And it is too Spiky for the tongue too. Hopefully it not spicy too.

  • As for the use. a while Ago I bought one of these to replace the batteries in a portable amplifier that used 8xAA batteries.
I lasted longer, and I didnt have to spend money on alkalines or use 8 of my rechargeables for a single device.
I have an universal charger, so I could charge these.

  • Could this be connected in parallel with a regular motorcycle battery?

    • Why would you do that?

    • Yes, but there would be issues balancing the charge between them if you needed to charge them together. There are auxiliary battery systems to do that, but they are mainly for 4WD vehicles and are expensive.

  • Does anyone know which devices/UPS this battery is compatible with?

    • This would work with many things like security alarms etc. as it is a general voltage. Unfortunately, at 2Ah it doesn't store a lot of power. For comparison, my house alarm has a 7Ah battery back up. The smallest UPS I have opened had an 18Ah battery.
It would make a great substitute for 8 AA (or C or D) batteries, as they would have similar power storage.

    • dont know any ups's that use 2ah, almost every APC UPS uses 7.2ah and 9ah batteries tho - but, what is typically more important on a ups is the maximum discharge current rating…

    I'll have fish with mine.

  • mount on your bike(bicycle) and connect to a 12v cigarette socket charger for your phone?? power for the lights as well.

  • i got the last one at a dse store for $2 which saved me buying the 7ah one for $43. i put it in the home security alarm to replace the old 7ah one. it seems to be working ok. I know at 2Ah it doesn't store a lot of power but is it a safe replacement and will the unit recharge it? I hope the alarm unit works ok and it doesn't catch fire or burn down my home?

    • Not a particularly sensible idea, but you'll get away with it albeit with very little leeway when the battery is on its way out. Your alarm is unlikely to sound for very long - you can probably bet on that.
Charge rate should be okay - at the point of installation anyway. Unless the battery voltage was crazy low the float charge mode should have kicked in quickly.
Did you test the voltage before you installed the battery. I personally wouldn't have left the store without doing so. At the price these are being sold for it's a pretty fair bet that they've been sitting around for quite awhile and may well be long past the point of needing a charge.
If these batteries have sulphated-up to any significant degree they're on a slippery slope to an early death. Just be aware of that.

  • thanks tas. yes i checked it. it was 12volts before i connected it. the alarm let out a short beep once or twice within the first couple hours but now seems to be working fine i guess its fully charged.

    • Coolsteps, I hope it was showing a fair bit more than just 12 volts. Gel cells are a bit different to liquid electolyte lead-acid batteries and a new, healthy battery should test at a smidge over 13. I personally would not buy a gel cell off the shelf displaying under 12.7.
As I said above, just be aware that - cheap though it was - you may have bought a rather compromised battery with a consequently short life, used in an application for which it is unintended!
Hunt around for a 7Ah. You should be able to get one for $29 or even better. Given their prices generally I'm loathe to recommend Jaycar, but they do have them on special fairly regularly - and they sell alot. Just ask at the counter for a multimeter so you can test before you leave. Alternatively, if you're shopping elsewhere, take a cheap multimeter with you (under 10 bucks), or if you're really skint (or want something that will fit in your pocket) buy this: www.buyincoins.com/new_en/details/new-4-5-30v-dc-digital-dis…
Heck, buy two. The quantity discounts are ridiculous!
