I dont normally wear Quartz watches only Automatics but G Shocks seem to have a following. For $50 delivered I thought I would try one out. G Shocks have a reputation for being almost indestructible, maybe I'll get my Son to test it out!!

I have not wore a watch for about 10 years. Yet this seems like a great deal and I am tempted to buy!
    Help!!

damn… I remember wearing this same exact design back in the 90's in school where every other kid had one too

  • I'd add an extra $23 and get this one: http://www.amazon.com/Casio-GWM500A-1-G-Stock-Atomic-Digital…

It's solar and got atomic synch (not sure it will synch in APAC though)… but solar is worth it, you'll never have to change battery

    • Ive read that depending on weather conditions, people as far down as melbourne seem able to get their watches sync'ed to the radio beacon in Japan setting them to Japan time.

      US$156 for that.

    • i agree. I would like to go with something interesting rather than Quartz, maybe Citizen Eco-drive or Casio Solar. I like this one with decent price http://www.amazon.com/Casio-AQ-S810W-1AV-Solar-Sport-Combina…

Do you think they are too 'kiddy'? Teenage son says so. Considering for my husband.

  • Is it a genuine Casio? ;)

    • Should do, Amazon dont generally sell knock offs (one of their various other sellers within the Amazon network might though)

    • silly … of course it is genuine .. it is shipping from amazon.com

I've owned a G-shock watch for over 15 years and still going strong, never had a problem with it. Only changed the batteries once a couple years ago.

bought this at COTD in last year

I was in Kuwait when it was at least 48 degrees in the shade. In the morning I left my G-shock outside on a concrete bollard forgetting about it, along with my toothbrush. I went back after lunch and my Oral-B toothbrush had melted to the size of a large dinner plate. The G-shock burnt me when I picked it up. It was so hot that day our Toyota Landcruiser would not even start. The G-shock was blank and did not work… for two days until it started again!!!! still works great 10 years after.

    • Cool.. Just bought one.

    • They don't make 'em the same no more though…

  • The only problem i have with these is the date format is only in US format i.e. MM-DD instead of DD-MM

Does anyone know how to change it.. i could never work it out.

    • cannot change to DD-MM on 95% of g-shocks. there are only one or two which you can change. i would need to google to track down the photo to get the model number.

I have been using a G-shock 6600 for over 20 years. These things just dont die

    • That is why the DW6600 is the cornerstone of military watches.

  • i wish there was a better looking gshock than this one at this price..

  • Great price! I'm going to grab one for myself. Thanks!

dont know why this is such a great deal. these g-shocks are always low prices at amazon .. here is the DW6900 … for an extra few bucks ..
