HTC Incredible S $69.83 at Target (Saving about $119.7 Going by Other Sites)

960

Bought this phone last night from Target at Springwood and after seeing it on special earlier for $189 I decided to grab it. I know there are a lot of other bargains to be had at Target.

Also there were 2 others there before I left.

Please also see this comment regarding unlocking Incredible S for free.

Also seeing as I have to get mine repaired for the pixel I spoke with target and none left at all in Brisbane. Just my luck posting it here and everyone taking the good ones. Hope you all enjoy though.

    Incredible price..

    • +2

why negged? Did you not like this incredible price?

    • Oh, you were just making a pun.
Took me a while to realize.

  • Is it unlocked ?

    • Honestly I have no idea and no real way to check.

      • stick a telstra sim in an optus phone and viceversa and you soon know ;)

        • Yeah don't have any. But if I get my hands on one I will report back.

        • its locked.

        • Was there any stock left at that store?

        • 2 left that I could see in the display cabinet

        • +1

          free unlock instructions below…

    • +2

unlocking will cost you about maybe $5 on ebay.

  • was my first android phone, i loved it…some people whinge about it but really for this price can't see a problem (it's nothing special tho with all the new phones about)

  • bloody hell, what's with all these insanely good specials at Target recently?

    • Bloke said it was just clearing old stock.

Better to sell it for something than shipping it to a warehouse for further costs for Target.

      http://www.ragtrader.com.au/news/target-ceo-shock-exit

      • That's right. Markdowns usually come out on Mondays for Target but there isn't deals this good that come from them so the new CEO might be having a say in it.

        • New CEO put his foot down according to rep who just sold me a butt load of stuff. They were seriously hanging on to some old stuff eg old ps3 models

    • +1

New Boss @ Target- and a ton of stock to shift…(already not making money, so why not grab a little turnover)

  • cant see it on the website [not the online store either]

  • +1

Beware this phone is quite difficult to unlock and root.

    • +31

I hate it when phone's are hard to root.
Better add the cost of a nice dinner and show to the price to get it to put out…

      • +9

There's an Ainol joke somewhere here, isn't there.

    • +3

Really ? I found it pretty easy to unlock and root. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705913

    • +2

I got this in January last year and managed to unlock and root it the day I got it pretty darn quick and easily (was my first android phone, had no idea what to do :P)

    • +3

That's what happens when you stick your connector in the wrong port.

  • +7

you just need patience and press all the right buttons.

    • +10

God, I don't even know how to turn it on…I always push the wrong buttons.

      • +1

nice, but too subtle to collect many +'s here

        • +1

It's even worse when you "accidentally" jam it in the rear socket.

  • My first and still current smartphone, which I got back when the price was $299. It's pretty decent in my opinion (latest official version is 4.0.4).

    • A stable and almost flawless CM10.1 rom is also available.

      • May I ask if it is worth it to put on this phone? Also how easy is it?

        • +2

Definitely recommend it, your phone will feel brand new. It's not hard, just a slightly longer process than with most other phones.

          1. Bootloader unlock at HTCDev.com
          2. Run downgrade script http://goo.gl/CwGyw
          3. Achieve S-Off
          4. Install BlackRose Hboot http://goo.gl/eQlKW
          5. Flash CM10.1 and Gapps http://goo.gl/S8atw

The link above is the rom I am using; however, there is also a new CM10.1 rom being actively developed by a different developer. I haven't personally tested it so I can't vouch for it yet. http://goo.gl/1QOLf

Anyway, if you need any help with anything, I'd be glad to help out.

        • had this phone for 2 years now, only tried to downgrade and root it 2 weeks ago…bricked it instead =( help would be great

        • Thanks for the steps of what to do. Although I already got stuck with running the bootloader as there were so many incredible S options. I'm sure I will figure it out when I get a chance to sit down properly.

        • @kirasuran
If you message me with more details I can try and help you out. I doubt you have actually bricked it.

          @flameinfiren
Have a look at DragonPhoenix' link higher up, as well as my link to the downgrade script. Searching the threads are a good idea if you are having trouble. If you still need clarification, feel free to message me. I can be daunting at first if you aren't familiar with the process.

  • Dse selling it for $329! http://dicksmith.com.au/product/EM5025/

    • Who can give you a good dicking? dick can!

  • can confirm its locked to optus and a pain to unlock unless you pay big. also rubbish battery life. id recommend the experia play over this anyday which target have for $10 less.

    • is that one locked in to any particular teleco?
or do you have any more info?

      • Experia can be unlocked for $10 worse case scenario. Buy a $10 starter pack with $30 credit as posted on OzB. Telstra will happily deduct $27.50 to unlock, then use $2.50 to bu apps from Google Play.

  • +2

Unlocking it may not be a good idea.

