightly larger SSD but otherwise it's just the same so not worth trading in my og disc PS5 because I've had no issues, it's not noisy or hot etc

    • +2

      Kogan bought them

  • +6

ps5 console design is seriously bad

    • +5

Literally the only reason i havent bought one, its so dam big and ugly, doesnt fit the aesthetics of any tv or cabinet ive seen. Just a big eye sore.

      • +4

Me too. It was the deciding factor between ps5 and Xbox for me. I can’t believe they ran with it.

      • They be going for the piano remake ;)

    • I thought this for ages but got one a year ago (fat model) and the design has really grown on me. It looks better in person than it does online. Also because it’s so big it runs pretty much silent and you never hear any fan noise.

      • I've got one too. just make sure you lay your fat boy sideways because there is a problem with the liquid metal cpu heat conductor leaking with gravity on the vertical orientation as it heats up. Known issue with the PS5 original releases.

  • Odds on any local stores matching this deal?

    • +2

0% because coupon code is used

  • +3

my PS5 is eating dust, not many great exclusive AAA games. Hopefully ps6 is a bigger leap hardware wise and Sony steps up on bringing more AAA games to the platform

    • +1

Yeah, wish I'd just sat on my PS4 pro as the only true exclusive I've even thought about playing is the new final fantasy and they've only just announced they will stop releasing games on PS4 in 2025 lol. I get way more use of my switch. Also the whole disc version authentication fiasco thing turns me off this version.

      • IMO not stopping ps4 support was one of Sonys biggest mistakes, what pushed ppl quickly to ps4 was Sony pulling the plug on ps3 early on and focusing all their money on AAA ps4 exclusive deals.

    • +1

I use my my5 for playing ps4 games

    • +1

Yeh i remember every playstation in the past had awesome games that really made the console worth getting. I havent really seen anything spectacular for the ps5. Gran turismo is just the same tired game as the last 3 or 4, and god of war is a been there done that type game.

  • Might as well wait for the Pro at this point.