Fairly sure the phone being 2011 supports 900/2100. No 850 for Telstra or vodafone

    • +4

yes correct only good for optus. a basic single core phone too running the old snapdragon 1ghz and adreno 205. Only slightly better than the old Acer phone. call me crazy but I'd rather but the Coles one atm - Huawei Y201 for $27 after flybuys credit. Runs almost stock ICS and telstra crapware can be swithed off. $5 to unlock here at OzB and you have yourself a li'l gem of a bargain…two phones and a bit for the price if one…one for me and other for the kid/dad/dog/missus.

    • +1

While this is a good deal and the Coles Huawei Y201 is also a good deal, it is best to get a better phone.

Nowadays, you want at least a dual core phone with at least acceptable phone memory.

      • That's a pretty general statement, plenty of single cores fine for many purposes

  • Can anyone confirm this deal is available at other Target stores?

  • Target is going to be very busy after 1PM EST….. Broden already camped outside??

    • They open after 1PM?

      • in melbourne they are, cause of today's special day for our hero's

        • +2

          Damn, not in Brisbane :/

        • +1

          true patriots live in qld.

        • it's what the anzacs fought for.

        • yeah, think of the children.

  • I saw this offer last night, but no stock available. Confirm storewide.

    • Have u confirmed it Australiawide?

  • "Bought this phone last night from Telstra at Springwood" <— might wanna change that to Target.

    • +1

Thanks for the pick up on my error.

  • True That!

  • Don't upgrade this phone to ICS. It will slow down a lot.

    • +1

    • Upgraded mine to ICS last year. Never had a problem with speed since.

Slow downs are often related to specific apps, or the amount installed.

For those that experience a slow down, try a full reset and re-install apps.

Also, others have mentioned that battery life is not so great, but that hasn't been my experience. I only have to charge mine every second day on average and it doesn't get below 25%. I use my screen more than an hour a day reading (the screen being the biggest drain).

  • tried southland, chadstone , ballast and bacchus marsh.

none of them have it in stock.

i doubt if anyone store in victoria has one.

  • All the htc incredible gone at 1:03pm at Chatswood Target, one guy bought one the guy follow bought 2

Funny to see few young blokes lined up at the entrance of target 5mins before opening, we know they all ozbargainers :)

  • none in bankstown, sold out yesterday

  • So whats wrong with using this on Telstra.
Wish OP had posted this earlier! Would of picked one up yesterday. All gone now I believe.
Asked a mate who works at Target. Said all sold out Browns Plains, Springwood, Forest Lake, Mt Gravatt.. a Broden came into his store and bought the last 4.
    Going to try Buranda tomorrow.

    • You won't get access to the full Telstra 3G network, due to Telstra using the 850mhz radios for their network and Optus using 900/2100mhz. This phone has 900/2100mhz radios in it. Telstra 2G will work though.

      • +1

Well that leaves me out then. Not going to bother calling Buranda.

    • Sorry didn't get a chance to post it until today. Went after work and picked it up then went rock climbing and didn't get home until about 10pm. Didn't know that it was this popular. Thought all the popular deals from target had been posted. Only went there to search for that cheap wii which they had none left.

  • +1

Just got the last one in Ballarat, VIC :)

    • was that the last one ????

strange i called them at 1:01pm and they said that they have none left.. :(

  • +1

  • +2

no stock at Broadway. saw many people come and ask for this.

  • bought the last two here :)

  • Got one from Tuggeranong ACT!

  • All sold out at Melbourne city

  • Anyone bought an extra one? I'll be willing to give you $80 paypal for one (inc. postage). My store (Warrnambool) has no stock :(

  • Just got the last one from Chadstone @ 7pm. Weird that many can't get it before me !

  • Got the last one at 2:30pm at Eastgardens.

Also found the limited edition William and Kate wedding Barbie, clearance for $39 at target. Lowest price online is over $100

  • One at target mornington and heaps of xperia plays

    • Hopefully my target will have an xperia I want one but they weren't open today for some reason.

      • +1

Recommend xperia over this imho, at least it'd be a popular gaming machine even if its a bit dated specs-wise…and a better battery life too….

      • +2

ANZAC day is the reason I believe

        • yeah I get that but why are all the other targets open but mine isn't?
Suppose it's good gives me time to research this purchase.

    • No luck finding any near me, anyone want to purchase one (xperia play) and ship it to me I'll reimburse you cost and some for your effort. I'm not sure how much shipping will be so if you could give me an estimate (post code 2486) and how much you wanted for your time I would appreciate it.
Let me know before you purchase it so I can confirm details with you.

HOT PRESS - ok folks this can be unlocked free on the optus website. Did it for a mate…

Used an existing Optus postpaid number and it worked first go….might work with the number it comes with or others but didn't try…

    https://secure-unlock.com.au/ou/launch

The starter kit the phone comes with is junk as it expired earlier in the month. This is a two year old phone, so expected…..

    • Just got my unlock code as well! Great stuff!

    • Thank you!
